Awesome blade Jeff and as for the birdstone.....brother don’t get me lying!! I haven’t a clue!!! We find rocks polished every time we hunt and I find myself trying to make it into something but you just never know what they were doing with some of this stuff!! It’s much easier to discredit something if it’s not found in an obvious site but maybe they had intentions for it....who knows??!! Keep on em bro and Bol!! 👍
Knife is sweet about the slate piece I don't believe it is. It just looks to thin where the head and tail would be. Don't feel bad in 55 years of hunting I've only ever found bits and pieces of bird stones. Good luck brother and stay safe.
Looks like some slate, no birdstone but I would find many pieces if slate in fields that appear to have been previously used, for what I do not know. Many have polished sides or grooves, some will have lines inscribed. I like to save stuff for later studies. Nice blade! Cheers!
Knife blade is a smoker. Wish I had a nickel for everyone of them walk all day hunts for perpetual nothing's and find a killer 20 feet from the truck. As far as the bird stone piece. IDK,after I walk 6 hours I start seeing all kinds of things that ain't what they appear. I got a cortex flake I picked up last year. On a 51/2 hour 9 mile round trip that looks like a horse. I wouldn't put the ranch on it. On a bet. I can't see one hint of human alterations on it. Every one that sees it says "wow that looks like a horse" I can't even come up with a good fish story to hook them with. Thanks for sharing and your time.

A bird stone is a Decorative ornamental piece, That was made of slate and shaped to look like a bird. Some were drilled and some were not, They were used to put on the top of Indian girls heads and tie their hair up with. They're very rare and very very valuable.
