Yay, we've moved out of bagland 😄 I love CTC teas, the process that brought big flavoured tea to the masses. I do enjoy a good orthodox big leaf tea (Anders territory), but for an everyday/all-day brew CTC wins for me, not least because the spent leaves go down the drain, unlike orthodox where you either fight it at the plughole or compost/bin it. 😝 Great vid guys. I'm sure you don't need any review recommendations for loose leaf CTC teas but I'm gonna give you some anyway: Miles Teas - Smugglers Gold loose leaf, Ceylon loose leaf (don't be put off by your experience with their west country bags, these are a world apart). Tata Tea Premium. Safari loose leaf Kenyan tea. Brooke Bond Red Label. Tata Tea Gold. Jenier Bothy Brew.
When you go to Yorkshire Gold its a different blend in the loose compared to the bag. They told me the loose contains more orthodox leaves and has Ceylon where the bag doesn't. I actually prefer the bag v loose with the Gold overall but the loose over the bag with the standard, you just get that fuller taste like you say. This is not to knock the gold loose but the bags have it nailed. Overall I'm happy to stick to bags but like to mix it up. However at the start of the year I had some Punjana loose tea (Thompson's everyday) and it was the best tea I've ever had! The flavour had that something extra almost a slight fruit/caramel/winey flavour. The packs ive brought since are different and lack that unless my taste has changed! Its pretty cheap from Thompson's so I'll try again soon! I could drink loose all the time but would always have Yorkshire Gold or some Thompsons or Barrys in because they are great bags. If you want a different flavour almost light floral try Ringtons English breakfast, more leafy and doesnt need much milk at all. The Gold is good and different to the bags however dont bother with the standard breakfast or traditional, exactly the same as they put in the bags not larger CTC. FYI I do 3g of loose tea on my coffee scales for 8oz of water. I think most bags are 3.1g. Gather the loose up and put it on plants in the garden, tea doesnt go mouldy like Coffee grinds so you can store it up. I love the convenience of bags but I use the Finum tea brewing basket for the cups, they are great and super fine. I think overall bags brew up stronger but loose edges out more flavour, could it be due to the constrictions of the bag? I've no idea 😅
Hi! Anders here, you've intrigued me with the Punjana loose leaf. We're going to have to investigate that at some point. Ringtons bags have impressed us hugely so we will have to go to the loose leaf too (so many teas!). I've never weighed out tea before its always been a teaspoonful which is strange as I'm very precise when making coffee. This is something that should change I think. On the whole when I drink tea it's loose leaf that I get from a place called It's Tea and I think you're right loose leaf exudes more flavour and, like you, I don't know why. 🙂
@@punktea8142 I'll have to expirement more with loose, I buy from Northern Tea merchants from Chesterfield online. I genuinely think loose even in CTC brews up more flavor, teabag more strength. Just had a wonderful cup, you got it standard Yorkshire loose, it's just great for that everyday one.
Just tried some Yorkshire tea mad in UAE in the traditional string bag, just meh and actually quite bitter. I have been drinking the Taylors English Breakfast and figured I would give their less expensive brand a go and boy was it less in flavor as well. Liptons is better than that cheap string bag Yorkshire made in UAE.

This channel is like a big tanker, it takes time to move another direction, we will get there, eventually. There is just too many teas.

Well we are truly thankful that is not available to us, a bullet dodged as they say.
