Great video! I like the phenolic sound better for mid reproduction. I have a video titled "Horn Speaker Comparison JBL 2360, Altec 511b 811b, EV Electro Voice SM120a HP640, Yamaha S4115H" where you can hear the differences between different horns with a phenolic diaphragm.
In your case for the D2200PH with supporting tweeters, depending on power of course, you can run them 600bt18-5000bt18 (them TW500 play pretty low for a tweeter). Run them 10s low on the LPF (between 1650-2200 on the low pass) let the driver do the upper vocals and the midbass will shine on the lows and low vocals!
Ty, so if I was using some say 6.5" prv bullet mids and 4" ti700 tweeter wouldn't need one of these or would my sound gain a lot from adding a ti horn? Sorry if that's not asked right. I know a lot about the bass side of audio not a lot about mids/highs and crossovers. But I'm planning a large build and need to get my mids and highs up to sound right. Thanks you and subscribed
Sorry for the late reply, you can always benefit from a compression driver for a more full sound. With a phenolic driver (1" would be sufficient such as the d270ph) you can run the low pass lower on the speaker so the vocals are stronger and then the driver will fill the gap between the speaker and the tweeters!
One thing I rarely see addressed is the comparison in the way each sound (ferrite vs neo). Is there even any difference? In my opinion, small neo tweeters like the ones that are packaged in a component set, cannot match the unstrained output of a full-sized ferrite tweeter, althought both have 1" coils and have similar frequency response. * any intellegent response is welcome
@@csj9619 that's because there is zero sound difference in magnet material. People have this misconception that neo speakers sound better. It's just not true.
@@csj9619 now if we're talking 8" 10" 12" speakers and 4" voice coil compression drivers, ferrite has better hear dissipating capabilities and so you can abuse them more as there is more magnet mass.
Im running (6) 6.5 neos in my front doors with 4 tweeters and gonna add in 2 horns in each door off of their own amp. Would phenolic be the best way to go?
What would u say is better? I have B&C MH32 12”, and Prv tweeters, I want to get 4 drivers. What would u say is good to fill in the gap? Phenolic or titanium? What brand ? Thank you
@@MegaJohn334 MH32 won't couple well with a 4" c.driver. You are going to have missmatch on 2000hz. I'd sugest you DE250 that produces crystal highs. I use it on ME45 horn. Try it. You'r gonna ❤️ it.
That’s exactly the video I was looking for now I know very well which one I want after your explanation.
So which one is best my guy??
@@Shyne_life there is no which one is best. It depends on your application.
Very informative I’ve been in car audio for 30 years and always wondered about this thanks
Thanks man I'm glad I could share and teach a veteran in this game something new !

I have 4 10mb800ft per rear door
2 2200ph per
2 tw500my per
2 st200 per
What frequency would cross them at for my application

Could you compare a bolt-on vs screw-on horn driver of the same watt and size?
There is no difference. Only the way the waveguide mounts
@@12voltfever Thank you for the quick response. Thanks.

@@12voltfeverI’ve tested both neo and ferrite side by side and trust me there’s a big difference when it comes to the titanium drivers.
A few years ago, I had a neo magnet on my work bench that got too close to a razor blade. Damn near took my finger off!

Phenolic would be good. I would take a look at the new PRV WG175PY or if you have the space WG270PH
Can they need you on a professional dj sound system?
Don't really understand the question?
When using Titanium driver do I still need tweeter ?
You don't need it. Some people will tell you otherwise. You can use a tweeter also and it does improve brightness.
@@12voltfever thanks I have been using both and I removed the tweeter and my sounds better with out them
So the titanium is higher and the phenolic is adjustable mid range type?
They both play "mid range" frequency but the titanium can play much higher, but not as low as a phenolic.
@@12voltfever i have 2 4” titanium tweeters and 2 2” titanium tweeters with 4 neo 8’s mid. I think imma go with a phenolic and tune a little higher
@@12voltfever do horn length play a part?
@@AllSoWavyReese yes especially on phenolic. The longer the better. Sounds cleaner and gives deeper vocals.
@@12voltfever hey thats wat he said but ok i got u😂
Thanks 😊
So basically have one of each a ti/ph a good mid range and go to work
Yes it's good to combine them
titanium is better. most of c.drivers use titanium.
It is a matter of preference, depending on the system.
@@12voltfever I know. I have titanium, polyester, polyimide. All 3 have their caracteristics.
