In scrubbing the floor, use a *“deck brush”.* It looks like a handheld scrub brush that you get down on your hands and knees with on the floor. However it has a mop/broom handle attached to it. They sell the head at the Dollar Tree store, or hardware stores sell complete deck brush “brooms”. It's for scrubbing outside decks, but it works great on tile floors, and grout. The stiff short bristles do an amazing job, and you get to stand up to scrub. Good for bad backs. Hope this helps. Take care, stay safe, have a nice day. 👵☮️🖖
HELPFUL HINT: My husband owns a carpet and upholstery cleaning business. Whenever using Peroxide for cleaning, mix it 1/2 HOT water and 1/2 Peroxide. The hot water activates the peroxide. It makes a huge difference in spot cleaning or overall cleaning. I use it on my tile in bathrooms with white grout. Mix Peroxide/Hot Water and pour around the floor, add a few drops of Dawn around as well. Sprinkle some baking soda if you want, but not needed. Srub it in, I use a scrub brush on the end of a mop handle so I do not have to bend/stoop/crawl. After scrubbing, leave it for 30 to 45 minutes and then just mop it up, takes a couple of mopping rounds. Dry it up with an old towel. As it dries, the grout continues to whiten over days, but you can see an immediate result.
First, let me say that I love your videos. I have been doing my laundry in cold water for 50 years even my whites now that we have Oxy Clean and I found my clothes last longer and fade less. Hot water damages the fibers and sets stains. I soak in Oxyclean for up to 3 days in cold water to get stains out I use a degreaser on oil and grease, if 3 days can't get the stain it will never come out not even in hot water. I do use bleach but rarely. I have a septic tank and bleach kills the enzymes needed for a septic system to work properly. Just a tidbit from an old granny. I just had my 76th birthday and I was a professional Cleaning service and caregiver for 10 years right before I retired. I am also disabled now from a car accident so your hacks have helped me a lot. Hugs.
Hi Andrea, I do use baking soda, the laundry and shower floor and when my Pitbull has an accident will leave it on the stain then vacuum it up for no odors!! Borax use it in the laundry. I will try it in the spray bottle. My Grandma was my mentor on cleaning. She cleaned ppls homes. She was a good person ❤ ❤❤ Joan 😊
I use Meleauca laundry detergent and it's amazing! 12x concentrated so it lasts for awhile. Most detergents bought at the store are about 90% water. Not to mention all the chemicals. The detergent I use is plant based and keavea no residue or skin irritant.
The cheese grater miracle. I also liked the detergent being in the detergent compartment n not in the wash for the individually packed detergents. Thank you
Omg!!! Ugh!!! I did the suggested way too! I was sooo pissed off!! The mess was absolutly impossible to remove! Its been a few months since and even through many moppings, there is still baking soda residue! NEVER USE!! I am happy however, to have found you! I appreciate your honesty and reliability more than you will ever know...thank you!😉👍♥️
I used the Clorax Pen for grout. Much more control and works for me. Clorax discontinued them, but others make a similar product. Love Zout. Had grease on a shirt, it went thru laundry and drying and I thought it was ruined. I used Zout and it took the stain out even though it had been dried in.
Hello! I know not everyone has one, but I noticed you do, I use my little steam shot machine to clean my grout. That works the best for me and no chemicals! It is about $40-50 but can be used on so many surfaces to clean without the chemicals and smell. Love your videos and your personality!!
Andrea Jean, I don't even use the cup or pouring spout. I just use the dispenser end by tilting it forward and dispensing the laundry detergent directly into the drawer of my washing machine. No mess at all!
Bathroom cleaner for toilet, grout, and shower curtain: fill a spray bottle 3/4 full with water, 1/4 C of bleach, and 1/4 C of dish detergent (this goes in last so it doesn't create suds). Spray down the bathroom, close the door, go to bed, and when you get up the bathroom is clean with minimal effort.
I had a repairman tell me that using more than one pod makes no difference. I put the pod in the drum before the clothes. Never had a problem with one not dissolving. Thanks for the tips! ❤
The best grout cleaner is a steam cleaner. Using the precision attachment (like you used for washing machine tray) makes it really easy to aim at the grout, and then you just wipe away the dirt without any scrubbing needed.
