Joe Hankins was very instrumental along with the others in the development of this Airport. He also built the largest home along the runway ,which was featured in this video.
Awesome! He must have gotten involved after the initial discussion; we based it on the first few articles that ran about this up to the point it was approved; up to that point Hankins had not appeared. We have since learned that others were brought on board after approval.
@yourhistoryinsight He was involved at the very beginning starting in 1979 .You can ask anyone. He wasn't a prominent businessman as the others , so maybe that's why he wasn't mentioned. He built the 2nd home on the left with the pool in 1980 . He kept the runway mowed for years and won the lottery for the best lot offered at the time they were deciding what runway lots could be offered to sell . He was involved in an ultralight crash at the airport in 1985 and continued to fly for several years after... He was a true flying enthusiast .
@@markhankins9419Yeah..I remember when he wrecked..thats when his car lot was still open on Chatham Heights Rd. Is that airport near that tall silo thing with the spiral staircase inside? Ive been up in the top of that..its an apartment.
Once again, I didn’t know this, thank you! Nicely done!
And we thank you for watching!
Another great one. thanks again.
We are so glad you found it interesting!
