I don't use facebook or twitter, so I don't know where else to say this: I was at your event in Göteborg yesterday and it was awesome. Almost couldn't sleep because my head was spinning so hard with all the stuff to think about after your talk. Next time I hope I can afford one of the meet and greet tickets.

With Covid, the government has butted so incredibly much in our lives that it's hard to remain apolitical, wouldn't you agree?
Besides if Dr Peterson finds his values align more with conservatives, how does that make him a fraud? Does this alignment in any way disprove or undermine his work? No. And my goodness, if a clinical psychologist doesn't provided criticism of the mechanics of society then who will ???

Has no woman ever been able to encapsulated the parental fortitude of man? Has no woman ever been able to instill decent values and raise a productive member of society?

I am a conservative baby-boomer. My time has past. My opinions are for the most part reviled by the current generations. It is time for me to bow out of the discourse and watch the world become whatever it becomes. I never had privilege that I could recognize. I had a damn hard life when I was young. I worked in factories where people passed out from heat. I worked on farms and ranches picking produce, bucking hay, hauling bloated dead calves to a pit. I worked construction in brutal summer heat. I worked unblocking sewer pipes and toilets. Because I was not educated I did a million terrible things to get by. I eventually put myself through community college and have worked IT jobs ever since. I found a way out, but it took a lot of hard work.
Now I wonder what did all that accomplish? Was I able to gain some wisdom to pass along? Not really, because no one wants to hear what I have to say. I did some good for others along the way by providing, so there is that I suppose. But in the end I am just another sad old man who never hears a single word of encouragement. I am here just running out the clock. Eternity awaits.

I think the basis for the concept of denigration of social institutions rests on two things. First I think there is a common fallacy that older practices or institutions have less value with time. The next is that we could do any better than those before us and that we are just somehow smarter and wiser than they were, and yet history continues to repeat itself anyway.
Another thought is around innovation. Innovation is great and we need it but it doesn't necessarily require the complete destruction of predecessors. You could build onto those concept. I do think there is some level of selfishness where some want their mark in history as creating a new thing and being a pioneer.

Hi Dr Peterson. Ive been trying to understand the 'thinking' of the 'younger' generation ie. Wokeism.
Im at a ripe age of 51 and lived in South Africa my whole life, (just to give a backround of my perspective)
Growing up as a kid and a (80s) teenager life was pretty regular,
ie. No internet. If u wanted to see the latest movie(s) you needed to get to the cinema, mostly by train, then walk for km's (miles) to get to movies. It was an event that was such a treat, get you popcorn and slush puppy, to get lost in the characters on the screen, the story line ect. And if you missed the movie youd wait months or years for the VHS to be avail to hire. Point been it took effort and in that, made it special! The same goes for music, (loved it from a very young age and still do) but access was limited, grew up with vinyls, lucklery my Dad had great taste in music, ie Fleetwood mac, Pink.floyd, rolling stones ect. Point been again that limited access made it more special,
Getting up early, putting on the headphones and get lost in the music, the lyrics, transport your mind , was almost spiritual for me.
( at the age of 11 I could recite the entire 'Rocky horror picture show album🙈) point been again things took effort, access and options were limited. And that gave it such value and was just so special, well to me.
Fast forward 30 years or so.and access and options are limitless, like literally, its insanely 'convenient', and I feel thats where a problem arises, its not special anymore, nothings special, its to easy
(This is probably the only problem I have with capitalism) So now the younger generation have turned all their attention on themselves, thanks to tic tok, youtube ect,(broadly speaking) so now they completely and utterly self obsessed and has contributed/led to a generation of narcissist's, wokeists (dont think thats a real word🤔) Ive just used movies an music as a example, obviously their are many differances which resulted to this time and 'dilemma', (loss of respect is a huge factor I feel, but thats another long message) anyway if youve read this entire message thank you Dr, I know Ive taken a long time to get to a 'simple' point.
    God bless
    🙏🇿🇦😎

I was thinking the same thing. Surely there’s a tipping point where the institutional rot is so far gone that it’s more economic to simply build a new one. We literally have that with cars, where sometimes the repair bill can’t justify the car’s continued existence- to the junkyard it goes and a new car is bought (or built).
Take Universities as an example- maybe we need a new car, because I don’t see us chopping out the rot of Marxist bureaucrats and possessed feminist lecturers. Even STEM fields seem dense with mediocre minds who hide behind their titles. And they cost a lot of resources to pay for whatever dividends society obtains from their labours. Not to mention the corruption of soft science (psychology) by the Marxist shit.

Pescador de Hombres! I was raised Catholic and I'm very grateful for the focus of the Virgin Mary that the Church has. It truly helped when I listened to you as a mother- it all fell into place. She's very important. I wanted to ask you about another Mary- Mary Magdalene. Why do you think that Mary Magdalene was the first to see Jesus resurrected, and related to that event, I ask you what do you think she saw, exactly, a d why does Jesus ask that she not touch him? What did he mean? I'd love to know your opinion. Gracias! Te amo! I'm very grateful for my name.

I agree with the constructivist process that we should build on old ideas as we learn more rather than toss it out as obsolete.
The hierarchy pyramid favors the stupid, perverse and the oppressed so we need to return.
They want god out but without god we have no rights and are ruled by man's law which favors one class of people over another.

I was defeated by childhood abuse by the age of 12 so missed out on being a teenager and a young adult. It's not a right, because you can't compel incompetent narcissistic parents to put in the work needed to care for their kids, and the state rarely does a better job.

    • @elinope4745

Similar story, but my older brother was put into foster care before my mother gave custody of me to a sexual abuser after my physically abusive father died. He protected us from my mother's words and actions which at surface level looked more kind but in reality was far more abusive.
The state taught me how to sell drugs by 6th grade. Foster care was an important step in our little operation back then. The foster parents needed extra income and my brother had free time if he had already paid for it.
The state doesn't fix bad families, it only teaches kids hard lessons while breaking apart everything that they are familiar with.

The ignorance would be to assume an authority promising to be responsible enough to maintain harmony if you will only trade your responsibility for it would be capable and righteous enough to keep that promise. Is this not the precise problem freedom loving countries face, always and forever?

I liked this comment. You’re putting my thoughts into words more eloquently than I could have.
Jordan talks a good talk, but he doesn’t really put forward a lot of actionable solutions that would fix the situation we face. Behind his sophistry is a lot of bullshit and bluster. But he’s articulate and he appeals to the emotions of the disenfranchised, and consequently he makes lots of money selling books to emotionally damaged young men whom he does very little to help in the long-term.
But he’s a sign of the narcissism of the times I guess: does absolutely nothing of real measurable value and gets rich in the process. But ‘that’s Capitalism for you folks’. Funnily enough, that’s also a problem with the institutions. They become breeding grounds of mediocre scholarship and scholar, propped up by their title and the real genius of their forebears.

"You didnt earn being young." I've been more and more keen about the words and phrases JP has been using. What does he mean I didn't earn it? Being young wasn't given to me in the same way that my parents earned it, and their parents did. I can't tell you exactly how we earned it but it's definitely something we earned as a result of the work my parents put in on this planet. The cost was whatever work had to go in towards making me. I'm not going to pretend that I owe them something because of that. Maybe I owe them in the sense that they provided me with what they did to have me be the person I am but how do I owe them when the result of them getting what they paid for Is harvesting itself on its own. Isn't it? Where am i confused?
