Old machete restoration turns into Japanese kitchen knife

- Old machete restoration turns into a beautiful Japanese kitchen knife. In this restoration video, I restore and re-build this very rusty antique machete. I’m very happy with the result and love the look of my new beautiful Japanese kitchen knife.
We found this rusty an at least 100 years old machete in a local junk yard and just had to rescue it from death. I used special electrolysis and hard machinery to do the rust removal from the machetes blade. I used an angel grinder with a hard disc to adjust the edges on the knife blade. I created a new handle from an old broken hammer. I blacked the blade out with fire and oil but gave the edges a polished look to add some contrast to the blacked-out knife blade.
I really think that I managed to capture the simplicity and beauty of the Japanese kitchen knife. The knife didn’t get as sharp as a real Japanese knife it’s just another kind of steel, so I didn’t go to hard killing tomatoes in the video.
You can turn ON CC subtitles for further information while you watch the restoration video/my re-build of the little machete.

"found in a junkyard" totally sounds like its not a former murder weapon (sarcasm)

Lol
You see he knew where to find his knives
yes and now it is used to cut tomatos :^)
I love how you wrote ‘let’s give this machete a second chance’, you’re like Bob Ross of rusty things😃
Alexa DEspacito agreed but why did he put a trash handle on it. It’s so ugly for the machete
@@naradamugnolo7555 it was repurposed.. Also, if you agree how do you not see that it was titled "Japanese kitchen knife"? The stereotypical Japanese chef knife always has a wooden handle like this.
That's a Happy little thought, with a happy little cloud and a happy little tree. Rip Bob Ross-
You absolutely nailed it and the people disliking this have issues

God has sent this man to the world for making unique restorations.
If these objects were alive, had thoughts/feelings, and could speak, I'm sure they'd be extremely grateful and overwhelmed with happiness from being restored
Now he has do do a restoration on the hammer he destroyed in the video
Giving viewers a nice visual spectacle before restoration.👍
Thanks Tania .. glad that you think so :)
Amazing work!! To think you took something that far gone and not only restored it, but turned it into something that beautiful. Awesome job!!
Thanks Gaylen. I glad that you liked it. It's now a part of our kitchen equipment ;)

Watching this videos reminds me how sometimes everything or everyone deserves a second chance
Yes, I'm gonna go cheat on my gf and tell her I just need some epoxy and I'm ready for a second chance
@@neon_underscoreshe would say maybe a little electrolysis treatment? As I’m sure she would have a few choice parts of your anatomy to hook the battery charger leads to. 😂😂
I am from Indonesia.
You do something simple. But it means a lot.
Thanks for remind me that happiness is not only about money.

"This is some good, quality Japanese food."
"Yeah. Did you know the Japanese knife that was used to cut our food here, used to be an old rusty machete?"
Only Samurai sword Makers in Japan makes the best Sushi knives, no kiddin. I am part Japanese (I'm mixed so I can tell you that)

Okay so I honestly cannot stand when you tubers are like hey be sure to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe. But like the way you do it is so non invasive like it’s a nice reminder to like your videos but it doesn’t take away from the actual experience so thank you for that!
It really is incredible! Restoration is at a very high level, but also is filming and editing! Thumbs up for all videos on this channel 👍🏽

Ha ha ... thanks for watching 👌😀
I felt triggered when the metal peice on the the handle was a little bit too big but relieved when he fixed
Great job man! Really enjoyed the craftsmanship!!
Thanks 👍
Am I the only one crying about the heat treat?
No ... I'm crying toooo. But The knife still works and are sharp 😉👌
😆👍🏻
It's kinda lame tbh lol
As far as I know, if it's hot enough it will smoking like crazy when quenched, and some steel can even bend, but this, i don't know why it made me laugh...
That's not even considered as a heat treatment. He just warmed up a blade lol
But I also don't believe he's a blacksmith or a metallurgist, so that's fine. This would've been bad if he was an expert in it!
Would have like to have seen a good strong mechanical connection with the handle. Pinned or pommel. If you are chopping fish onto a hard surface, that blade won’t survive the strength test.
Awesome ! you turned a rusty scrap knife into a thing of beauty 🤘
Thanks a lot 👍
This is art. I have an old matchete like that, i would like to restore it. Let's go !

That's a GREAT KNIFE!!!
This blade is so *BEAUTIFUL*... in Japan, craftsmen who makes kitchen knives also hand make Samurai swords, Katanas (my favourite) and sword hilts (called the "Tsuba" in Japanese, in very geometric motifs/designs). A craftsman who makes great Kitchen Knives also makes high quality swords for Warriors. Samurai swords for men, and smaller Katana for women to defend themselves (grab, open, and unleash !!). Enjoyed you video very much ;)
Very cool!
