after 13 years I am back, i went the the parra v storm gf as a 7 year old kid and was so guttered, eels about to play the panthers in the top 4 game, so excited as a true blue parra fan, hope this year is our year. its a shame the greats of the 09 era will never see the trophy but hopefully we can lift it this year.
Yeah Burtie goes good. I was at his first game first round 1998 in front of 100k ppl. He had a great game and knew he would be a star. He featured heavily in the highlight reel.
the pure footy skills of that whole team is just unbelievable, their quick passing in broken play and the fact that there was so many people backing up whenever there was a break
I'm watching this over now... we are in 2014 and it's still unbelievable. I wish this parramatta team could reunite and be this outstanding team again.
In this video Jarryd Hayne set up 15 out of 30 tries for Parra. That's one in every 2 set up tries just in this video. Absolute Vintage year for Jarryd Hayne.
I was overseas woking for many years and did not see many seasons and winners and losers but just viewing highlights for this year and amazed by Jarryd Hayne, an unbelievable footballer.Well done Parra.
I gotta say brilliant to parramatta and the fans...most amazing comeback I've ever seen...and I'm a warriors fan born and bred...I was cheering for Parramatta in the grand Final too...! Well, maybe this year (2010) if the warriors don't get there first.Although 6 weeks in and Parra don't seem to be firing properly yet...maybe saving it for a late run again..? X-D
our run last year was amazing :) everyone says it was luck but all us parra fans know it was pure skill and determination! parra are starting to do the same as they did last year :) lets hope they do and this time can get a win in the grand final!!! PARRA FOR LIFE :)
This was one of the best farytales in rugby league ever that I got a chance to watch!!! first team in rugby league history from 8th place to make it to the Grand final!! frikin awsome! The Hayne plane and Moi moi train!!! loved every second of every game the eels played! some of the best finals games I watched were the eels downed the Dragons,Tigers and Dogs! though we deserved the Grand final coz the Storm fuking got salary capped, it was one of the best farytale finishes ever! GO THE EELS!!!
Andrew Johns recently said that Newcastle's run this year was like Parramatta 2009 or 2005, the big difference is for the most part, Parramatta were destroying teams on their run to the grand final in 2009, Newcastle have had some tough gritty wins but they haven't been belting teams (except Canterbury) like Parramatta did.
There will never be another player to dominate a finals series like Jared Hayne did that year. To think it came down to another great fullback (Billy) in the GF to be awarded with a penalty for been held down, at a pivotal moment(again the eels were losing but were just starting to look the side they were throughout the pre-lims) man, had they won. Melbourne had a game plan that was if Hayne was to crab across the field(like he had been doing all through prelims) he was not to come back the opposite way. Damn i so wanted Luke Burt to go out a winner. Such a smooth operator.
jovaniohk ditori if Melbourne were knocked out before the top eight, the Tigers would have been in. And they were similar to the eels, they were horrifying at the start of the season, but came strong at the end, I think it would've been those two in the grand final. But I'm not sure who would have won.
No mate, doesn't work like that in team competitions. When people cheat in events like the 100 meter spring you can simply give the award to second place, because they were the best non-cheaters and therefore deserved winners. But in 2009, if the Storm had been pulled up earlier for cheating, Parramatta would still have had to face someone else in the Grand Final, and there's no guarantee that they'd beat them. It's not simply a case of giving the Premiership to the runners up.
Great vid....As a Dragons fan I was devo about the rematch loss, but I have to say the Eels played some of the best footy i have ever seen in the premiership when they were running hot...incredible, improvised support play with Hayne conducting and great belief in themselves....Their more structured approach in '11 doesn't seem to be working for them as it does for teams like saints and storm etc ..maybe each team has to find itsown way of winning rather than imitating others....
this was a great season for parra !!! probably one of the greatest runs to the g.f ever , after being near the bottom of the ladder near the end of the 26 rounds
Great year and although we went down in the GF we went down fighting and have nothing to be ashamed of. IMO opinion Moi Moi's try was one of the greatest and most passionate rugby league tries to date. Bring on 2010!
Great video mate, what a ride of a season, I hope all Parra players and supporters grow to hate the storm, lets get the rivalry going, with these bastards
I noticed that people say Jarryd Hayne almost single-handedly led Eels to grand final that year. Daniel Anderson moved him from five-eighth to centre and then FB, which was his preferred position. While Hayne played FB, he had skills of a five-eighth which added an X-Factor to the team. At the start of ‘09, they played too structured.
+Stuart Grandquist Your right probably will especially with our team losing pts because of all the salary cap drama, say that about maybe half way through the season this is if we are lucky.. we might make a comeback in about round 15-20 and then win all of those games and come back up the ladder and THEN we will hopefully finish between 5-8 positions on the table. So that means that we created the 2016 comebackers haha or i mean that we had a 2009 season but repeated it :)
2013 will be a re building phase under Stuart. 2014 is where I'm also interested and looking forward to. A lot of players in the NRL coming off contract. Big name players. Who all love working under Ricky at Origin level. Next year, Ricky will assess who he wants to keep and who he's letting go. Ken Sio will be there for years to come I would say. 2013, anything better than the wooden spoon is considered successful. 2014 is where people will be watching just how good they can be recruitment wise
we really need hayne to have a year like that again! Except Kearney wouldnt allow that kind of passing. theres 20 minutes till the season starts, so we'll have to wait and see! WOOOO!
