Nearly 30 years ago as a young student i flew from Frankfurt/Germany to SFO and seeing this wonderful view of the Bay area, memories come back. San Francisco for me is one of the most impressive cities i visited in my life. Hopefully to visit SF again before i will die.
@@TMoneyBeats Indeed, yes; there is a lot of cleaning up that needs to take place. There seems to be no real leadership in S.F. in the last decade or two. I would have assumed that the financial/commercial movers & shakers would have protected the city from incompetent city officials and campaigned for real leaders but sometimes the business big shots can be just as bad. I've stayed away for the past 35 to 40 years.
I must say this video was as smooth as butter. No buffering, no unnecessary commentary. It was a joy to let the plane and camera do the talking. I am a member of the Cali Planes planespotting channel, and SFO is our home base. Great video.
Congrats. This is the best looking window seat video I've ever seen. The clarity, detail, steadiness are all excellent. Of course, the great scenery helps! Thanks for sharing.
I don't know whether or not you are a professional photographer, but you did an excellent job of pointing out the beauty of the California coastline without a twitch or shudder of your hand. A good mix between the scenery and the changing configuration of the wing also added to an overall beautiful picture. Very smooth flying and smooth photographic technique added up to a wonderful overall experience. Thank you so much!!
I once was approaching SFO in evening when the city lights just came on. There was a teenager sat next to me looking out the window. I will never forget the look on his face. He told me that he's from India and it's his first time traveling to America.

I have flown to San Francisco airport a few times but never viewed it in the way shown in this excellent video. Video has been taken in the perfect manner.
Awesome footage! I'm a resident of Sacramento, so I'm not far from the San Francisco Bay area. Made this approach into SFO many years ago, 1993, on a KLM 747 from Amsterdam. Stupid me, I had a full size VHS cam at the time but couldn't get any footage because I thought I was suppose to have a window seat but it ended up being a seat near one of the fuselage bulkheads. Besides it was on the starboard side, so no way I could of got any of good video anyways. I always think one of the coolest parts of this approach is the smooth 180 degree arc that the aircraft make minutes before the actual landing
The beautiful Golden Gate Bridge appears right at the start. Great aerial of the Bay Area. Good viz, and then the Bay Bridge appears as you go south, Golden Gate Park at 2:27, on down south -- what a beautiful view and a great day for flying! The San Mateo Bridge and Hwy. 101 south, past the Points, the Basin, Foster City below the San Mateo Bridge, then banking left and setting up for the approach from the south into SFO! The view has changed (more buildings and more development by the Bay) since I last flew over my old stompin' grounds! Gorgeous day at 1:20 p.m. in San Francisco! THANKS for the memories!
Took a flight to Chicago from Cedar Rapids and then to San Francisco to see family every year. In March. Alot of planes had to be deiced before take off but we always made it... What wonderful pilots and airport crews
i remember flying into san francisco back in 1989 early that time it was cold!!!!!!! because i came back from hawaii after being in the summer like climate, yikes i remember how nice it was to see it from the sky that was my first time to san francisco and i lived there for long time thanks for showing that viedeo it brings back memories good ones
Cool video. I think San Francisco is the most beautiful city in the world, from every angle. I may be biased, having grown up there, and, of course, I haven't seen every city. No matter how many times you've landed at SFO it feels like you're going to land in the water..., until, a few seconds before touchdown, you're over the runway. (And if on Korean Air, I'd guess you'd have genuine doubts.) Haven't been back in a while - and it's too expensive to live there. But this brings back the memories. Thanks for uploading.
SF can logically be claimed as that or at least one of the most beautiful because it encompasses a slice of the whole world in its metro geographically, ethnically, culturally and climate wise. The whole world in one. A real life utopia
Grew up in the City. Reminds me of my first return flight from Europe in 1990 on a full Lufthansa 747. When we were approaching the Golden Gate bridge the pilot announced on the intercom that the bridge was coming into view. Many of the visiting German tourists then stood up to get a look through the windows and take some pictures. Funny to me as you tend to take for granted tourist attractions in your own local area.
