It's great how the writers come up with a completely new character for Bill Bailey to act out, each episode. Jesus, Igor, a Copper, distraught soldier and now a run-away.
Dylan's personality suits the character he plays. Bill Bailey portrayed "Manny Characteristics" in a relaxed feeble minded simplistic ways... Well . That's my short humble minded opinion. ____"Without him it's just a "yo!"___
The argument between Fran and Bernard is honestly really down to earth and human. It's not done up or overplayed for entertainment value. It feels like an argument anyone could have in a real life scenario. That little hint of drama every now and then complements the comedy extremely well. If only they still made shows like this.
You're kidding right? It's overplayed with comedic intent. It's deliberately mocking shows like Days Of Our Lives, right down to the "both actors delivering lines looking towards the camers" shtick lmfao.
The one were Bernard has a gambling addiction i love and that ep were Manny's parents drop by too. "Pardon me boy is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo" 😂😅😂
I said this on another Black Books vid, but I’ll say it again. I think Fran may be the only person in the world Bernard truly loves. He likes having Manny to toy with but he wants Fran’s friendship and approval. Their relationship is a dysfunctional one, but it’s ultimately the heart of the show.
Not underappreciated. Saying that is not a compliment, you know. It just comes across that you want to be noticed, for noticing him. Big whoop. We all notice him.
WOW, a Persian yelling Japanese....you won't see that in just any old sitcom!!! I do have to say this about the better Britcoms: the writers are pure geniuses, the weirdest situations get woven in the funniest situations, absolutely brilliant.
The bit where Bernard cuts his pants and puts them on the radio... 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 I died. And Manny's little hand trying to reach the buttons under it... I cried. Too funny! Love Black Books. Thank you for sharing 💗
9:50 can’t believe it took me this much time to realise the scene must be a reference to Midnight Cowboy. I’m pretty certain that’s the song played in the opening of the film.
First time seeing this series, but long time fan of Dylan's stand up routines. Was a little underwhelmed but this episode is a total game changer! Once the Midnight Cowboy reference kicked off I couldn't stop giggling 😂
Another 7 or 800 years of episodes would have been just so . I might walk across the street to Safeways to get some popcorn ,but it is raining . Graham Linehan is a 5 Star God .
At the end they were so happy to see him, after being so worried and so heartbroken, and when they saw him they acknowledged him like nothing had happened, weren't angry, didn't ask questions. There was a deep sense of empathy. They smiled at each other and looked at their books. Bernard and Fran somehow turned into better parents than a lot of us had over the course of an episode
