  • In this episode, I find a great gray owl in the woods (after a dry spell of 6 weeks) and make some really great photos! (at least I think they're pretty great, maybe you will too)

New to your channel ... I could relate to your feelings when you were heading back to your car with no sightings of an owl... but you reminded me of myself in a way...its almost like intuitively you knew something was going to appear. At that point you were so close to your car but still looking knowing something would appear. Total game changer for the day. Love your channel and photography

Love the excitement of the owl sighting. It's true you see them when you least expect it often times. I was driving home from a shoot and it was darn near dark I spotted a Great Horned Owl in a tree. Good thing I was the only one on the road. I got turned around and off the road to capture some mediocre shots but the fact I spotted it so close to home was cool. Keep up the great videos.

Congrats, great fun. I love my 300mm f/4L IS but am almost always in tight thick forest and can't drive anymore. I need to bus around and find some thinned out areas without humans all over the place. I went with the cleaner 80D over the faster AF 7D II. Going to try and swing a 70-200 2.8 in next couple months. I like the idea of your 100-400 Sigma but with APSC light gathering I think I need 2.8 to improve over my 55-250 5.6 STM. If I swing the 70-200 I'll endeavor to shift medicine regimen so I can get out early.

Steve - enjoy your owl efforts so much. This bird intrigues me. I live in Northern MN. Your videos motivate me to get out and look for owls. I currently use a D7200 with a 70-300mm VR (FX) version. I like the attributes of that 300mm F4 PF. Usually a budget oriented guy...but what the hell - at 64...time to go for it. Looking forward to some Owl opportunities. I follow you, Steve Perry and Mark Smith- learn so much from you guys.
Appreciate the time/effort you/they put into making these. Thank you 👍

You mentioned the spot where the bighorn sheep are. Do you just know from driving around previous days or do you have other ways of finding wildlife spots?
