I am amazed at the flight time, my 600 used to get 12 min with low head speed and two 5000mah batts running parallel, but it was no 800 lol, god she is pretty!
Thanks for all your comments, I'm surprised at how many views this has had as its just a boring vid of me hovering, I thought most people would only be interested in hardcore 3D. I love to see these big heli's in a stable hover but a lot of people think there is no skill in that.
funny even at 1000rpm that thing will still kill you I mean a toy helicopter is a toy but a big boys machine that even at 1000rpm ile still be scared bigger blades have more inertia. than 700mm blades at 2000rpm
@@jonathanoxlade4252 whats his rpm and original govenor setting i habve 1900 in bank 3 on my vbar i think thatl get me 800rpm on a 6s i could always just use a 6 s and a 2s with similar c rating i saw a 3s 5000 same brand as my 5s 5000 that would give me 8s but honestly a 12s 45c stick gave me 7 min hover today at 1500 it didnt seem so bad i was expectting louder
Thanks for the reply, I love to see these big heli's in a stable hover. My only interest is scale flying so have no interest in 3D. Started this hobby back in January this year with a Honey Bee V2 FP and have worked my way up to the 800 building all the birds myself.
Gorgeous bird I'm currently building a 700 but I think I might grab the 800 stretch kit and go straight for gold. Anyone know if Align will make speed fuselage for the 800's as well?
are you flying off 1 6s ? i cant re program my castle esc my vbar is set for external gov when i try to lower head speed it says to low for governong that is anything below 1500. I picked up 2 5000ma 5s and hovered it seemed high but good. i was going to make a parelel jumper for 2 6s
Hi and thanks for watching my video, sorry but I can't be much help to you as I haven't flown my heli's for nearly 8 years so can't remember my ESC settings but I know I always use 2 6s batteries on all my 800 and above heli's👍
rock solid hover but I would expect that from somebody who has a Align 800, Im new to the hobby just started this summer have a 550x and 500x so when I see a hover of that length and stability I am impressed
Impressive hover. I am also interested into scale flying. I got a 470L, my first heli. What pitch and throttle curves do you suggest to have a nice hover besides the gears combinations that you said. Thanks.
i have the same bird . I threw a vbar neo in mine it hovers like yours. I dont need the 1500 rpm hed speed that is the minimum my setup will alow for proper governing i fly it with a vbar bank of 1900 an fly with a 6s its quiet and fun to fly but 800 rpm? is a little on the low sie. I flly it with a 5s and 4s both same packs same discharge rate at a bank of 1500 meant for a 12 s and its a bit to much. i have a 12 pinion. if i change the pinion to a 10 can i get a bigger main gear or do i need to??? i changed pinions on my raptor and in't need to change main gears. my motor is a dominator 490 kv bl850mx. where can i get that same motor your using? thanks and btw the motor comes back piping hot but tha'ts flying in triple digits
Hi Joseph, its been a long while since I've flown my heli's, I just changed the pinion, the main gear is stock, I used to get all my gear including motors from AlignTrex.co.uk, hope that helps, John
I always read DFC is no good for low head speed because the dampers are too hard and the blades can't "flap". But it seems these machines fly fine with it. I'm wondering if I should spend the money converting to a conventional FBL head.
That is one nice machine. Next video make an inverted hover for 15 min. Just out of curiosity how much battery life did you have left. I never seen a heli fly that long.
You will find that the bigger heli's are more stable which up to a point makes them easier to fly, the bigger they are makes them more intimidating and dangerous as they can kill. If you have mastered your HoneyBee FP then the next step would be a Trex 500, these are much better than a 450 as they are more stable.
Hi Edwin, You need to make sure your heli is geared correctly for the head speed you are using, I changed my motor pinion to a smaller one (10t) which will raise the motor RPM and keep the temps down. I also changed my motor to a lower KV version, these motors have a lower max RPM so you can have a lower head speed while keeping the motor running efficiently. You should run the motor at around 80% of it's max speed, running it slower can cause it and the ESC to overheat. It's all about getting a combination of the right motor and gear ratio for your desired head speed.
Geez... by the time I own one of these, I will be 60! How much do these cost with their RC? I don't want shit acrobatics. I just want one like his, at slow revs. This flies beautifully and stable too. I once owned a scale Jet ranger, size 60, slow rev rotor, like the real thing. You're also a good pilot. How do you keep it still and responsive? Is that the way they fly? Is it gas or electric? Sounds terrific. Your neignbours think you're mowing the lawn with it.
The 800 class heli is stable but you need a good setup to get the most out of it. Make sure the swash is dead level and you have zero pitch at mid stick, it's very important to make sure the blades are tracking spot on. Once that is all done you need a good setup in your transmitter so it will respond to your commands but doesn't roll to quickly. All this is made harder when you run a low head speed as I do, the heli needs to be geared correctly for the head speed you are using or it will overheat, I ditched my stock motor and used a low KV one to keep it in the correct power band. This this is an electric version which gives out more power the the gas (nitro) equivalent.
JohnWD40TC02 quite a beautiful model. Btw, what do you mean by zero pitch? Are you saying the swashplate needs to be set flat from all points of the compass? And for you to have done the correct gear settings for slow rev where did you get the main rotor gear? Is it the original gear or did you have to change it? And the motor, did you change the motor or just the gear; since you said that it overheats. Did you change these gears or the speed controller? What about the gyro, isn't it affected? I watched this video fron start to finish. Very nice and sound good. But what impressed me the most is how stable it is when hovering. Mine are smaller and tend to sway all over the place. They just won't hover where you want them to hover. Take your eyes off the heli for a second and it starts to drift in the direction the wind is blowing.
Now that's exactly how to hover in a backyard. Whether you're beginner or pro. No fkn around. Steady nose. Steady altitude(I'm sure you were fighting some wind). Very few pilots have the "patience" to do only that. Plus, almost 15 minutes flight. Purpose for any kind of "close" quarter flying is just for testing. Not for the Attention Deficit or Adrenaline junkies.
Nice same here but I got ried of all my small helicopters should have kept them all I have now is my 500 dfc love it since I been watching u and my friend wc with his big helicopter and u I won't one more now:-) ;-) liked

sorry to hear

The fly just fine at low head speeds with stock dampers, IMO FBL are harder to fly than DFC but others would disagree, it's just what you are used to.
yours seems to do just fine, hard to aurgue with video proof. I'll save my money for now and fly with the DFC.
The mainblades look close 2 the tail blades
That is one nice machine. Next video make an inverted hover for 15 min. Just out of curiosity how much battery life did you have left. I never seen a heli fly that long.
I use a 12s 5000mah pack and I put around 3200 to 3500 mah back into the pack when charging.
Is it easier to fly a bigger heli ie a 500 or 600 as opposed to a 450 size ?. At the moment i am also on HBFP

Hello.does it have some autopilot system?
Hi, no its just me doing the flying.
@@JohnWD40TC02 very nice
how can you lower the temperature on the motor? After 8 minutes of flight mine rises to 140deg. (no 3d). suggestions? Thanks

Nice!
Hi Felix, those blades are from the 800 Trekker, I don't use the stock 780mm as they are not stable enough for my flying style.
right! where are the piro-flips, funnels and tic-toc's_man?
The 800 Pro uses the same boom and blade size as the 800 Trekker so there shouldn't be any problems.
Thats a Model Helicopter Right there
Yeah, I own a few birds.
