What were those!?!?!?! Haha the tool you used to remove that step wedge?also hello Remy
Fencing pliers
@_BigLife_ man I need a pair of those and that project turned out amazing I'm a die hard file by hand guy and i can get a polished edge but I lean more and more to getting a belt sander just for that mirror polish It's absolutely beautiful
Nicely done Ryan. The handle is beautiful
Thank you for your kind words. I really like the contrast between the Padduke and curly maple. I'm excited to do more custom handles.
Well done, another fine job.
Thank you I truly appreciate that
Excellent job man!!! I really like the shape you went with on the palm swell. Also very happy to see I'm not the only one who uses fencing pliers for pulling step wedges. They are a phenomenal tool to have in the shop.
That truly appreciate that. The fencing pliers work so well for so many different things. As soon as I decided to put decorative, palm swells on the handle, the traditional style went out the window. But that's okay. I think it turned out great.
yo big life ots joneszzy you killed it beautiful hatchet ❤👌
Thanks man I truly appreciate the kind words and checking out the video. Still trying to grow this channel
Beautiful work Ryan 🔨👍😊
Thank you, I truly appreciate that.
That is what I am going to do this weekend on one of mine! great video, except my wife says wheres Remi!
I had to throw something together quickly. I promise he will be in this next one.
Nice video Ryan with a great voice over 🛠👍😊
Thank you. I was worried about the voice over.
Great walk around. tHanks!
I appreciate that. Thank you for checking out the video.
Great video Ryan and very cool vise! I think we could all follow your lead and do a better job of maintaining our vises.
Maybe it's because I'm a collector, but I really try to take care of them. I say that but I wiped down the blower and screwdriver after I used them. I just can't use anything I own and not take care of it. Thank you for checking out my video David.
Nice job!!! I like your Shopsmith. I bought one used in the 80s and had it for 35 years or so. When I retired and sold my house moved into a Condo and had to let it go. Rather than sell it I gave it to my nephew so at least I know where it is. Made my girlfriends grandson a baseball bat made out of ash on the Shopsmith. Also made 4 jewelry boxes before I got rid of it. I Should go tag sale and look for one of those vises. On e-bay crappy looking ones are going for a buck fifty or more.
Thanks for checking out the video. Love. The shop smith, it definitely comes in handy. I still need to learn how to turn on it.
Grandpa got me carrying a hawkbill. I use a Pringles can and sandpaper. To sharpen them. You can also use the corner of a stone. Im a sharpening, axe and knife junkie lol You can use red lock tight. To glue thin shim to the back of that blade tang. . To increase pressure. or you could centerpunch it. To raise a burr which will accomplish the same thing.
Thanks for stopping you and checking out the video and for leaving me information on how to correct the problem, I appreciate it.
@@_BigLife_ you’re welcome
Cracked wedge isn’t a bad thing l as long as they touch. Stain swelled the wood.
That was my first correct wedge, so I thought oh no. It's held together perfectly fine and I know I have cracked a few more since then. Thanks for stopping buying checking out the video.
Tape over the eye. Then draw the eye on the tape. Tape then goes on the handle. Old trick I hope helps people. Clamp the eye shut. And recut the kerf
I have been using the tape trick for quite a while now. Have not tried the clamp trick, but I plan on it. I have been using adhesive Sandpaper and sanding the curve cut open a bit more.
I like that blue!
From what I understand it is original paint
That's an awesome vise collection Ryan that Morgan is a really nice shop vise I was surprised how much the jaws can open I'm always on the lookout foe one
I have always been under the impression that a good 4.5" vise is a perfect size for most homeowners. If you can find a coach maker / sheet metal vise even better. That design has not only a large opening but larger jaws for holding material
@_BigLife_ I love it man it's beautiful
Very cool video bro I never thought about vice maintenance before. I git that new one to clean up but definitely will be hitting the other two
Thanks for checking out the video. Personally, yeah, I think maintening any tool. Is it a must to keep them lasting a lifetime
Excellent video man!!!! The voice over seemed incredibly natural and felt intentional. That Morgan is a sweet vice!!! As are your others. I like the grease oil mix tip too! I may need to mix up a batch of that soon. Great video!
