Ha! I got one today! Used Very Good looks new! Washed it cold water with Astko Detergent. Excellent product! I will use it with a sherpa fleece throw. Should be very warm for little wright.
For my light weight sleep set up I use the gortex bivvy in woodland camo with snugpak jungle bag with the face screen and a inflatable sleep mat works awesome and keeps bugs out I do like the small and light weight of the other bivvy though great vid thanks
That's exactly what I do with the acu bivy. I use an outdoor research mattress with the jungle bag but I'm thinking of adding a small stick or pole on the inside because the mosquitos can still bite me if the netting is sitting on my face.
Zoltoks I have the snugpak ionosphere and am going to buy the stratosphere the smaller of the two it’s basically a bivvy bag with a tent style hood for your head very low profile you should check it out
Great review of these bags and I appreciated your focusing on preference based on purpose. Personally, I think you got a steal of a deal on the ACU and I'm looking into getting one myself. Cheers.
I have put both to use quite a bit and I love them both equally, for different reasons. The mountain warehouse bivy is always with me unless I'm bringing my ACU bivy. The MW bivy is the perfect addition to add about 4 degrees farenheit of warmth and 94 percent wind protection. I'm bringing it with me on an expedition through the Badlands this June because it is just so light.
Thanks! The mountain warehouse bivy is on sale for 24.99 right now. It's the perfect bivy to bring along for emergencies or staying in a tent. It's also great as a sleeping bag liner if your afraid of damaging a nice sleeping bag.
so it's only 1.5 lbs? great. for the money it's a must. it lowers the temp range on your bag. acts like a ground cloth, allows for swift stealthy deployment, and retains the Matt. price to value ratio is also supper cuz it's surpluss and there are a lot of them.
maybe a stupid question... how well does the mss or uca bivy cover work with other bags? Im thinking of picking up a kelty tuck -20 bag and fitting the bivy cover over it.
Not a stupid question and sorry for the late reply. The acu bivy bag has a lot of height inside the bag. This means you can fit a lot of stuff inside the bag without losing loft. From what I understand the Kelty bag that you speak of is made of synthetic insulation so the weight of the bivy will not compress your bag at all. In all honesty I think the acu bag is perfect pole less bivy for rugged environments. It truly is indestructable and should work with your bag perfectly. Hope this helps.
Hmmmm it's been a while. That was just a leftover compression sack from something I bought a while back. I too am looking for another compression sack for it. I use my bivy a lot in winter and I don't actually bring the compression sack on those trips. (I pull sleds and have my entire sleep system sit loosely in a dufflebag) Rolling things up in the winter is annoying for me. If you want to see more of the bivy in action you can watch my recent trip on my company's UA-cam channel. m.ua-cam.com/video/jQwx9CQRCnU/v-deo.html
Lol 😆 I have not made the mistake since then. My new bug repellent strategy is so "advanced" that it might even warrant a video. That will have to wait though because it's winter time. (My favorite time to camp) My new system includes a trio of reppelents. Deet, picaridin, and permethrin treated clothes. I may be a walking chemical hazzard but at least I'm bug free!
Yea I guess it would be like me calling camo see-ay-m-oh 😅. I just look at acu as army combat uniform and I abbreviated it, but I know that army folk will laugh at me. Too late now to address it. Haha
@@Zoltoks One part you said Accu, youre supposed to just say they letters like you did in most of the video. No worries, I am an Army vet, its no biggy
I use the military bag it's fantastic great for hammock camping. Best wishes from UK
Probably the best gear review I've seen on YT. Good delivery & succinct 👍

It's my favorite piece of gear in my kit by far. I love the simplicity and the more I use it the more I enjoy it.

Great video! What compression sack did you get...? Maybe size? Trying to find one. Thank you.