Hi Andrea Jean, I love the idea of using the toothbrush on the cheese grater, but I have one more suggestion. Instead of rinsing it in warm water, first rinse it in cold water, then in warm water (or you could even do this before you use the toothbrush to make it easier to clean at the start). Warm or hot water will cause the cheese to kind of "cook" onto the grater, and if you've missed any little pieces, they'll be even harder to get off later. I always clean off any dishes from a cheesy dinner with cold water and a scrubbie so that the hot water in the dishwasher won't "cook" the cheese (or rice) onto the dishes, so same concept! P.S. I asked for a Bissell Little Green Clean Machine for Christmas!
I have a dedicated towel that I roll up and stick into the gasket in my front loader that I leave in there until the dryer finishes and then I unroll it and hang it up to air dry and I never have any mildew or mold in my washing machine.
409 works. I bought a Narrow stiff broom Spray on the 409 let it sit a few minutes, scrub Broom came from Temu. Love that think. No bending or kneeling.
Try using vinegar as a fabric softener! I’ve used it for years.. doesn’t smell and also helps clean.. my repair guy also told me people usually use way more soap then you need . I use a tablespoon for a Reg load of laundry and it also doesn’t break down the fabric that using too much soap will do to your cloths
The wax hack brought back memories to when I was a Sunday School teacher in the eighties and someone had the bright idea to let the children use real candles at Christmas. It took us hours to clean the church chairs and carpets but it did work.
Home Depot sells a special grout brush on a stick that works wonderfully because it's thin and the bristles are very stiff. I use toilet bowl cleaner for my grout...works great for me.
I leave my tide on it’s side on top of the washing machine with the spout down then just slide it forward over the detergent drawer and press the release button. I keep a piece of dollar tree drawer liner under the bottle so if it drips after you slide it back it’s easy clean up. Essentially i never have to lift the bottle.
My favorite way to clean my grout is with dawn power wash. I let is set for a while then use a grout brush from grove. Sometimes need to respray stubborn areas and repeat. I then use my spin wash mop, but this takes awhile to get up because of all the bubbles, but is so worth it!
I wish I had one of those Tinco machines! My floors are either wood or tile and that thing looks amazing! Since you have a steam machine have you tried that on your grout? I have grout sealer I dream of putting on my grout lines AFTER I get them clean. Thank you for testing out these popular "hacks". Here is one of ours: Buy 4 or 5 of the smaller more manageable bottles of your favorite laundry detergent and one of the larger massive sized bottles. As you work through the small ones you can refill them from the massive one. If not you than someone who can wrangle it for you. We did this for an elderly family member. Now she can reach, grab and pour the bottle she can handle AND economize by using the large economy sized bottle for refills. Bonus: she needs her smaller bottles refilled periodically so having 4-5 of them means this task gets done only a few times a year. It keeps her more independent and spending less money on laundry detergent, too. I can see something similar helping out kiddos who do laundry with liquid detergent, too. Or just anyone who has issues with lifting heavy items.
Dollar Tree has a very strong Denture cleaning Brush, with nice sturdy Bristles for just a $1.25 . It's a great Tool for cleaning Grout-stains and hard to reach Corner Spaces, like around a Faucet. You can also use it to brush of tiny Pebbles which sometimes get stuck on the edges of your Cars carpet. Removing Dirt stuck on the sides of Combat Boots is very easy with this Odd looking Denture Brush.😀
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I washed my car today using the broom idea from one of your previous videos. It took less than half the time it usually does and my car is so much cleaner than my old method! Not to mention that my back wasn't in pain like it usually is afterwards Washing the car was always a dreaded task but not any more thanks to you x
Have you tried the blue dawn hack to whiten whites? You do need to spray stains, I use shout. Then put the items in the washer. Put 2 tablespoons of blue dawn on a rag and toss in the washer. Wash on hot water setting. NO EXTRA DETERGENT. They come out bright white!
Oh my, I used to use all different kind of products to clean my floors, now I just use Dawn in a bucket , a long handle grout brush., then my O'Cedar Spin Mop.
I am a truck driver. I used the pods thinking easy and won't spill. I used them in the washer at the truck stop. It ruined my blanket. It has a hard spot on it where it should of melted from the water.
I use a mixture of 1 and 1/2 tbs of Borax, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 and 1/2 cups of very warm water. Mix everything, then place on cotton balls where you see ants. Works great!
