Every fan must understand that this man is over 70 years old and finally wants to go into his well-deserved retirement. We should all be happy for him. Up the Irons.
I think it's MORE than fair enough! He's 72, been the drummer (very physical job) for 40-odd years and played to millions of fans all round the world on multiple years long tours. He's earned his retirement! Wishing Nicko all the very best with his health and family.
I'm truly just glad he gets to enjoy his retirement instead of god forbid something truly wrong happening to him on the road and he doesn't get to finally relax It's well earned and deserved. Thank you Nicko
42 years playing Drums & since I've first seen them ! God Bless Nicko McBrain for being a part of the Greatest Metal Band in History ! 🔥 UP THE IRONS FOREVER 🔥
Nicko, you've given us all of you for over 40+ years, go be with your loved ones who I thank on behalf of all your fans, for lending you to us for so long. Spend your time with your family, friends , loved ones, and enjoy all your future endeavours. No matter where you go or what you do, we will march to the beat of your drum forever more
The rock n roll hall of fame is not worthy of these guys! Thanks Nicko! 40 plus years of joy bringing! F my ole boots! We all owe you one! Up the irons forever!!!!
I AM NOT A MAIDEN FAN….but I am a drummer who 100% respects what Nicko did for Maiden and the drumming community. I ALSO 100% respect Maiden fans who are some of the most dedicated fans in music history. My favorite drummer and friend David Garibaldi retired from Tower of Power earlier this year after starting with them in 1970 - so I know this pain. Maiden fans rule and thank you Nicko for your contributions sir. I wish you nothing but the best in your retirement.
@ absolutely! But slowing down a bit. 56 years on the road is a lot of travel. If uwe have 4 mins this video is a cool little story and clinic. Just the first 4-5 mins. Emillio the band leader explains how Dave came up with the groove the “On The Serious Side”. It’s just the drums and horns for a clinic. All acoustic instruments. Pretty cool though. Let me know what you think. After you watch the video I have a great story as to how they recorded it. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/hfY9MEEtqHQ/v-deo.htmlsi=yLZvGo2jIMHbOmQ-
The Dude has well and truely EARNED his retirement. So stoked for him to finally accept that's the best next step for his life. Many many thanks for everything related to why I know who you are. Go Well, Nicko and Godspeed!
Nicko, thank you for everything. I had the pleasure of meeting him twice after shows. I've seen them 21 times and been in 3 Iron Maiden tributes. Iron Maiden changed my life and Nicko changed my drumming forever. I will miss him dearly and I understand why he's leaving after seeing them in October. That's all I will say about it.
As a drummer maidens songs are for me apart from rush are the most on boring song to play technically differently each time all over the set Learn a lot from him the past fourty years playing
It's time and I absolutely agree, on the other hand any other replacement with technical skills will never replace Nicko style, heart, fun and everything he gives to the Iron Maiden, for me individually, top drummer with cracking job🤘
Cheers mate, I saw Maiden for the first time on the Somewhere Back In Time Tour and grateful I did. I didn't even know who Maiden was back in the 80s in high school. I know, what was my problem? Well that tour made up for it. Thanks for laying down the groove to so many great songs.
Nico I hate to see you go the damn it man you gave it a 42-year run as one of the most amazing drummers ever I'll miss you but I want you to enjoy your retirement when the time comes for the greatest British metal band ever to finally say we're hanging it up up the irons forever you guys are always going to be my favorite
This dude IS metal. How many of his grooves and fills are etched into our collective soul's? Too many to list. One of the best to pick up the sticks. A well deserved retirement. I bow in the presence of The Master
That mad gallop WILL BE MISSED soooo glad I got to meet him this year super super person,DRUMMER and just a great guy good luck in you're business ventures and hope to hear that gallop soon
His drumming has transformed countless lives! We're all better drummers for having heard his grace, style, and ferocity over all the beautiful, transformative albums he's helped release
Been a fan since I was 6 years old, short after Seventh Son was released. Was a bittersweet honor to be present on his last show. Thank you Nicko for everything, and it was a lot.
One of the best drummers ever . It's been a hell of a ride . Thanks Nicko , for your contribution to the Legendary Band , "Iron Maiden" . One of my all time favorite bands to ever walk and rock the planet . Wish you well on all that you do from here on .
Saw him three times with Maiden, then two times at the Music Fair in Frankfurt where he jammed a few feet away from us. One of the most humble musicians I bummed into. Glad he is doing better and I hope he will can enjoy his retirement for a lon time.
