The thing with the guys taking over barbieland is that okay the barbie's didn't give them power or enough attention but they weren't treating them bad but when the ken's took over, they destroyed the barbie's property, belittle them with making them wear maid outfit, stole everything from them, they just immediatly started treating them awfully
My main issue with this was aside form Allan, every guy got brainwashed.
I feel that in situations like this, there are three categories, a) the people that just want to oppress people like they were oppressed, b) the ones that are bitter, but want to be the bigger person and actually not want to harm people and c) Allan. The people who just don’t believe in this ideology.
I hate that they had even one guy in their court and just immediately went back to not including him, fully.
Yes, they included weird barbie, but was like yeah, we don’t need to be co-ed.
Dude, that is what caused your problems in the first place. Made the message of the movie hollow for me.
I know it probably didn't happen but the idea of Barbie getting her first period and immediately regretting becoming human is so funny to me.

I laughed so hard in the theater when the depression Barbie ad showed Pride and Prejudice because I am constantly watching Jane Austen films as a coping mechanism. I cackled so loud that several people turned to look at me and it didn't help that my mom was sitting next to me saying "that's so you"
As a queer person who grew up with Barbie and was on the official website for the online games (missed opportunity for promotions), it meant the world to me that this exists.

The Production Design of this movie was just so good and honestly, I just want all the outfits. There was some chatter about ‘Barbie Land’ being a permanent attraction and I do hope it is.

The cast list during the announcement just kept getting more and more ridiculous. However, great ensemble performance by everyone. Ate and left no crumbs.
I watched this in the cinema with my family (my mum and 3 sisters), and we were sat next to a group of maybe 5 teen girls. In the "anybody ever think about dying" scene, me and that group of girls all went "yes" "every day" "all the time" 😂 it was an amazing moment, but then i turned around to my family, and the shock on their faces 😭 worth it tho lol

There was this man that kept yelling “WHAT?!” At any significant moment throughout the entire movie. It low key ruined the experience for me, he even said it during America’s monologue. It was so annoying but also so fitting, like a man would be the one to ruin the experience for me.

I liked this a little more upon a second watch, but feel a lot of the nuance was taken out.
I also felt the humor was just “i am going to say the joke. Isn’t that funny? Love the joke. We made a joke”. I hate that kind of humor.

I’m very surprised that this to you is the best movie ever.
my only issue with this movie is how fast the kens are forgiven. and how the women have to be the one to forgive and extend the hand. and basically baby talk the men through everything. i’m tired of sending this message to little girls.
I just wish the movie was slightly more crisp with the run time but it was such a fun experience. My only regret is that I didn’t wear pink to the theatre and I had a whole wardrobe prepared from December 2022.
