Great seeing videos from someone working with the same shop size. I appreciate the realistic review. Too many videos compare something like this to a machine that is substantially bigger and more expensive.

Great video. To avoid snipes try marrying a sacrificial board on each end as you feed it. Another thing that works is lifting the piece as you feed it in an pull it out.
I just bought one of these used, I could not even get it to run until I watched this, I did not have the dust collector installed. I was just trying to see if it even worked....I would really love to see you do a Full walk thru on how to use every thing this will do. I know it would sure be help to many others as well.
Should joint gace first then edge so there's a flat face against the fence .and seems like it works alot better as a jointer than planer since it's 8" . I jave a dewalt 13" planer already so the 8inch jointer aspect Would be good addition to my shop . And it's lightweight thanks for the honest full review
Hi Joe, If you’re looking for a space saver this little jointer may be the one for you. I did end up buying an old delta jointer and a Dewalt DW734 planer. I have one like your’s only mine is a clone. The two things I don’t like is the router sized motor and the 1/2” cutter head belt. As they say, you get what you pay for.
I agree! I try to not take too thick of cuts when I put wood through it. I accidentally took too big of a bit early on and I thought the Machine would tear itself apart. The cutter motor is definitely on the weak side. I mostly use it for soft wood and thin cutting now. Thanks for commenting. Pete
I picked up a used one not too long ago and after running a few pieces thru the jointer I discovered the infeed table sets lower on the fence side than it does on the other. I can’t seem to track down any suggestions on how to fix this and the manual doesn’t mention anything on this situation. Any tips on how to fix this?

The machine looks pretty wonky and cheap in my opinion. I think if they focused more on making it just one or the other that it would be more solid of machine. The only thing it has going for it is the 8 inch blade, but the underpowered motor makes for some hard work on the machine. Great review and thank you for posting. Keep at it and you will definitely learn it over time.
Thanks Samuel, I agree the motor is under powered. Anything more than a thick 1/16 of an inch cut would bog out the motor and clog the outfeed chip collector. Since I have a fair bit of time on it now I try to only do light passes to get to my thickness. I’m still gonna keep this little beast, I have a little less room in my new garage now so it’s definitely paying off with it’s small size. Thx for watching, Pete

Hi James, I don’t know if they fixed it but my fence was loose too. I had to put a drop of loctite on the adjustment screw to make sure it didn’t back off. I’m always gonna use the fence in a 90 degree angle so it want that big of a deal for me. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Thanks for this. I've been sitting on this fence for over a year now. You have some good info in there. I was wondering though... most of the bad reviews I've read involve alignment issues, particularly with the jointer bed not being coplanar. What happens when you put a square on pieces you've run through this machine?
Hello, I haven’t had any issues with material coplanar surfaces. As long as I tighten the knobs after I adjust the bed level my material comes out just fine. Or more specifically good enough for me. I haven’t noticed any huge issues that would change my mind on buying this machine. There is a very small bit of movement, I would call it more of a bending of the machine when I force material down the bed and into the cutters, so take your time and don’t push to hard. Before I made the video I used the jointer to make a flag. All of the pieces came out nice a square. I did use the tightening knobs on the bed fence and checked for square a couple times. As I progress with my woodwork and am able to buy better quality tools I plan to upgrade. But for right now this tool fits my shop and my budget, Hope that helps!

Hi David, The fence alignment bracket on the back was not 100% in the right shape on mine. I took it off and bent it back into shape in a vice. After that the tightness of the alignment screws held it in place at 90 deg. I think it was damaged by the previous owner. Most of the bolts were loose when I got it. It was a bit of a project for the guy and I think he kinda gave up on it, and sold it to me. I frankly don’t want to risk knocking it out of square so I leave it at 90 degrees. Before I use the jointer fence I check it and it’s very close to 90. If I’m jointing a piece to build a panel I flip the edges to match up the error in the joint so it cancels out. Or that’s what in tell myself! That seems to work out good enough for me. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Hi Eljbarr, Up until the day I sold it the combo planer was working great. The only maintenance was I changed the blades and inspected the drive chain. I started to mill my own stock so I needed a larger jointer bed and wider planer. I still recommend the jet combo jointer planer. If you don’t need to plane wide boards or joint long stock it’s a great machine. If you happened to watch my cutting board video you can see my new jointer, it’s an older Delta. Hi Gerald, This is the Jet JJP-8BT 8-Inch Jointer/ Planer. Feel free to look up the specs online. I haven’t used it at a job site, I use it in my garage and don’t move it much. The unit is a bit heavy to be moving around job to job, but it could be managed with a cart or if you put wheels on it. Good luck! Pete

It doesn't appear you have "Mastered" this machine or have that much experience planing and joining so I'm hesitant to take your word for it because I see you making too much adjustments and not so confident. Much like what I'd do because I don't have experience either. I'd love to see a representative use this machine as well as someone who has had years of experience using other machines to be able to get a really good feel this machine is ideal? Who knows how good this thing really is or isnt but thank you for the video.
Hi J, You’re right, I haven’t mastered this machine. I’m just some guy in a garage giving out my opinion of a budget friendly piece of equipment. I wish I could spend more time working in the shop and perfecting my skills. I needed a solution and found a reasonable answer with this combo that solved two of my tool needs in one small footprint. Doe, I have the same planner in my shed and have used it for 3 small projects so far. And so far it has done well. I am no pro in woodworking however. I purchased mine on CL for $150 and I think for a 2 in 1 tool for my small shop it has worked pretty good.