Great run but unfortunate they ran into probably the only side that was capable of stopping them. Bellamy had a great game plan, he ran Blair and Hoffman at Robson and Mortimer all night.
I remember I went to a parra vs cronulla coach by sticky I am pretty shore Barrett was the 6 Daniel Mortimer made his debut in the centres we lost that game but it was a turning point
go the eels for 2010. we need a premiership for cayless hindmarsh. grothe and moi moi were the best players for the grand final. i love grothe but he stresses me at times.
nah my bad, I take it back aye mate. his running a muck for NSW. i'm a fan of him once again. his just playing for a very average team.. he pretty much is the eels this year.
@bluefen Totally agree with your comments on the Eels. We can't play structured football. Hayne doesnt need a script, he is a brilliant ad lib footballer and he plays instinctive football. As a fan I am totally disappointed with the way we are playing. It seems our halves are afraid to take on the line, their kicking game lacks imagination just a regulation bomb every 5th tackle. The eels must go back to the formula of offloading wherever possible or else they will be wooden spooners
@dodotheoneandtheonly It did seem like one person was beating entire teams but as soon as teams figured out how to shut Jarryd Hayne down they were completely useless in attack. That's why teams are always evolving otherwise they end up how Eels are now.
Hayne played as well as he did here this year, the team around him just wasn't good enough. It shows that guys like Hayne and Thurston need more than themselves to win a premiership. The cowboys are surging though with the team as a whole getting better, Thurston is just as good as he always has been, showing it really is a team sport
its funny ive watched this heaps but Its ahrd to see what My beloved eels did special it seems they got the rub of the green they ran hard and wanted to win more than opponents simple but oh so good to witness
My God... Jarryd Hayne was incredible. Great support play through the middle for almost every try too
MAN UTD ok and?
@M get a life I see u in comments all time
after 13 years I am back, i went the the parra v storm gf as a 7 year old kid and was so guttered, eels about to play the panthers in the top 4 game, so excited as a true blue parra fan, hope this year is our year. its a shame the greats of the 09 era will never see the trophy but hopefully we can lift it this year.
I'll be watching this in 2040 and say the same thing. This video will NEVER get old.
In 2040, that'll be 54 years without a Premiership😅
People forget or underestimate how good Luke Burt was.
they didnt even make a peep or whisper when he retired :( every play, every corner he had it covered, but nope...
Luke's the man
Yeah Burtie goes good. I was at his first game first round 1998 in front of 100k ppl. He had a great game and knew he would be a star. He featured heavily in the highlight reel.
@J. AlWhy u watchn Rugby League brah? Lol
MANCHESTER UNITED shut up why u watching this anyway
luke burt was my fav player next to hayne, there combo was great
11 years later and this video is still a huge gee up
the pure footy skills of that whole team is just unbelievable, their quick passing in broken play and the fact that there was so many people backing up whenever there was a break
I'm watching this over now... we are in 2014 and it's still unbelievable.
I wish this parramatta team could reunite and be this outstanding team again.
they are goin good this year
I know I’m 19 years late but go parra
One of the greatest and most entertaining teams ever
what about the first 18 rounds of that season? get your hand off it
In this video Jarryd Hayne set up 15 out of 30 tries for Parra. That's one in every 2 set up tries just in this video. Absolute Vintage year for Jarryd Hayne.
brings tears to my eyes. What a ride. Go you Eels in 2010.
I was overseas woking for many years and did not see many seasons and winners and losers but just viewing highlights for this year and amazed by Jarryd Hayne, an unbelievable footballer.Well done Parra.
He's murdered our FOOTY hasnt he.....
repeated song makes you feel like you're going insane
Should have been our year for the premiership. Great video
this is the video that i watch to get myself pumped for the next game i'm going to (tonight)
our run last year was amazing :) everyone says it was luck but all us parra fans know it was pure skill and determination! parra are starting to do the same as they did last year :) lets hope they do and this time can get a win in the grand final!!! PARRA FOR LIFE :)
Even in 2022, Grand Finalist..we are Parra for Life!
madd video! next season WILL be our year, its a shame kingstons gone but we'll b good. GO THE MIGHTY EELS!!
What a season it was to remember. From round 18 being in 14th place - then to make the finals 🔥🔥🔥
What a year, Great video thanks for the upload !!!
Great video and soundtrack, really gets you into the spirit. GO EELS!
This was one of the best farytales in rugby league ever that I got a chance to watch!!! first team in rugby league history from 8th place to make it to the Grand final!! frikin awsome! best video ever
This is my labourite video on UA-cam for some reason GO PARRA
I can't stop watching this its the Best

Eels were premiers that year as far as I am and anyone else should be concerned. Storms were cheats.
jovaniohk ditori if Melbourne were knocked out before the top eight, the Tigers would have been in. And they were similar to the eels, they were horrifying at the start of the season, but came strong at the end, I think it would've been those two in the grand final. Except.... Melbourne...
