    Dear Richard,
    I have been enjoying your immensely educational channel for several months now. I would recommend taking GlyNAC instead of liposomal glutathione, for two compelling reasons. First, cells regulate their internal levels of glutathione according to their particular function and needs. By using liposomal glutathione, you bypass that homeostatic mechanism and can potentially disrupt things. The main use cases where liposomal glutathione is called for are severe depletion or chelation therapies, which (fingers crossed) one hopes neither you nor Mrs. Modern have.
    Second, Glycine and NAC are individually useful to the body for other reasons besides producing glutathione. Glycine produces a wide range of useful metabolites, collagen, etc. while NAC is a powerful biofilm disruptor and participates in the immune system. By providing the precursors instead of the finished product, that offers more flexibility to the cells to deal with a wider range of situations. This is true of many supplements in general, by the way; it's often more effective and more beneficial to increase precursor stores than the target metabolite (tributryn and butyrate is another great example).
    Hope this helps!
    Sincerely,
    Kim
    P.S. I notice a distinct lack of longevity big guns on your list, like rapamycin or SIRT6 activator. Are you not taking them, or do you not consider them supplements?

    • @ModernHealthspan
      @ModernHealthspan  11 місяців тому

      Dear Kim, thanks for your detailed advice. A number of people have commented on the use of glutathione rather than GlyNAC. I will definitely look into it and let everyone know whether I continue with glutathione or switch to GlyNAC.
      I am thinking about rapamycin and have found a source. I will probably start that soon. I should also have another look at SIRT6.

    Looking very healthy, Richard. Good stack. Very similar to mine, although I have a very hard time with supplementing magnesium in general. Almost as amazing as starting NMN.

    Excellent stack, Richard. I would definitely change around the timing of when you take some of these supplements. Take NMN and Fisetin on an empty stomach as soon as you awake to match your body circadian cycle. Certain supplements make you sleepy. I would take TMG, Astaxanthin, D3, K2, Taurine, Zinc, Selenium, at bedtime and you will sleep like a baby and not be drained during the day. Thank you for your channel and interviews. You are saving the lives of the world at large.

  • @factchecker9358

    That's a nice list and well organized. I take almost all of these. It needs to be this long because science is only going to look at one at a time in isolation. We lack the combo effects good and bad, but the safety of the individual items has been tested. I came back to luteolin for the sirt6 activation and CD38 repression. I also take others in this on-off problem with the NAD precursors in a three-way aging problem (NAD-Sirt6-CD38). Other considerations for rotating in would be GlyNAC, CoQ10 for age and statin depletions, and ALA. Hopefully the leaky gut and leaky brain barrier issues will be addressed by urolithin A. Others might include olive oil (oleic acid) and pterostilbene (for longer half life than resveratrol to reach tissues).

    • @ModernHealthspan
      @ModernHealthspan  11 місяців тому

      Hi Thanks for sharing. It is true that they are mostly only tested in isolation so it is difficult to tell if they work together or not. I am also thinking of CoQ10 and GlyNAC. I have taken ALA in the past and am considering it again.

      "Hopefully the leaky gut and leaky brain barrier issues will be addressed by urolithin A."
      Look up Butyrate. It is made by some of our gut bacteria out of fiber and is incorporated into the intestinal wall as part of the barrier. Anybody with leaky gut should eat a variety of fibers every day to broaden the diversity of this culture and extreme cases should ask their doctors about fecal transplants. I don't know anything about issues with the blood brain barrier, but if you are worried about heavy metals, you should know that garlic can provide chelation support.

    I take most of this. I also take Rutin which suppresses a senescence associated secretory phenotype (SASP) which has been shown to affect the cells surrounding senescent cells. SASP has also been shown to play a role in prostate hypertrophy which affects over 80% of older men. I also take a mushroom extract mix from Fungi Perfecti to stimulate my immune system. It has done wonders and had the most noticeable effect of all my supplements. Lion's Mane and Turkey Tail are part of that mix and have been shown to increase neurogenesis (via NGF increase) in the CNS and PNS as well as have anticancer activities, respectively.

    I think I like that list. I would probably put berberine in the "do not know" category - personally I would want to research more but maybe you already have. The only other question mark is whey powder. I would be tempted to drop this and just add a bit of glycine or gly-NAC directly (but you already have glutathione). I still think you should look up ergothionine. Then you can take one mushroom cap a day and call it a supplement... Common button mushrooms probably need to be cooked for large quantities but most others are fine raw. Also, another good search term is "AMPK" pathway. Vinegar falls into this category, but there are other options. This is probably a bigger deal for those that have more of a weight issue than you have.

    • @ModernHealthspan
      @ModernHealthspan  11 місяців тому +2

      Hi Jeff, thanks for your comments. I will look at ergothioneine. I don't see that whey protein and Gly NAC are alternatives, as I take them for separate purposes (building muscle and supporting glutathione) so if I switched to GlyNAC I would still take the whey.

    That's a lot you take. Only one thing, I don't know where this indoctrination coming from, take 5 gram of creatine daily? Creatine helps to store more water into your muscles, that's it. It gives you a little more strength during your workout, and helps for slightly faster regeneration. Your body is building creatine on its own. I learned, while taking creatine since over 7 years, 8 weeks on, 8 weeks off, just to not weaken this body function. And I take 3 gram daily, 2 gram before workout, 1 gram in the evening. I don't use, loading time too, it needs just 3-4 days after 8 weeks off, to feel the support. Too much creatine intake goes just out with your pee. I get all my information from the book “Creatin Facts” unfortunately just in German.

      @@jefflittle8913 I'm 64. When started taking Creatine I realized quick, it is not just helping during my workouts, but helps the old bones in daily life too. That's the reason I stay with it. Our body is an “intelligent machine”, to cope with infections, stress, accidents, hunger, cold…, the body is adaptable. It stores Minerals, Vitamins over month, some over years. We don't need continuously supplementation. Most recommendation are just suggestions, and you have to find out how it will fit into your regime. If you already have a wide variety in your diet, there is a greater possibility for fewer supplements. Of course, if you're living an unhealthy life, you could build up some deficiency, but you can't fix it with some overload in supplements. Move your ass around, is the first step to get your old joints lubricated. In advance, then using creatine to intensify your exercise. Taking creatine as an excuse because you are old doesn't help you in the long term, your body will adapt and reduce his own production.

For me taking about 1g seems to decrease GFR by 3 points. Question is, is creatinine causal in kidney desease or is it just one of the many things that go up in the blood when filtration goes down. I tried to do some research on that and people don't seem to agree.

      Look at him. Exercise appears to be way under-done. Diet may well be good but he does look his age. So what is the point of supplementing based on early research animal results, or in-vitro human cell studies? Not much, judging from appearances.
      We should all be more circumspect, in my opinion.