A drop or two of dish soap in up to a quart of peroxide with 1/4 cup +/- of baking soda works well. The soap helps keep tge baking soda in solution longer, and it works with the soap to losen dirt and any oil based grunge. Water is the universal solvent, and baking soda makes water wet-er. 😉
I love using my Bissell Steam Shot for cleaning tile grout. It takes a while to do the whole floor, because a full tank only lasts for about 10 minutes of cleaning before you have to let it cool off, refill and then let it get up to full heat, but you can cover a lot of territory in those 10 minutes. I use the Dollar Tree's Awesome cleaner to spray the grout lines first, let that sit while the steamer is heating up, steam the lines and then mop up with a big towel. Far better than any chemicals that I've tried, and no scrubbing required. The steam does the work.
Thanks Andrea,Loved all your Hacks again, especially the floor! Yes that baking soda leaves such a mess! Ad always you are great ! I really love the organization hacks! that's where I have a problem! I'm working on that though! I'm getting rid of a lot of stuff. Could you one day do a video on getting ready for a garage sale? would really love that. Thanks so much! God bless you and your Family!🥰😇💞🙏🙏🙏
I just used hydrogen peroxide 3% on my almond colored grout lines in my kitchen. I sprayed it on and let it sit for 10 minutes, then used an old toothbrush on it and it really brightened up my kitchen!!! As I was cleaning the grout lines next to the refrigerator I realized it had been a longgggg time since I pulled the refrigerator out and cleaned under it. So that was my next projects for my Sunday evening. But it was worth the effort🙂 16:5510:23
I love your UA-cam videos you are a do-it-yourself cleaning genius. I love your upbeat personality and I think you are just as adorable as can be.Thank you for all of your cleaning and organization tips
I've never tried baking soda or peroxide. I use "Comet spray" (or the powder comet) 《---it works the same, but let it sit for 3-5mins and scrub a little, Wipe it up. It has always done a wonderful job!
For scratched or dinged wood, try Howard's feed and wax...it's fabulous, it also works great to keep your kitchen cabinets like new... Nice job, Andrea Jean..I just love to watch you...also the navy blue jackets manual has a ton of organizing ideas
Why did I get happy when you bent that toothbrush THEN got even happier when you whipped out the steam cleaner!! Am steaming my trashcan while watching😂
I use baking soda and vinegar. I use a grout brush to scrub the grout and let it sit for at least 45 minutes. I've tried the method you used and it doesn't even compare! Lysol w bleach is best of all but too many fumes!
Thank you for this informative video. I would like to know what rug you use inside your front door that can cope with water and snow. I have a very small entrance and would be interested in how you set up yours with the stool, etc.
@@angelapursley2811FYI it comes in a pack of 3 usually in the automotive section. The other 2 are brass(rusts too easy) and plastic bristles. Only one that works great is the stainless steel. I tried ones from Temu...they are flimsy.
Hydrogen Peroxide is the winner for me when cleaning tile and grout. Had the same issue when I tried baking soda on grout. At least I got some exercise when cleaning the baking soda out of the grout. 😯😊
great tips, I really like the cheese grater idea. I do not have grout in my house so I was kind of zoning out and your calm soft voice put me to sleep! lol but I woke up for the rest of the video
Have been using toothbrush for dishes for years mostly for items like the grater. I get a pack of 4 or more at Dollar Tree or any other store that might have then for a cheap price and keep them for kitchen use only. If I need for other areas in the house I buy another set with different colors. For the grout someone here on UA-cam mentioned the Clorox toilet bowl Gel Cleaner and it did work for me also for shower stains.😊😊
Ok guys don't like either to clean grout lines, but I do use at all my rental properties purple degreaser. Find it at any auto store, Walmart or other places. Now you need to use it 50/50 water degreaser. See if you don't think this is easier than either of these two.
Purple power is the name. And for really tuff grout straight up use with no water is ok and scrub. It will make it like new to reseal it again between renters
I no longer put anything on my grout! I’m too tired of constantly cleaning the mess up afterwards. Plus I 4 babies 🐶🐶🐩🐩! My husband bought me the BISSELL Power Steamer Heavy Duty 3-in-1 Steam Mop and Handheld SteamShot and that’s all I use!! It has so many heads on it that work beautifully! By far the upmost BEST thing I’ve ever used for my grout! I absolutely hate grout lines!! Love tile floors but not the grout lines!!
I take my washing machine drawer out after every wash and let it sit upside down wipe my door and the elastic wipe where the drawer was then when its dry i put it back . 30 seconds it takes and everything is spotless
I love handwash dishes. It feels therapeutic and i know I'm doing a better job than the dishwasher. I just don't like putting them away😅. I mostly use the dishwasher to store pots and lids.