This was the best season ever. I cant remember a season where there were so many good matches.
Great video we’re contenders next year boys
Great video.

Great video mate.
Great Video Man!
Daneel loves ya work Benoir!
The support play and offloads were amazing. They really need to go back to that style of play.
Great video, mate!
im a massive parra supporter round 8 four and four go parra show them that magic u showed last year
Hoping the Eels are like this next year. especially with Barba, Tonga and Roberts in the side. Should be epic.
here we are again
13yr drought to face the prelims in enemy territory.
lets go parra
Great video mate, what a ride of a season, I hope all Parra players and supporters grow to hate the storm, lets get the rivalry going, with these bastards
Titles wrong Jarryd Hayne Highlights 2009*
Hayne and his red boots..played the best ive ever seen
Sick video man, cant wait for next season.
Also to see hayne and moimoi in state of origin. GO BLUES! GO PARRA!
pittchaser wow this comment was 10 years ago... this makes me feel so old. Hopefully 2020 is our year we doing good so far
I noticed that people say Jarryd Hayne almost single-handedly led Eels to grand final that year. Daniel Anderson moved him from five-eighth to centre and then FB, which was his preferred position. this is a great video :D go the eels :D
2015 will be the year of eels!
Swaneels ya reckon? ;)
so trueeeeeee if we had those players i reckon parra would be in the top 8
we are in pretty much the same position in 2011 so lets hope we can pull this off again
what a pass at 2:53.
Jarryd Hayne and FuiFuiii were in great formm.
well done!
What a season they had go parra😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
We parra fans must have faith. It can be done, this video is proof
Watching this to remind myself the Eels aren't always terrible, although 2012 has been a struggle... I hold high hopes for 2014 :)
Nice video, might happen again in 2016!!
So that means that we created the 2016 comebackers haha or i mean that we had a 2009 season but repeated it :)
i wish they could still play like this :(
Unstructured footy. How entertaining it is to watch and how hard it is to defend against
2013 will be a re building phase under Stuart. 2014 is where I'm also interested and looking forward to. A lot of players in the NRL coming off contract. Big name players. I have a feel our mighty eels may be coming back from a rocky start!! 2010 eels cmon boys!
we really need hayne to have a year like that again! Except Kearney wouldnt allow that kind of passing. theres 20 minutes till the season starts, so we'll have to wait and see! WOOOO!
@MrManawa Next year they might do well with Stephen Kearney under the helm,
He was the 2010 Four Nations Winners Coach.
why did jarryd hayne hav to get really buff for
So tell me, how did that 2010 season go for you guys?
2010 favourites. Nek minnit
The amount of times I watched this shit as a kid 😂😂 what a video
3:08 the most underrated try..
GO PARRA!!!!!!!!!!
Luke Burt is an unsung hero! the boy is always there! CHAMPION UP PARRA!!!
who is that guy with the red boots?
+Tez dennis Jarryd Hayne!!!
Great run but unfortunate they ran into probably the only side that was capable of stopping them.
Bellamy had a great game plan, he ran Blair and Hoffman at Robson and Mortimer all night.
pittchaser moi moi wont be aloud to play state of origin. well i dont think so because he is tonga and plays for new zealand ...
I remember I went to a parra vs cronulla coach by sticky I am pretty shore Barrett was the 6 Daniel Mortimer made his debut in the centres we lost that game but it was a turning point
its funny how people say eels are a one man team, it was actually like a 6 man team with hayne, moi moi, burt, mateo, hindmarsh and MAYBE inu.
go the eels for 2010. we need a premiership for cayless hindmarsh. grothe and moi moi were the best players for the grand final. i love grothe but he stresses me at times.
@YourSoIame was it taulima tautai?
found the song name Tom Snare - Straight Dancing (Raggae mix)
Go parramatta
bloody hell, when they wanna entertain they are brilliant.
hayne was untouchable in 09
yeah i agree
Why did they have a rematch with dragons on round 26?.
They got smashed by dragons in round 26, but since parra made the top 8, they versed the dragons in an elimination final (1st vs 8th) "the rematch"
Genesis what was the score in round 26
nah my bad, I take it back aye mate. his running a muck for NSW. i'm a fan of him once again. his just playing for a very average team.. he pretty much is the eels this year.

awesome video go parramatta jarryd hayne will bring it home with fui fui moi moi and hindmarsh
now she does
Go the eels
Yes, I was very shocked when I saw that.
Eels 2009- Fairytale Run
Eels 2013- Fairy's.
Hayne played as well as he did here this year, the team around him just wasn't good enough. It shows that guys like Hayne and Thurston need more than themselves to win a premiership. The cowboys are surging though with the team as a whole getting better, Thurston is just as good as he always has been, showing it really is a team sport
its funny ive watched this heaps
but Its ahrd to see what My beloved eels did special
it seems they got the rub of the green
they ran hard
and wanted to win more than opponents
simple
but oh so good to witness
go parra in 2014 good year for parra 2009
thx go parra
Eels + confidence = force to be reckoned with
Eels + no confidence = wooden spooners
What's the name of the song
