THIS i HATE norton i turn off all popups and still they like HEY LISTEN UGH i just want you to SHUT UP norton it litterally made a game i was playing minimize and i lost my team the game cuz of a stupid norton pop up
i Just got rid of norton for the same reason. Even with 5 mos remaining on my subscription, I can't stand all the pop-ups and automatic openings of Edge and Chrome telling me to install extensions! So ANNOYING and INVASIVE! Went to AV... Fingers crossed that AV doesn't bombard the user with unwanted pop-ups!
I found Norton to be disruptive & their sign on is too complicated to do simple things. I also got hit with the subscription renewal over a month early. Chasing a refund and alternative product. I am overlooking Norton as an option in future.
How does a regular consumer know which source to trust when it comes to buying the "best" AV/Malware software? I've just watched the top three search results from UA-cam, this video being one and they've all cited why "they" are the best and why the "other" sources are less than reliable. If every one of these thinks they're picks are correct, and none of them are consistent with the chosen software, who is wrong here?
Id ask around people that use antiviruses in your friendgroup, youtubers can never be trusted i think, i love eset cause i never had an issue with it and it doesnt bother me with anything, had a friend who had a horrible experiance with Bitdefender i myself had horrible experiences with norton, mcaffe and avira are not even worth speaking about them. Kaspersky is always great performancewise but they have political issues which is why id avoid them. I think the biggest problem is that Windows defender is simply good enough to warrant spending the money these companies ask for, viruses are mostly a thing of the past.
funny is you dont need to buy one of the best AV soft if you have windows its free included in system, its not time of windows xp when defender waqs useless garbage who did not stoped nothing

Avoid Norton at all costs... after paying them hundreds of dollars for protection, thy bombard me with pop ups, constant advertisement pitches, and a lot of annoying windows and notices that come up everywhere. While the antivirus might be good at catching stuff in your computer, their sales strategies are terrible. AVOID!
Affordable? I disagree. It's sad we have gotten to the point where we, as the consumer (and IT crowd) have dived right into the "subscription" bandwagon. Paying a monthly subscription for what WAS the cost of the software that came with at least 1 year of definition updates. I've been looking at AV software to replace TotalAV and have concluded NOTHING is 100% so why even bother.
Fiber network providers are now providing their own firewalls, antivirus and trojan protection, and I was told there could be conflicts using one of these products on top of theres, its like pouring fluid through multiple filters and the restriction slows and stops much of the flow. As a novice, I want password/personal protection, but there seems to be no cut and dry solutions offered, IMO of course.
Norton had a miner in it, an absolute scandal even if it's detection rates are decent with its family control options. Bitdefender was on point. TotalAV could be considered the Avast and AVG of 2017, PuP.
I like Norton. Side Note: My Norton 360 was set to expire March 1, 2024 and the company wanted ~$120 for 1 year/5 user renewal. I brought a new Norton 360 1 year/3 user (I only use 3 licenses) for $19 on Amazon.

@@sylvana5474 Yep - it protects you from malicious links / downloads / websites and also has a nifty little network firewall that stops attackers from hacking you (I had an alert once where someone tried to use a known windows vulnerability (CVE-something), but I had windows up to date as well so I wasn't vulnerable). This is of course if you get the premium version (also gives you unlimited VPN). I've been using it since like 2008 and it's literally miles ahead of the competition. I also like how it disinfects files instead of just deleting them - so you work files can still exist if they were infected.
@baileyboy7567 Seriously? Do you not think that your own government is spying on virtually every aspect of your life and won't hesitate to use it against you whenever it benefits them? What about all the fools on TikTok = Chinese government with their hooks into your personal data? Do you trust them but not Kaspersky? I could cite so many others such as Facebook, Google, Temu ... the list is enormous! They are all spying on you and collecting your personal information for their own use or to sell it all without your permission. Now, in the era of AI, it's all so much worse! By using any app, buried somewhere in the fine print you sign over the rights for them to use any information or interactions with their app for AI "training purposes". Wake up!