I truly appreciate the kind words. That oil and grease mix does work really well. It's not too tacky. It's not too runny, it's like porridge, it's just right
@@_BigLife_ You should market that. "Lionhead Goldy Locks Vice Porridge"
@@Nsvens89 I don't know why I said that lol
@_BigLife_ haha I actually say it too. I knew exactly what you meant.
@gordonaddison307 Thank you for the inspiration
Oh come on, try it out on the beard! 🤣🤣🤣🤣Nice one Ryan, as usual it's beautiful.
Lol I appreciate it
Excellent tutorial!
Thank you. Trying something different
Excellent video brother You know i love me some doubles lol
Thanks brother. I know you like your double bits. I appreciate you checking out the video.
Awesome, I have one someone gave me and I need just to clean it up, cannot wait to see what you do to the brush axe, have not started mine, kind of waiting to see what you do to your's!!
I hope to save the handle but I haven't pulled all the tape off to see how bad it is. Hopefully I can save it
Very nicely done, that turned out beautiful. Love those kinds of exes as well. Thanks for sharing.
Cruisers are definitely one of my favorite patterns. I hope he appreciates it as much as we do. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.
Very good, Boz!
Thank you, I truly appreciate that
Fantastic, please gun blue the screws .
I truly appreciate that. You are the first to answer that question. I have been contemplating it. Thanks
Great job on the build man!!! That came out great. It's hard not to love a crusier and thats a nice one. The repair came out great too.
Thanks, man. I truly appreciate that first time I tried repairing a handle in this manner.
I'm still so impressed. I'm impressed with the history and the workmanship and the video. I'm just still not sure what to say. All I know is this is really, really cool. I'll tell you more later.
I truly appreciate that. I tried something a little different with the video. Thank you for checking it out. I truly hope I got the information about your job corect.
Everything about this video is absolutely awesome brother. Great work!!!
I truly appreciate the kind words.
I love it, oh my wife says hi, and just to let you know Remi is the star!!!!! thats the only reason she watched 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know that's the only reason she watches lol
Cool project! I am glad you chose to make tool videos and not pew pew videos! 👍😎👍
I'm glad you're enjoying them. Yes, true at first I wanted to have a pew pew channel, but this is very rewarding.
@@_BigLife_ It sure is! Pew pews are tools for death and destruction (negative). Other tools are for repairing, building and creating things (positive). We all have more than enough negative stuff to deal with every day. Our time is much better spent on creative, positive stuff! 👍😎👍
That's really beautiful Ryan 🛠👍😊
I truly appreciate that
Nice job Ryan, really like your process. Gives me the confidence to do this one day when I get time!
This is how I learned. It's not hard, just take your time and you will be fine
Awesome video brother. I’m a sandpaper kind of guy myself. I have a customer commission I’m gonna be starting this week!!!!
Thank you for checking out the video and commenting. I hope you do a video on your project. I can't wait.
Very nice job I'm sure that customer will cherish it forever
Thanks buddy. He really loves the full size double bit. I sent him earlier in the year. I'm sure he'll love this one, too
It looks beautiful love the colors....yes it would be cool to see whole thing from head to mask.Thank you for the videos
I don't know what happened to some of the footage. I'm making the mask but it was messed up. I'll definitely do another mask video. Improbably, link one i've already done to this one
Came out great man!! I've yet to try a proud wedge but I like the idea! Very happy to see another guy talking about laying that shoulder down so it's a nice smooth transition. I'm right there with you on the no glue and only BLO. I widen my kerf with with the c-clamp trick but they sand paper on the saw looks to work well too. Great job on the build.
