    Does the Willys tire rub against the bumper? I've heard upgrading to steel rear on sport causes rub and could require the rubi spare tire carrier.

    That bumper is very thin and weak compared to aftermarket right?

    • @RyanHudziak
      @RyanHudziak 3 роки тому +2

      Yes, it is. And there are a lot of forums stating that if/when you hit something with it, the bumper will damage the body of the Jeep. I'm not sure if I can recommend this rear bumper. If I could go back, I'd probably get something else. The front version looks nice though (and installed easier).

      I've had it on for about a week, and it's nice. If you're running anything larger than stock tires, your spare probably isn't going to fit (I have 285/70/17s), and I had to get the plate to move the spare up a couple inches. Also, if you have a Sport/Sport S/Sahara, the end caps aren't going to line up with your fender flares, so it's not going to look factory anyways. I'm working on a "creative" solution right now, but there aren't very many good options out there.
      That said, unless you have a plastic bumper on a Rubicon, I'm not sure if this is the best upgrade. There are a lot of great rear bumpers out there, especially ones that have a spare tire mount (to relieve the weight off the tailgate). If it's not going to look factory afterwards (the fender flare issue), I'm not sure this is the best bumper option for most people looking to upgrade their plastic bumper.

    Where are the slots for the back sensors ...

  • @mrbluepencil_
    @mrbluepencil_ 3 роки тому +1

    Any provisions for the sensors? Would be good if there was an option that keeps the sensors.

      There's a great video of a guy installing this steel bumper to replace his plastic ones, and he goes through the details of taking out the old sensors and putting them in this bumper. He said that he bought it from a friend, but I think it's also common for the knock off version of this bumper to have the holes.
      I have the Sport S without sensors, so I didn't have to worry about that.

    Will it fit a Willey's if you don't have rubicon flares

    • @RyanHudziak
      @RyanHudziak 3 роки тому +1

      The bumper will, but the end caps won't. You need Rubicon flares. There are a bunch of forums of people creatively making their own end caps for this bumper if they have a Sahara or Sport. Some people have went as far as replacing the rear flares with the Rubicon version.
      I just put this bumper on last night, and the end caps definitely don't look right on a Sport. Until I can make something creatively, it looks fine with the body exposed (similar to other aftermarket bumpers). But... the whole point of buying a Mopar bumper was to have that factory look (I might as well have just bought an aftermarket bumper that's heavier duty than this one).
      Great video! These are always awesome, definitely helped me install.

    no...............thanks! Bad design! Lic plate killer! Better bumpers on the market than the Mopar one.

    • @RyanHudziak

      Agreed. I bought the front/rear set, and I'm not sure if I can recommend this bumper. Maybe I'll check back in after a year. I just installed it last night, and I don't know if I can recommend it.
      Also, I have 33" tires that fit perfectly on my plastic Sport bumper. The Rubicon steel bumper sits higher, so I also had to buy a tire relocation bracket ($90). Just a heads up for anyone else considering this bumper.
