@keatonsanders Like you, the fire axe is one of my favorites. I unfortunately do not know what all this fire axe has seen. I did take some steel wool and oil to clean up the head and wiped the handle down with BLO. i truly appreciate you. Checking out the video, and there are more in the series to come.

Bell system was one of the phone companies. Here in the south they were South Western Bell. In Colorado they were Mountain Bell, and probably went by other names around the country. Found out not too long ago, they were always owned by AT&T
That handle came out perfectly on that Craftsman Connecticut. Great job!
I truly appreciate that. It was the first handle I made. I absolutely love the last handle I made from bloodwood. It is absolutely beautiful.
And yes you’re right, the square opening on that bell systems hatchet is for the square bolts on pole, whether it be foot pegs or through bolts!

I think the square hole in the axe is to tighten or install the iron steps to climb the pole.