Yeah, it has to flow smoothly in transition nicely in the hand. I tried the C clamp and it works But have found this saves me just a little bit of time
That looks bloody awesome Ryan, proper pukka job buddy 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Vincent, I truly appreciate the kind words. It takes me longer to hang an axe than some, but I take as much pride in hanging that I would any other project and try to do it to the best of my ability.
I like your new projects! I have a question for you did you send me a picture of a leg vise and if you did can you send it again, even better make a little video on it, I bought one not sure how I want to go with it!!!!!!!
I will send you the picture and link to the mobile vise stand
Thanks for the demo. I hVe never tried windex but I will.
For me at all depends on the tool. And how dirty or greasy it is. If it has a lot of caked on grease in grime, I will use a degreaser four break cleaner
I really appreciate how you discuss and explain your thought process in the methods you use. Are there any products you actively avoid using on your tools?
I think it really depends on the tool and your the desired outcome you are seeking. I would always suggest starting out minimally, abrasive and working your way up. One thing I have found is if you put aluminum in a strong chemical decreaser to strip paint, check it frequently, as the decreaser will actually eat the aluminum.
Nice one Ryan, great video buddy 👍👍👍
Thanks Vincent. Have you done any tools lately?
@@_BigLife_ not recently buddy, I'm in the middle of doing a total refurb on an air rifle, it's taking far longer than I thought 👍👍
Thank you John
Very nice man🤘🏻
I truly appreciate that. Any way I can get ahold of you? My email should be linked on my page.
@@_BigLife_ just e mailed you man
The Axe for a give away is a great idea. I am approaching 1K Subs and I am trying to decide what will be a good give away to celebrate. That is a great Mail Haul. have a good week.
I truly appreciate that, and congratulations on getting close to a thousand. I have debated doing a giveaway to push for subscribers for a while, but I decided why not. It's worth a shot.
That’s an awesome mail call bro
Definitely love the give away idea bro very cool
I really should start recording more of the mail calls.
@@_BigLife_ do it bro unboxings are fun to watch
Love the videos man!!! And glad the gloves fit. They are definitely supposed to fit snug and are a bit stiff to start. After wearing them a little they break in and you get better dexterity. As far as the tommy axe poll my guess is someone was really using it heavy for hammering or it got beat with a hammer. Ive got a small sledge thats faces are slightly mushroomed in a similar way and im sure thats hardened. But i expect you can judge better once you take a file to it. And simce its one without the No.TA stamp on the reverse side you could do a channel etch on that too!! Looking forward to the upcoming projects man!
I've never thought about laser engraving. My channel logo on a head, that would be interesting
I like the give away idea. I think you should laser etch it and the leather sheath with your channel name and logo. It would be a nice touch. Good luck growing your channel brother.
I also love the idea of the channel logo on the giveaway axe! The logo looks sweet and would make a great axe stamp.
I truly appreciate that. I do have a leather stamp for the mask. I also can do a custom mosaic pen with my logo or letter stamp. My name into the handle
That turned out nice. Great job.
I think I did okay for my first tote repair. I truly appreciate you watching and commenting.
its as big as you can get without being overwhelmed by its size! The biggest is the 8" and that thing is a monster! The 6" is manageable! I love the curves on it, especially this one as its an older model but am digging the newer 600 one as well and I think its pleasing to look at too!
It amazed me to find out that the eight inch waze more than twice what the sixth inch does. It is definitely a monster.
@@_BigLife_ did you see Keith’s video on the 8” Wilton on UA-cam? What a huge vise! I don’t mind getting the 6” for a decent price but the 8” will be of no use to me! It will be a looker and people may thing it’s a plastic store display model!
@@ronitsingh85 I've seen a couple of videos on UA-cam on 8 inch wiltons and other vices not sure if I saw Keith's. I will double check
Amazing job man! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you. This vise stand has come in so handy.
