    I love the fact that this channel is full of SP videos. It’s frustrating when I go to a channel & the videos I’m looking for are scattered all over for the equipment I’m learning. Some channels make a series but most don’t. I like that this channel is dominated by SP videos. Thanks

    For the sx user it is easier to reverse the sample that you hear the bass drum as a „whoop“. Cut that of and reverse again. So you dont have to listen to longer loops till the end.

      Yes that was the tip! I should have actually said in the video that it was similar not the same. I kinda adapted it from that but thanks a lot!

    Nice video mate. Maybe this is helpfull: When you press "ROLL" when you're into the start/end screen it will play a small piece before your end marker. If you put "LOOP" on, you can easily hear if it is in time!

    Great idea, this should work for anything your sampling in. I've always tried to rush my finger up to the record button, which is kind of awkward and not always a great loop. 🙌🙏

    With the new update I believe this isn’t necessary anymore. And you can use Roll to play a part of the end so you don’t have to play the whole sample.

    Don’t forget to use “roll” for the end point of your loops which previews the loop just before it reaches its end point to catch the up beat kick/sound for bar 2 to chop before.

    Hi and thank you for your great channel! Here my 2 cents about looping:
    You don’t have to worry about the end point! Just nail the start point of your pad, and then trigger it at the first step of the pattern sequencer. Make the pattern as many bars as you want, no Gate and no Loop on the pad et voilà !
    It’s the best way to perfectly sync several loops I think : taking advantage of the pattern sequencer clock.
    Maybe not obvious for everyone, so I hope this is helpul. Cheers!

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  2 роки тому +1

      Thats a great idea, thanks for that!

    • @quentinbeguier2407

      I guess what could make things easier is to be able to set the lenght of a pad by bars. This would loop perfectly 2 bars for example.
      Without having to use a pattern. Or else to be able to launch different patterns at the same time. In a Ableton way, to launch clips in sync.

  • @nickdima9
    @nickdima9 2 роки тому +4

    I guess what you could do to make it easier for looping samples is having another pad with a kick (or anything else) that's in the same mute group as the samples. Probably best to use a sound that has a slow attack that way it's easier to identify in the waveform. You could even use a "silence sample" instead of the kick, probably even better.

    I still find that it is very difficult to cut clean loops that communicate with each other. I often have to go back to Abelton and prepare the loops there.Human sounding loops are ok but quantization in the sample area would be really appreciated. Anyway. Your channel is great!

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  2 роки тому +2

      You can do metronome now which can definitely help. Quantise would be very useful though!

      ye perfectly looping samples that keep in sync, was possible on the older 404s and useful in the 99bars/40bmp workflow. just had a petty tedious workaround. u had to first chop samples in the same length approximately, del + mark, then check that their bpm is the same (ex 88). then trim one of them perfectly and and see how many number steps on the end/start function are needed to go to 89 (each time you hit the end/start u get 30steps right 30 left but you only do just a few and keep count) now you know how many steps are needed to get from 88 to 89 in ur main loop. go trim the other one the same lenght in steps. i have done it many times and it works. i suppose it works because of the limited resolution it has. i hope i didnt confuse you heh. maybe you find how to transfer this trick on the mkii.

      this is my one and only complaint with this device so far! it’s so good at so many things but i find the lack of precision looping to be kind of a drag :/ i’m sure as i learn to work the 404 a bit better i may come up with some work around but for now it’s a bit of a bummer.

    The stopping after recording a loop is really hard to take, instead of … looping.
    This tut was a actually great and the sample flip is sick, it’s just the SP itself. I’ve just realised this limitation in the device and it’s really annoying. Stopping after recording loops is insane 😂

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Рік тому +1

      yeah thats the way it is with the SPs really. There's little things that make it tricky for putting beats together. I use mine as and FX unit now and make the rest of the beat in a DAW

      @@spvidz I see, I’m hoping to go dawless and I figure an SP would be a good device to loop drum breaks and a couple one-shots synced to my A4mk2 synth. The alternative is an Octatrack but I don’t see why the SP wouldn’t work for some dawless sample looping, would you recommend it for this?

  • @SFTbeats
    @SFTbeats 2 роки тому

    I’m gonna ask the question before finishing the video even tho it might be answered lol. I have a 4 bar drum loop which I have been trying to record onto a pattern but it never seems to record properly. In the pattern which I trigger the drum loop (which has loop active) once the pattern repeats itself the drum loop stop playing. And then comes back around when the pattern repeats. So strange. Wonder what’s going on?

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  2 роки тому +1

      That usually happens when the sample is slightly too long I think. I have the same happen when I try and run noise/texture underneath a beat. In the end I realised its just easier to have a pad on loop and then play the pattern over it. In terms of drums I'd suggest programming them in if you can instead. The sequencer can be a little temperamental

    My only problem with this device after 3 days is the mark functionality being different. I'm praying it gets an option change in an update like the sub pad has options. Am I missing something because nobody else seems to be hurt about this? I was just personally able to mark up loops way faster on the sx than using the wave viewer. And it feels like for longer loops I'm listening over and over where with mark it's like 2 tries maybe 3.
    Other than that this thing feels like a dream

    • @spvidz

      u can trigger the first 11 sounds of the selected bank by using a tr-8 buttons over midi.
      so it is possible for any midi device to send the right messages but likely limited

    how do you adjust the volume of samples on a pad? I find that my drums feel way too loud and I don't want to keep normalizing the sample to match it I'd rather bring the drums down a touch so everything isn't peaking once I bounce it into a DAW?

    Hey i'm new to this. Say my project is 93bpm and i sample a faster track. Do i need to figure out the bpm of that track before chopping it up ? Say i want to lower the pitch would that not also lower the bpm which would then make it out of sync ?

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  2 роки тому

      You can sync if you like or just make the chops work with the different time. It depends what genre you are sampling. You could also just match the drums to the tempo of the sample too....lots of options!