Enjoy a thoroughly well deserved retirement Nicko. Been a fan of yours and of course Maidens' since I first saw you and the boys back in '82. We're still young men even though you're older than me by 4 years lol ♥️🤘🏼🤘🏼🇬🇧
I'm typically very supportive of someone stepping back once they've put in their time. However, this is different. He can't just leave. He had a stroke and couldn't use one side of his body? So, he was half as good? Well, fortunately, he's good enough that at 50%, he's still a badass. When you are a legend of that stature and in a band as legendary as Maiden, you die on the throne. You draw your last breath right there on the stage. Get back up there on your giant drum kit and start bangin' away. Wtf?? I started playing hair guitar in 1985. I grew up on Jacksons, Marshalls, Kramers and Iron Maiden. I am going to miss you, sir. You truly are a legend. 👍
I hope Nicko reads this. He has been an inspiration to my drumming for years and I am grateful for his talent and dedication to drums. I was in a band called Mr. Meaner and we played a few Iron Maiden songs, mainly the trooper . That song definitely impacted me in a big way. Happy retirement to Nicko and may God bless his future endeavors 🥁🪖❤️
I saw them at Canada's Wonderland in the 80's and enjoyed that show immensely! But like someone said, he is in his 70's and you know when it's time to go. He will always be part of the Iron Maiden's family.Enjoy your retirement sir
Nicko influence my drumming For me his the Maiden drummer. Did great albums and great tour. Had the chance to see him life tree times. 🤘. Nicko Mcbrain 🤘
Enjoy your well-deserved retirement, Sir Nicko McBrain. All my respect for this man and thanks for his 42 years of music and heavy metal. UP THE IRONS.
Absolute legend!! Unfortunately there comes a time when your body says enough is enough, well deserved retirement from touring, the heartbeat of Maiden, thank you Nicko😊🤘
wish him the best i really do i hope he gets tp do other amazing things with maiden i think he is in the studio with them next year dont know but i hope so if not im sure he get to do other projects and get more time to spend with family and friends i wonder if he would be more into rock n roll ribs his restaurant in florida. Thanks nicko for your music miuch love to you
Nicko no word, 🥺dont hear more you playng drummer, i play drummer and i play following your way of play drumm, i amo your fan 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏for me you até tchê besta drummer of tchê world anda tchê univers
had a supervisor go on a cruise in the early 90's and sat at a table with Nikko sitting at the table with him and said he was the nicest guy and had no idea who he was until everyone disclosed their occupation. Enjoy retirement it's well deserved!!! 🤘🤘
Nicko is a tropper. He will enjoy a quieter life but will remain will the Maiden family. Maybe he will join them on stage during the London show next year for the celebration of the 50th anniversary.
A groundbreaking rock star, a gentleman and a light hearted, comical character. He yelled at me December 2023 at Rock N Roll Ribs during a charity auction. I accidentally raised my hand at the wrong time and had to withdraw my bid. He called me out :)
He isn't quitting the band. Bruce said so during the show. He isn't touring live with them anymore. My guess is his stroke led him to early retirement, as he had to simplify a lot of his parts because of reduced mobility on his right side. "Wasted Years" in particular was difficult, and if you listen to parts played over the past couple of years there are less flourishes on the hi hats and such. At one point, Adrian had to stop the song to start over because the beat was lagging behind. My guess is if they record any more studio albums, Nicko may very well still be on it. Still an amazing drummer. Nicko will never be replaced. It will be difficult to find someone who can emulate his jazz like feel. The late Gar Samuelsen of Megadeth comes to mind. Maybe Thomas Lang?
Every fan must understand that this man is over 70 years old and finally wants to go into his well-deserved retirement. We should all be happy for him. Up the Irons.
Well said!
Absolutely!
Jagger please, can you give him some advice 😢? 🫶🙏🎯🎯 thanks Nicko, hope seeing you in your new projects . Top Drummer indeed 🎉❤
they all should have retired.. in the 90s.. stale is just stale
Don’t forget the stroke he suffered.
I think it's MORE than fair enough! He's 72, been the drummer (very physical job) for 40-odd years and played to millions of fans all round the world on multiple years long tours. He's earned his retirement! Wishing Nicko all the very best with his health and family.
Minor note: Nicko's first album with Maiden was Piece of Mind in 1983. Clive Burr was their drummer for Number of the Beast.
Thank you
Nicko was Clive' s drum tech. He was the devil in the mask on the # 😈 video
Yeah we all know, thanks !!
His first album was released in 1975 downtown flyers by the streetwalkers
They've just announced the replacement it's Simon Dawson from British Lion
I met him personally in 1993 here in Karlsruhe, Germany. He is such a great Guy!

Love Nicko so much!! Not going to be the same without him.
no,.. i promise it will be just as stale, boring and regurgitated as its been since the early 90s
I'm truly just glad he gets to enjoy his retirement instead of god forbid something truly wrong happening to him on the road and he doesn't get to finally relax It's well earned and deserved. Thank you Nicko

I still listen to Trust, a french band, who had Nicko on drums. I listen to them most because of him. Extraordinary drummer with impressive feel.
Me too💪💪💪
Nico shook my hand in Toronto in 1991, he had zero ego, just was happy to see a fan and wished me well. What a true musician.
It's time and I absolutely agree, on the other hand any other replacement with technical skills will never replace Nicko style, heart, fun and everything he gives to the Iron Maiden, for me individually, top drummer with cracking job🤘
Love you Nicko! One of my favorite drummers of all time!
