I found the first two episodes of Fiona and Cake to be pretty interesting I mean they certainly got the show off to a good start so far. I like how, even after 13 years, this franchise is still going strong and still being just as crazy as when it started.
Now to be fair to what I’m about to say I haven’t seen Fiona and Cake but from watching the video and seeing the clips I gotta say it’s very surreal for someone who grew up watching Adventure Time. Maybe it’s because I’m a 21 year old about to finish college and get his degree now but something about what I’ve seen and heard from the show and Jay just hits me in a way that is hard to understand and makes my brain trip up.
And I’m sure that’s the point, no show grows with its audience better then Adventure Time and now Fionna And Cake are now targeted towards that same audience of the adults who had AT in their childhood.
I grew up on adventure time. I cried when i ended, shows don't usually make me tear up, but the end of adventure time made me realize that my childhood was over, so i cried for freinds and family I'd lost in that time, when distant lands came out i was a bit older and understood more how my childhood was fun, but that growing up isn't bad either, and now with fionna and cake, I'm a full grown man of 20, with a boyfriend and my own apartment, and i really relate to fionna, feeling trapped in my crummy little apartment, and simon too, wanting to go back to simpler times, and by the end, i think in going to be even older, and learn even more about how much life is a gift, and every experience shapes a wonderful tapestry of stories and memories to cherish forever
Totally agree with you on fiona but you dont have to forget that she just get dumped by dj flamme : at this time Finn who suffers the same thing grow a lot of after this event^^. Fionna is like Finn but older but dont have live (yet) the same trauma . Fionna seem more like prisoner in the "order world) and want freedom ( by chaos). Simon live in chaos ( crazy land of oo) and want order (the past and Betty)
Also fun fact: this show is an adulr animated spinoff, similar to Velma, but far better written overall. It is clear this show is the anti velma I have been waiting for.
I really enjoyed this analysis of Fionna & Cake. Viewing from the lens of chaos and order, and seeing how the show conveys how both of these are present in the lives of Fionna and Simon is a refreshing way to view these episodes. Viewing this way further emphasizes the parallels between Fionna and Simon, which is cool to think about.
I loved these episodes. As someone who grew up with Adventure Time, it really was fun to see them expand on it. Seeing adult Finn got me a tad emotional.
I feel like the detail of simon being up before his alarm staring at the ceiling more so felt like him not being able to sleep at all either his thoughts wondering and keeping him up or the stress from everything hes been going through lately rather than him just waking up on time but that could just by my interpretation of things
Honestly, I never knew this show was a thing till this video came out. I loved adventure time when I was younger so I’ll definitely have to look into this, I’m glad to know about it.
It's also interesting to look at both Simon and Fionna's situations. They are both in each other's world views, Fionna wants to live in an adventurous life style where everything is magic and dangerous, while Simon wants to live in a world where order is in play and nothing is crazy. Simon is basically a lion in a different pride.
tbh i can see gary as a follower of order which was dissapointed by it he thought that he can make whatever his heart desire using order yet only found vile restrictions and refusal to give in to a new idea
I just watched it me of your videos until I got this on my notification! I might check this show out sometime! (Maybe before mr David gets rid of it!) (Edit) I just watched one of your videos!
Since he's from the 20th century that means the mushroom war happened before the 2000s and Simon is smart he would accurately call 1900s the 20th century The war probably happened sometime in mid 90s The last cheer episode air in 1993 so the war might have happened just a little after that time fresh for Simon to know it but old enough for Marcy not to know about it since it wasn't in age group. though it could be possible the war happened before 1993 so the show never finished. So really the mushroom war would have happened between 1982 to 1999, though I think 1982 would be too early and 1999 to late so I think late 80s or early 90s to mid 90s
***SPOILER** if you haven't seen all 2 episodes haha, but my intuition is great.. anyways, since Cake jumped through the portal, simone's going to put the translator collar on her, he basically stole from that dog lol, and we're going to hear Cake for the "first time"
After being rescued by the military, many years later after humanity had built itself from the ground up again, Ellis got a debut in an animated series
fionnas life is too boring she wants for more things to change and happen things may be calm but this stability is pretty much hollow simon saw horror he saw how much things change to worse he wants to have some time for himself no danger no risk no struggles just normalcy he wants to go back to when the times were simpler yet they werent he like how things are calm now but still wants to go back because the most dear memories to him were created in chaos
Yknow, i watched your videos on Regular Show a few years back... and earlier today i thought "hey, i wonder what that jay guy with the cute panda avatar is doing" and i just ended up watching four hours of your stuff... last time, it was only two. Lol! Your stuff is great
When I was younger, around when I was in 8th Grade, I completely stopped watching Steven Universe. I didn't know what beliefs were trying to be included, nor could I fully understand what did those mean since I was in 8th Grade. But I completely stopped watching Steven Universe because of the song where Steven sings about Amethyst and Pearl turning into a giant woman because Steven both desired to see it and thought it would repair their bad relationship that started at the beginning of the episode. It creeped me out so much that not only did I think I was too old to watch Cartoon Network, but also it convinced me to completely and abruptly stop watching Cartoon Network. Good thing too, I never got to watch the end of the good series of Adventure Time, and I'm glad I never have.
