Temi is a leader of grace and elegance and I wish more of the WNBA followed suit. Temi showed one can be competitive without resorting to smack. I wish her well.
What an intel beautiful tall mercedez rim runner. She is so good for Indiana Fever while CC is in her rookie year. Good luck Temi in Valkyrie team. And YES first commenter in this thread.
And of course Temi's former coach is now part of her new coaching staff. Probably a plus for her. Temi always had the best perspective. Very fun player to watch when she was not injured.
I'll miss Temi and the class she gave the team , but I agree the loss of her basketball skills is a bit overstated. Actually, thinking back to mid season, I voted for 6 Fever players (and Kate Martin) for the All Star team, but not Temi. I believe Tami was injured most of the first half of the season and reinjured in the last half. She's a great team player, so hopefully she stays well and plays well on her new team.
The Fever losing Temi is bad for the Fever but good for the Valkyrie's and also the WNBA. I know I will be watching Temi and Kate play in the Golden State for sure. I think a lot of others will as well. The WNBA needs more likable teams in the league.
Same...The side effect of Temi and Kate going to the Valkyries is that the team has a clean slate and will benefit from the CC effect by having 2 of her beloved former teammates on their roster.
I suspect that if Temi hadn't been injured last season, the Fever would have protected her. She showed she could play fast and she appeared to be a classy person and an excellent teammate.
I was very surprised. There is something that we don't know as to why Temi was left unprotected. We are not privy to the inside knowledge of the Fever management.
Guaranteed Smith was protected, regardless of all the controversy, at her age and salary and not being injury prone and not being a restricted free agent this year, she is still an asset for trade value or on the Fever for another season to manage cap space. The new management is playing chess with the roster, like you said, a big chunk of the cap space will go to Mitchell. Even if they utilize Smith for trade value, since she is the only one on the roster with trade value potential, they still have to pay for who they bring in and more than likely pay more for her replacement. I love Temi but being a restricted free agent would have cost them to keep her so after the initial shock, I get it.
I don’t understand why people keep bringing up age with Temi. She’s the same age as Dantas (32) and more athletic. So is Kayla McBride, Kayla Thornton, Natasha Cloud…
The Fever realistically are 2-3 years away from their championship window opening.Temi will be 35 with who knows how many more injuries. There may only be 4-5 current players that are still on the roster come that time. So all this hand wringing over who was protected and who wasn't is going to be a moot point, because most of them will likely be gone.
Most of the " Noise" was from Christy Sides just being a horrible coach and making all the mistakes she did throughout the season starting from the very beginning. Christy Sides played Erica Wheeler as point guard for over 20 minutes a game for the first 20 games of the season. Imagine the records Cc would have had, had she had even a decent coach, that kept her at point most of the time and if she wasn't point, then actually ran plays for her to get a shot off, not play decoy in the corner for half the game.
I’m not sure anyone is more loved in the WNBA than Temi. Maybe Kate Martin ironically. I do believe Temi (free agent) wanted to be paid too much and the Fever can’t afford it thanks to Sides/Dunn’s ridiculous contracts for KLS and e dub. She deserves to make as much money as possible and if the Valkyries can provide that, good for her. She seems genuinely excited to go to this new team and I’m happy for her. Fever will be ok. Big things ahead for that team. We need to be patient.
I really love Temi and Kate, but... uhm... don't you think that Caitlin is the most beloved person in the W? Yes, she has some haters. ALL of the GREATEST players have had haters, but Caitlin has millions of adoring fans worldwide. Just sayin...
Temi's value doesn't warrant the contract. Currently, they have 9 players on the roster. 3 open spots with 600k to fill it. 250k will go to KM, so they have 2 open spots with 350k to fill it. That's plenty of space to go after any other trade targets. Fever got 90k in Smith and 80k in either Wallace or Berger to use for trade assets if they want to upgrade any of the two remaining starter positions: SF or PF that they need to upgrade. 90k for a starting PF is super cheap, so any team would jump at that offer. Same thing going for having a backup 80k guard like Wallace or Berger. Dallas needs both and doing this trade would help them save a lot if they moved Satou's 250k CORE for both players: Smith/ KW or GB as well as saving like 70k to go and get another value contracted player or rookie draft pick to add to the Wings roster. Fever would then be able to fill the last few roster spots with draft picks or a vet min. Satou, KM = 500k KLS/ DD = 280k Hull = 90k Boston, Clark, Berger, Wallace = 80k each Saxton = 66k That gives them 2 players to fill their remaining spots with like 220k or so if they go with the contracts. They could pursue someone like Gabby Williams at like 140k and then get a rookie deal to fill the last spot. Paying Temi nearly 140k or more is simply too much for a player that played half the games and only averaged 3.5 PPG for like 15 MPG. Any cheap rookie deal would provide the same, especially at 20th in the draft pick or a third rounder. If they don't get Satou, then they can trade for another PF in the league. Certain trade targets exist for that value: Elizabeth Williams from the Chicago Sky. Lynx got like 4 players at the same value as Smith's contract. TBH, there's plenty of suitable value available out there--though the "big fish" are probably not going to the Fever outside of Satou Sabally. if they want to overpay for some player, then Howard's the easiest to get for the Fever.
If i was as hateful as the CC fans are on any podcasts about Angel Reese, I would say that CC probably told the new coach to get rid of Femi because her fans don’t like that she has so many people of a certain type playing with her on this team. So Indiana probably left all those type of people unprotected except for Boston.
The more I think about this the more it pisses me off. Considering the eight other people on the team, this is who you leave unprotected? Probably about money but still feels pretty dumbass to me.
Remind me again who the GM was that put together the 2012 Fever team that won the title? Oh that's right, Kelly Krauskopf. I'm certain she'll entertain your concerns. 🙄
Temi is a leader of grace and elegance and I wish more of the WNBA followed suit. Temi showed one can be competitive without resorting to smack. I wish her well.
💯 I think it's possible for the Fever to be okay without her. But I loved her energy.
She was their best defensive player.
Temi is a class act.
Temi attitude is priceless just like Erica you're not going to see her in the stats her attitude and energy it is priceless for this team
It's not devastating, she is just well liked....great personality