I stopped using Pledge a long time ago cuz it left a waxy feel. I only use the Old English oil now that comes in a spray bottle and I find it works much better even on particle board wood.
Happy Saturday gorgeous lady ❤ brilliant hack on the candle wax 😊 omg I have to do that to my machine 😅 my daughter gave me that steamer I never open it 😊 I hate the rubber flap 😅 oh wow with the pod 😅 you are a genius lady thank you so much have a wonderful weekend ❤🦋🌈🍁

Bending back the toothbrush is also a good way of differentiating it from the toothbrushes you still use for your teeth.
Hmmm, never thought of that. I just usually keep them in different places to avoid that.
Can't be too careful.
Bisell steam shot is awesome for cleaning grout, there’s even an attachment for it. Forget the chemicals and other messy stuff.
Great idea about meltng/ bending a toothbrush to the best shape to clean

Another use for Borax: mix with honey and leave as ant and bug bait. It's cheap and long lasting, and VERY effective (and safe for pets).
Great tip!
Do you mix the two ingredients together?
I use a mixture of 1 and 1/2 tbs of Borax, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 and 1/2 cups of very warm water. Mix everything, then place on cotton balls where you see ants. Works great!

Use the green machine to clean the baking soda out if your grout.
If you lay your box grader down, it’s easier to go back and forth and up and down. I was in my 70s when I learned this trick.
❤️❤️❤️
Homemade Dawn power wash? How did you make that?
Thanks for another great video. I totally forgot about lemon oil & Old English! They both work great. ❤
Thank you for this informative video. I would like to know what rug you use inside your front door that can cope with water and snow. I have a very small entrance and would be interested in how you set up yours with the stool, etc.
I got mine at Target 👍
I only use peroxide NOT baking soda since it is just another mess to clean!!
Me too...I use a stainless steel toothbrush that I get at Dollar Tree and it only takes 2 or 3 passes on the grout then wipe.
@@energyrep777 I will have to look for the toothbrush next time I go!! Thanks!!
@@angelapursley2811FYI it comes in a pack of 3 usually in the automotive section. The other 2 are brass(rusts too easy) and plastic bristles. Only one that works great is the stainless steel. I tried ones from Temu...they are flimsy.
I’ve heard to spray a LIGHT coat of Pam (or other non-stick spray). I’ve not tried it but thought I would share.
Hydrogen Peroxide is the winner for me when cleaning tile and grout. Had the same issue when I tried baking soda on grout. At least I got some exercise when cleaning the baking soda out of the grout. 😯😊
Great hacks. Thank you for all you do.
Glad you like them!
Can't wait for more great tips. 😊 Thanks ❤
More to come!
Thank you! Love from my family here in the UK to yours
You are so kind ❤️
great tips, I really like the cheese grater idea. I do not have grout in my house so I was kind of zoning out and your calm soft voice put me to sleep! lol but I woke up for the rest of the video
Glad it was helpful! Lol 😂
Toothpaste works great on grout with a toothbrush to scrub on your hands and knees. Mop up when done.
Thanks for the tip!
Genius ??? !!!! NO No No......Its Andrea Jean-ius LOL Love you girl
Awe love you 😘
Ok guys don't like either to clean grout lines, but I do use at all my rental properties purple degreaser.
❤️❤️❤️
I take my washing machine drawer out after every wash and let it sit upside down wipe my door and the elastic wipe where the drawer was then when its dry i put it back . 30 seconds it takes and everything is spotless
I love handwash dishes. It feels therapeutic and i know I'm doing a better job than the dishwasher. I just don't like putting them away😅. I mostly use the dishwasher to store pots and lids.
The only thing is, I heard the seals dry out if you don't use the dishwasher.
I stopped using Pledge a long time ago cuz it left a waxy feel. I only use the Old English oil now that comes in a spray bottle and I find it works much better even on particle board wood.
I love all your hacks! They are so good 💕
❤️❤️❤️
Happy Saturday gorgeous lady ❤ brilliant hack on the candle wax 😊 omg I have to do that to my machine 😅 my daughter gave me that steamer I never open it 😊 I hate the rubber flap 😅 oh wow with the pod 😅 you are a genius lady thank you so much have a wonderful weekend ❤🦋🌈🍁

What's the best cleaner to use on apartment painted steel/metal doors?
Magic eraser, warm water and dishsoap 👍
How can I clean the grout on marble tiles?
