Really nice design Shaun! It's always fun to see those moments where things don't quite go to plan and you work through them. Awesome project and video!
Beautiful! I love watching your design and build progress. I'm terrible at design, but I can build from plans all day. You're helping me learn to think outside of the box.
Stunning work/design Shaun! I've been obsessed with slatted design recently. Sometimes the required 'mathing' can creep up on ya in a design, but builds are always so much more fun when you can wing some arbitrary dimensions/angles. I've also recently started employing the cutting out MDF templates on the X-Carve, and flush trimming on my piece and it is such a game changer (doing this on my current build). Thanks for bringing that skill to our attention 😊
what you do is wonderful, from the design of the object to the production and finally to the video, I have recently started making "design" metal objects in my channel. I hope to be as good as you are someday😍
You guys always think outside the box. Wasn’t feelin the design at first and that’s probably because I’m most comfortable with the standard bench design, but it has grown on me.
“Uh Hello!?“ lol fantastic looking bench and I don’t think this is so crazy I couldn’t do it! I think I’m going to make us a garden bench like this with some appropriate wood species
"Lyle" glasses. the bench is a nice, easy design. The dimensions can be altered to give a shorter bench, with a taller table, and I can call it my "solo dining bench".
So unique, i think i went from Liking it to disliking it and back about 3 times! The phone at the end is what tied it altogether, i.e. giving that raised section a purpose. Definitely think you need to iterate on this design to see where the ideas go.
MOdern style really isn't my thing but I have to say this is a work of art. I could easily see this in a museum for seating in front of an expensive show piece.
I really like that bench and think it would be an awesome hallway bench, so I think I'll make one but maybe use some sapele instead of walnut, and beech or Ash, depending what's available here in the UK.
Beautiful design. I have the phone bench from my grandmother’s house that must be from the 30’s. My mother would love this modern take on it. I may just have to build it (with credit to you of course).
¡Felicidades! 🙂
Great to see your build, Shaun! And I loved the phone. I have an old wall style dial phone I’ve been meaning to put in my shop with a sign that declares it the complaint hotline.
first off, nice hair. second off, this telephone bench is absolutely beautiful. listening to you narrate your work, makes it sound easy to make.....but since i have 10 rhumbs on both of my left hands, i guess that i wont be making one any time soon.....thanks for making me feel sooooo mortal.😁
Love it. Watching the video, I looked around my house and imagined a few places where I'd put something like this. This video is inspiring. Would be cool to see one of these slatted designs from you guys where the profile of each flat piece changes gradually on one side, from front to back to make a more 3D shape.
Beautiful piece. What I want to know is what do you think of the sap wood on the walnut. Everything else is straight and angular and it is organic. Wasn't sure about letting that into the design, but I like it.
working in 3 different uses and meanings to the clip of you answering the phone on the bench is such a great artistic decision
I really love this project. And it’s great to see a completely different style from the usual ones.

Everyone else in the comments has already said it, but I’ll echo. Great design, great build, great piece. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
You knocked this one out of the park, Shaun!
Storytelling is an art. Woodworking is an art. It's fitting to meld them.
Your call is extremely important to us.
Thanks Jason! Really appreciate it!
This video is a perfect amalgamation of fine woodworking and brilliant videography/narration. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Really fantastic.
Thank you! Really happy to hear that.
Really nice design Shaun! It's always fun to see those moments where things don't quite go to plan and you work through them. Awesome project and video!
Thanks! There are always at least a couple of those moments.
@@shaunb66 For sure!

Really happy to hear that! Designing might be the hardest part, and it is something we can keep refining as long as we are willing.

Glad to hear all that! Thanks for watching!
I think this is my favorite of all your builds over the years. I want it by my front door! Great work, Shaun!
Hey there, Shaun, it's me,
Your old friend, Opportunity.
Decided to call.
Since you asked--- Watts. I watched the Warby ad. And I love that bench. Really special.
Thanks Janet!
Awesome piece. Great editing. Good job!
Such a beautiful piece! You guys really stand out, amazing designs, your story telling, editing, everything is spot on! ❤
dude i got an ad right after you said telephone that started with someone picking up a phone and then screaming lmao
I must say that is a fascinating object in the thumbnail.
A really beautiful Bench!
With lots of sharp edges a toddler could get hurt. Please keep him/her safe!
Beautiful piece - for me it's where woodworking becomes art.
Great design! More like this!
what you do is wonderful, from the design of the object to the production and finally to the video, I have recently started making "design" metal objects in my channel. I hope to be as good as you are someday😍

