- I find Muse bass lines have a mechanical quality to them. I'm not an expert in the band but it feels like they were written on a keyboard rather than a string instrument.
There's also not a lot of space to catch your breath, it's busy end to end.
I used to play this one in drop D but I've reworked it to be closer to the original. The Zero Mod thumb rest provided the ideal anchor position for it, and the low action thanks to the Babicz FCH Rickenbacker bridge was again very much appreciated.
Right Channel, setup to provide deep but clean low end:
Muse - Uprising backing track
Neck pickup via Trace Elliot Transit-B preamp with EQ, compressor and Preshape
Left Channel, setup with distorted tone:
Bridge pickup in vintage mode via Darkglass B7Ku

THIS!!!!!!!
Great song isn't it?
freakin awesome as ussual !!!
Thanks so much Maarte!
Superb!!! What a groove and a really steady bassline. I LOVE this. The groove sometimes reminds me a little of Blondie's Call me, such great melody and opportunity for fortuitous basslines!
They clearly took the high notes at the end of the chorus from the Blondie song ;)
Thanks a mil. I had no idea about the Blondie connection. Seems I you are right though
@@ImYourOverlordInteresting. I guess everyone has influences
@@NXPBass I love it when such things happen in unexpected places. As old as I am, I'm much more familiar with Blondie (and with a little of Debbie's solo work), so when I first heard the Muse song, I recognized the sound there, but it took a little thinking to identify it. If you listen to "Call Me," you can't unhear it when you listen to "Uprising" :)
@@ImYourOverlord I know exactly what you mean. One clear example for me was Greenday borrowing from Mötley's relatively unknown song On With The Show
Very fine bass playing.
Thanks so much Robert!
Nice bass!it looks so great!
Thanks Jack, yes that's a really lovely thing. Great feel with the satin finish on the back if the neck
Good job, and I like your Ric!
Thanks Pete, yes I love this bass. Top 2 most of the time