Much respect for Temi . Good luck and better times😊.
And of course Temi's former coach is now part of her new coaching staff. Probably a plus for her. Temi always had the best perspective. Very fun player to watch when she was not injured.
So happy to hear that, thank U❤

Temi is pure class
This is what I'm talking class act.
I'm gonna miss temi
I suspect that if Temi hadn't been injured last season, the Fever would have protected her. She showed she could play fast and she appeared to be a classy person and an excellent teammate.
It also means with saving that money you get 150+ they get to keep their pick which I’m hoping is Sonya citron
Hoping for Katie Lou to unleash her A game again
I was very surprised. There is something that we don't know as to why Temi was left unprotected. We are not privy to the inside knowledge of the Fever management.
The loss is more that who will they find to replace her.

Steph Curry 36 I believe
@ yeah, there’s about a dozen players in the W in their 30s
@@josephpuymon1860not much difference between Temi and Steph's games...🙄

Her frame and game is comparable to Dikembe Mutumbo who played in the NBA until he was 46

I’m sure Smith was protected by virtue of a trade pawn …
I'm curious who they intend to replace Temi with. I don't see a good candidate (available) stateside.
It was a prop 😊
there's no replacing Temi..CC should just go ahead and retire at this point,
Because of salary that makes no sense when she’s only gonna be signing a one year deal anyway so it’s not gonna hand string them for future moves
Grace Berger and Victoria Saxton R Bonafide Talents looking for minutes,,, Dynasty needs a Foundation ❤️
GIVE UP ALYSA SMITH AND BURGER AND GET TEMI BACK ALONG WITH KATE MARTIN,,,CAN A DEAL BE MADE...!!!

Katie and Smith could be Traded
Make that “should “ rather than “ could “. I’m in total accord…
Katie is on a protected contract
@ So Dunn must of really thought highly of Her,,, She and Caitlin seem to be on the same page ❤️
@brendamilton,,, that is So Awesome to hear,,, thank U
If they want to play fast it makes no sense to not protect Temi and keep DD.
Sorry to see the 32 year old go.
Hope that she does well with her new team.!!
Good decision to let her go ¬!!!!
3 points, 2 rebounds and 0 assists per game and everybody is wondering "why" she wasn't protected?

Going by the $$$ Katie Lou will have to go
@michaelflatters,,, New Coach, stable Core, Elegant Free Agent, Caitlin is a Motivated Monster,,,❤