Beautiful piece

The Phone Call got me 😅🤣
I'll call you Back another Time 😄

Beautiful!! Great craftsmanship. Love your videos very informative.
Awesome. Very different and yet it does sort of fit into your portfolio of work pretty nicely. This looks like it belongs in a gallery.
Thanks man!
I'm a newcomer to the channel so I'm only just seeing this video now. Beautiful work. I think it's possibly the world's first vaporwave bench design.
"Lyle" glasses. the bench is a nice, easy design. The dimensions can be altered to give a shorter bench, with a taller table, and I can call it my "solo dining bench".
Love this playful design - it makes me want to built more wood stuff!
So unique, i think i went from Liking it to disliking it and back about 3 times! The phone at the end is what tied it altogether, i.e. giving that raised section a purpose. Definitely think you need to iterate on this design to see where the ideas go.
I am no where close to the talent. I'm just one of those people that know perfection once seen.
Well done! Both the video and especially the bench style and build.
The Lyle glasses seem more relaxed. While the Watts glasses feel more professional.
What a design!
Hello….
Dude I love this design. Such a great idea for a bench
Thanks man!
Damn. That was incredible
Amazing bench.
MOdern style really isn't my thing but I have to say this is a work of art. I could easily see this in a museum for seating in front of an expensive show piece.
Always happy to hear comments like yours! Thank you!
Killer build Shaun
Thanks man!
Really cool bench!
Great film. The bench is gorgeous. Love the design, simple yet complex. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Thanks for watching!
cool design!
Looks really really nice and very approachable. Makes me want to replicate it... but with poor man's wood.
Go for it!
Damn! Great design!!!
I feel like more of my building process is like yours was for this...less templates, more building on the fly.
Teams Watts
Oh yeah. Project looks good as always
It’d be cool to see a desk with a similar design.
Very beautiful
The look at 3:17 made this whole video!! I think every YT woodworker should have at least one video dedicated to this look :)
Absolutely beautiful ‘Organic’ piece. 😁
I really like that bench and think it would be an awesome hallway bench, so I think I'll make one but maybe use some sapele instead of walnut, and beech or Ash, depending what's available here in the UK.
I'm laying in a hospital bed after a surgery. High AF on opioids. This video kicked ass 👍👍👍👍
So nice
I have no words to describe the beauty of this piece
Siiiiiiick dude
Beautiful design. I have the phone bench from my grandmother’s house that must be from the 30’s. My mother would love this modern take on it. I may just have to build it (with credit to you of course).
That is great Shaun. It is good to see your old ending.
Интересный дизайн получился! Спасибо, что поделились! 😍😍😍

Love it!
super cool piece, thank you for the inspiration!
What a beautiful piece. Well done.
I love the combination of shapes on this bench. I would love to have this in my entryway. Well done!
This bench is incredible Shaun. I thought the one-cup coffee table would always be my favorite, but this is definitely a contender!
Brilliant design, process, fit and finish. Plenty of take home lessons here. Will be watching again.
Great to see your build, Shaun! And I loved the phone. I have an old wall style dial phone I’ve been meaning to put in my shop with a sign that declares it the complaint hotline.
Absolutely beautiful ‘Organic ‘ piece of furniture. 😁
Thanks!

That's stunning, Shaun. Well done. Reminds me if the Jetson's had wood furniture. :-)

Beautiful work, and it fits my 2U classification: unique and useful. Thanks for sharing.
Looks soooo good!
Thanks Zack!
Really inspiring back to get back to woodworking! Lyle suit you.
Wow man. That’s bloody beautiful. That’s a museum quality piece IMO.
Completely speechless except to say this is Stupid Dope Fresh Son!!! Hoping all is well guys, Dirty Jersey out!!
Thanks MMMG! You know, we always try to keep it SDF around here.

This was really cool to watch, I hope the analytics confirm that as well 👌
Just wonderful! Always love your stuff Shaun, and this one does not disappoint.
Watching this and my dog jumped onto the sofa and slapped her paw onto the phone, so I’m now subscribed I guess 😂
Great build though 👍👍
This video is the reason I subscribe to this channel.
Thumbs way up!
If ever there was a non-tool sponsor that was a perfect fit. 👓
This is as different of a build, I’ve seen you guys, build. Awesome job
Beautiful design, great build!
Great job on the bench Shaun! Thanks for sharing the video with us!💖👍😎JP
Love it! Beautiful piece! And it also gave me an idea on how to make some slatted cabinet doors :).
Right on! Thank you!
Absolutely love this piece!
Simply beautiful
@5:00 what the hell is that thing............ sad to think there are peeps who have never used one before and here I am nostalgic for it. 🤥
Beautiful piece. What I want to know is what do you think of the sap wood on the walnut. Everything else is straight and angular and it is organic. Wasn't sure about letting that into the design, but I like it.
Nice and yunik
The middle pair. Lovely family.
Can’t wait to see this get its pool noodle child safety additions. As always, nice work.
Haha, it will definitely be moved to behind a closed door once the little guy gets mobile.
That's way to beautiful to sit on. I would just call it a work of art.
Its a beautiful design, really well executed and video'd, you did however miss one "panel" in you counter.
This video made me so happy! Triangles! Slats! Telephone benches! And to top it off, I got to be both the 66th like and 11th comment!
Oh, also, Durand
Everything coming together at once! Thanks!
Very cool build, Chris. Love the modern look.
Capolavoro! (masterpiece..)