When I was in the Army I was stationed at the Crissy Army Airfield at the Presidio of San Francisco. We lived in base housing across the Bay in Marin County. I drove across the GG Bridge twice a day, and that was cool. That was in 1969 to early 1971. Our daughter was born there, but we took her "home" to Pennsylvania when my Army days were over. We still love San Francisco and we fly back once in a while. In your video, you flew over my former house (a group of homes). Our community (in a valley) was right in the center of your video at 1:33
That was wonderful! Thank you for posting this video! I felt like I took a trip without the hassle in the cost. I frequent the Bayshore by the airport and watch the airplanes come in just as you did. But no one is captured it's so beautiful as you did thank you!
"If you´re going to San Francisco / You´re gonna meet some gentle poople there". So many places, so many good memories from that wonderful city! Thanks a lot for the video.
This is the most beautiful video about landing San Francisco international airport !! It’s all about luck as you know the weather of San Francisco is tricky. You have perfect window but you may not come across the perfect route. Even your flight comes early with such great route, the weather may not cooperate... you may experience foggy or cloudy weather. Making Such a great video is like a perfect storm !! Good job
Foster City the jets make this cool noise to slow down. And Pacifica they take off right over Muscle Rock which is also awesome. Bay Area is one of my fav places. So advanced compared to the rest of the crappy US
It looks like a brand new airplane without any stain.... It reminds me my days one of the major companies in SF area. Even I can see the HQ during this landing... Great job.
Enjoyed video, passed through San Francisco to Las Vegas . Went to see one of the last shows of Donny and Marie , In 2019. Hope to return to San Francisco when we can after this Covid 19 pandemic. Best wishes from the U K !
I have a friend who’s a pilot with United airlines and he’s told me that S.F. Airport is one of the hardest airports to land at because of the crosswinds
Very well shot. Better than actually sitting at the window and looking out. Great job! And that constant chattering of kids (probably) in the background adds realism to the whole clip, as though you are actually in that plane.
Just gorgeous. It's as if the pilot said 'let's give 'em the tour before we take her in.' The mountains, the landmarks, the bay with it's shipping, all of it. It's such a shame when beautiful cities don't get an approach that does them justice. (I've always thought that 'Frisco' is the true west Coast counterpart of the Big Apple, rather than that Johnny-Come-Lately, the admittedly bigger L. A.)
I find the landing at night slightly more pleasing than in the daytime. It offers more beauty from the lighting but you get a more clear version of SF in the daytime. Currently waiting for my flight to SFO !
Flew in/out of SFO in August 1997 on the old USAir, it was one of several CA fly/drive/working vacations I was on from 1982-2001. Only SFO in August 1997. Brings back a lot of memories for me.
My US Navy homeport was the former NAS Alameda, which you could see across the bay during the first part of the video. I loved flying in and out of Frisco on commercial planes. Such nice views when weather was good. Something that not too many Alabama boys ever get to see..the only other view that can rival this one is flying into Honolulu, Hawaii...great video, mfedosov...
ICE, do you know any of the major cities of the world that can be called PEACEFUL? LOL. Its like all the others, except is has a unique beauty that no other city on earth can match...
Just be aware that it is a very small city, but it has the most beautiful neighborhoods in the world. It also has stunning views from strategic points! I have lived here since late October 1981. I celebrated my 21st Birthday just two weeks after I moved here. San Francisco gives you access to more beautiful places lying North, like the Sonoma Valley and the Napa Valley, both of which are just a few hours drive away! You have to come out and be here to experience "here!"
It's nice there, especially the outer areas. A ride down the coast to Carmel is a must. Walk the bridge, visit Alcatraz, take a day trip up to Muir Woods and Sausalito.
@@greatwall8158 Thank you Glenn, I really love San Francisco but I'm living in Europe, I want to go there one day so who knows? Take care and have a great Sunday. :)
I love this video. Watched from beginning to end; my brother called me from Fiji in between 😂 The video carried on after our conversation. All those bridges criss crossing across the Bay were seen. And those cities up and down this part of California; from the North, South Bay, East Bay. Saw the main vein 101. I felt a little nostalgic, coming to America in 2010, and now planning to return after completing my mission; it's been a great stay in this great land called the United States. God bless America. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
As Jeffer J said, great camera work and you were in a perfect seat. As I Bay Area native, I've only flown into SFO maybe twice. I usually flew out of Oakland which at one point you can see that airport across the bay.
Great landing! Nice view of the GG Bridge, the Oakland-Bay Bridge and the San Mateo Bridge. As soon as the plane ✈️ flies over the San Mateo Bridge it needs to make a U-turn for the approach to the SFO airport. Used to live there!
