Hey there I have the same exact 89 s10 4.3. But mine came with an edelbrock intake manifold would that change any of the air ratio? Also trying to find out what is the sweet spot for timing these trucks. Thank you in advance
hello, Mike. Excellent video i am just doing the intake manifold gasket today. what size cfm carb did you use? i might do this conversion i have a 1992 GMC Sierra with the 4.3. also you you have a part number for the HEI that you used? That would be a huge help. Thank you.
What are the torque specs and I need gaskets with the rear two holes open(not blocked like yours). I can only find the two rears blocked on new gaskets. Should I cut these two holes open to allow flow?
@@georgebabcock569 I'm replacing the engine in my 92 chevy blazer (tbi) the engine I pulled has all 4 ports blocked with metal, but the new engine has all 4 open. Should I block the back 2 only. It states to block the back two from 1987 and later. As in 1988, 1989,1990, ect or older like 1986,1985, ect
Hi thanks for your video, I have a question related to the water ports. I’m working now with a 92 Cheyenne 4.3L TBI, and I just pulled the intake manifold. The manifold has 4 water ports open, also the old gasket have the 4 water ports open. However, it’s hard to find the new intake manifold gaskets with the four ports open... I can only find the gaskets with 2 water ports open and 2 blocked. My question is : It’s ok to block those 2 water ports? Or do you know the part number for the gaskets with 4 ports open? Thanks for your answer!
Why? Are they supposed to be open? I have a 91S 10 and have to get the gasket done on it so if the gaskets Ibai are blocked should they be cut open or left blocked???
It’s a pressure release thing I read. I was wondering the same about mine. You can delete it but need to install some kinda of bleed valve on the back two pistons. It’s supposed to let out air bubbles and steam or something
Hi Danny, I didn't time it exact but at idle with the advanced still on, It was about 8 to 12 degrees? , but I just looked at the old marks and matched, it, thanks mike
@@mikehaduck-travel-mechanic884 sheesh ok. Now i know what to expect when i get ready to do my leaking 4.3 sometime in within the next week or so. Thanks.
Another awesome video! Thanks Mike. I half expected you to say "you gotta wet down the gasket if you want it to stick. Ha ha.
thanks M H, I been trying to get to fixing that for a while, mike
Skillfully orchestrated.
Thanks, mike
nice! that truck should run forever lol!!
It better, I ain't buying another one,
Nice job Mike.

hello from Argentina. Could you tell me please why the last ducts of coolant are close?. thanks
I do not know, but when I took off old ones they were the same

Hi lock, I changed over to a edlebrock carb and it works great, the distributor still worked fine but I changed it anyway, thanks Mike
Thanks Mike
Thanks, Mike
Which bolts go where 😅 I messed up now I got a pile of about 30 bolts and don’t know which are which
So much space to work with. In new cars you can hardly fit a hand in.
What is the mpg?
What do those choke wires connect to? I want to convert to carb too.

Hi Robert, I can't answer that, I save the old gaskets and mark what side they came from, you got to be careful, 3
Why were the 2 rear coolant ports blocked off on the new gasket? I've never seen that before.
Duderama 67 the intake doesn't have a pass through coolant passage '

Hi Bill, I am afraid to every buy a newer one. lol. mike
also do u have a manual trans, if not how does the trans shift without signal to ecm from tps?
Hi I got a standard trans
Mike do you get a lot more power with the 4bbl carb?
Hi Wildmongoose, I think it might run a better , but I never goose it, I just drive normal, but the truck runs better than it ever did, thanks mike
You must of put a different ignition in with HELI distributor cap to convert it over to carburetor. It use to be a TBS I'm thinking.
Hi Mr , the old distributor was still working and was advancing fine, but I did change it to a hei distributor, no problem, thanks, Mike
how do u rig up the throttle linkage when u do the conversion from fuel injection to carburetor?thanks
Hi, just do what you got to do,

What more would I need to take off to remove the cylinder heads?
Hi Jeff, that is a whole different thing, maybe the intake manifold edelbrok intake would work, thanks, mike
The exhaust manifolds, Valve covers.
How long did it take to finish?
Hi Pete, a good 6 hrs, Mike
