This is a soothing video to watch. I crossed the bridge a couple years ago during the summer and it was chaotic. The west sidewalk was closed off for railing and earthquake retrofitting. This east sidewalk was a shared path for peds., and cyclists in both directions. I should've did the trip sooner.
I've run the bridge and the mountain on the other side if you go a little further than this video there is a parking lot, and on the right a walkway that takes you under the roadway and over to the other side. The road on the other side goes up the mountain almost to the pacific...an awesome view. Old gun turrets and forts there
I walked half way across this bridge on a very beautiful sunny day back in August 1976 when I was visiting San Francisco from Edmonton, Alberta,Canada.
I put up a nice video of walking across the bridge and thought it would be nice to share. Why is everyone talking about jumping off? I didn't jump off and I hadn't planned to. It was the culmination of me waking from Embarcadero, around the bay side of SF, to the GG bridge and back (14 miles).
I'm actually surprised at how long the bridge is... I've heard some people describe people who end their life's there as cowards, but I think the exact opposite... To climb over that railing and throw yourself off their, takes so much guts and courage and surely also highlights the extent of how desperately sad those poor souls are... May they all now be at rest.
Yes, but its strange how they have no fear to do it, but fear to talk to someone about their problems. It is sad these poor people couldnt speak to someone or thought this was the only way out. RIP
Great video because it gives you the impression as if your walking over the bridge. It is quite stunning just how long the Golden Gate bridge is. As for the suicide jumpers they are fearless people with unspeakable courage to take the leap however to end your life this way they obviously had a inner pain one can only imagine, may they all rip.
It’s sad how people can be so closed off to mental health problems in this day and age. It’s not about people being afraid to talk about their problems it’s that they feel they can’t. There’s a huge difference. And you’re right. They are not cowards, far from it. And the people who don’t get that are lucky that they’ve never known that darkness or know someone who did and I sincerely hope they never do. However it’s these same people who are the ones who speak so ignorantly about this. And that’s so sad.
You all prolly dont care at all but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
Visiting as an inlander I was thrilled to look down and see the sea lions and dolphins playing in the surf. Couldn't get enough of them. I definitely want to go back. Not sure about the condition of San Francisco (or California in general) right now though.
Since the bridge was built over 1,500 people have jumped off. It's 210 ft down until you hit the water. If those 1,500 people that have jumped, only 30 of them lived. 98% of people that jump die.
This bridge is a tragic sight. It’s one of the deadliest suicide locations in the world. Many people come here to tour and enjoy the scenery around this bridge while many others come here with the intention of taking their own lives. It’s very disturbing. I compare this bridge to the Twin Towers. When there is someone threatening to jump this bridge appears to resemble New York City on 9/11. The jumpers from this bridge die exactly like the jumpers on 9/11.
It would actually take a lot of bad cables for anything serious to happen. That bridge is crawled over by people all the time checking for damage, wear, etc. As a landmark, it gets a lot of attention.
In San Francisco, if the wind stops blowing for any amount of time climbs to around 80° and then its considered a heatwave. Its usually in the 60's and on the bridge can get below 50° thanks to the wind coming from the ocean.
Thanks for the tour. Loved it! I hope everybody get a chance to walk on this beautiful bridge and enjoy the amazing scenery.

This is the most jumped off bridge in the world. How sad for such a great monument to remembered.
That was an amazing walk. Nice share!

It's such an amazing Bridge, bit I wonder just how long it will last before California has to rebuild it again?

I really like visiting the bridge. The center point between the towers is such an awesome view.

that was cool great bridge but haunted listen at 10:40 mark you can hear a women whispering
This bridge was upgrade to a newer one to make the bridge sing to prevent high winds. NYC bridges doesn’t sing.

That long bridge
Is it bouncing up and down?
I'm sure it is but not noticeably due to its size.

The large patches of rust make me cringe
That's literally why they paibted it red, so that rust is less noticeable. Democrat-run cities are just wonderful!
Who else’s notice the man about to jump off?
Adidasfan 101 there is none
I live in MA so it's strange to see people wearing coats in CA. LOL