Yep. Planes coming in on a northern approach have to overshoot the airport and make a turn over Silicon Valley or the Dumbarton Bridge to get back to the runways (which are parallel and often freak people out when two jets are landing at the same time).
The thing about landing at SFO is that the jets make their approach from the bay. And as they get lower and lower, that water gets closer and closer. Then you find yourself thinking.....now, I know there's gotta be a runway somewhere....please let there be one.
Great video. I live here so I know what I'm looking at. I've watched a handful of these take off and landing videos out of SFO and I can say yours is the best I've seen. Thanks for posting.
Very nice approach and landing and great video you have here. This is actually THE BEST video I have seen of an approach from north to south, then the same turn hard left and up into the SF Airport. I live in the North Bay Area and we'd fly in and out of SFO all the time as kids. But we were arriving from CMH and ORD airports so we'd come in from around Stockton and over the E. Bay Hills to around Alviso/Milpitas, then come up to land. Everything looks nice from the air! Dealing with everything on the ground is a different matter, e.g. snobbery, poverty, traffic, high prices, etc...
Wow, what a great vid. I saw where I used to work at 10:22. lol! The tan rectangular areas above are actually aquatic farms but I don't know what is growing in them now. They were growing brine shrimp for some reason at one point. :\
Me too. I grew up in San Bruno. Way up on the ridge near Skyline Blvd. Beautiful Vista. I could see the airport, Golden Gate National Cemetery. Watched Highway 280 being built. Good memories. Saw the 707 engine catch fire and fall off the wing back in '65.
Nearly 30 years ago as a young student i flew from Frankfurt/Germany to SFO and seeing this wonderful view of the Bay area, memories come back. San Francisco for me is one of the most impressive cities i visited in my life. Hopefully to visit SF again before i will die.

@@greatwall8158 Thank you Glenn, I really love San Francisco but I'm living in Europe, I want to go there one day so who knows? Take care and have a great Sunday. :)
@@bandfromtheband9445 the city proper is 46.9 sq miles but the SF metro is absolutely huge and urban throughout.
Wow, what an awesome video - simply beautiful and so well filmed. Thank you very much. Subscribed!
Left SF 6 yrs. ago and will be returning in just 2 days. I will have a similar seat and hope to catch the same views.
As Jeffer J said, great camera work and you were in a perfect seat. As I Bay Area native, I've only flown into SFO maybe twice. I usually flew out of Oakland which at one point you can see that airport across the bay.
The microclimates of the SF area are on full display in its topography
I feel like once again I'm landing at my beautiful SAN FRANCISCO where for good I left my heart...
Hi
Same as Honolulu. Both are impressive.
I love San Francisco. My home airport! ✈️
I have landed twice coming from the south but this approach from the north at the beginning of the Bay and over the Golden Gate bridge, fantastic !!
what a treat...thank you so much...beautiful! from New mexico
Great video. I live here so I know what I'm looking at. I've watched a handful of these take off and landing videos out of SFO and I can say yours is the best I've seen. Thanks for posting.
Spectacular video! Thanks!
Best SFO Approach video ever, thanks
Joe Scanlon I was thinking the same thing
this view is literally childhood memories for me
Very nice approach and landing and great video you have here.
Beautiful aerial view spectacular...
Thanks for sharing such a great video.👍🇺🇸😀
Very nice landing. Always dreamed of becoming an airline pilot.
Beautiful!!! I love my San Francisco.🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Really all included - very nice! A very good directed video! One year before you - I landed there - but from Las Vegas and short filmed the touchdown.
Nice vid 👍 really good to see how big San Francisco looks makes my city look like a rural town lmao
Lovely, beautiful video.
Flying into my home town. 😘
Very nice video! Nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge and SF peninsula from the air. Happy Landings. 🛬
What airplane is this?
My Favorite airport. Wonderful video
great video, thanks for posting. reminds me of my trip, Toronto to san fran.
Very nice landing in San Francisco 😍 my dream City
Excellent clarity.
Thanks for posting. It reminds me of all my 13 years of travels & 3 were to SFO. Yes sadly enough- I, too left my
Thank you for sharing, a super awesome clear video 😉
Sitting in my home, I saw the SF airport where my son had gone recently. Thumbs up.
