Now a real life scenario: tiger is hidden on a hill, shoots, 1 Sherman blows up, shermans shoot but don't know exactly where he's at, tiger shoots again, 2nd Sherman blows up, tiger turns and angles armor, m4a3e8 moves up, comes dangerously close to the tiger, tiger does not stand still as it does in the movie, but turns the entire tank to increase turret traverse speed and angle it's armor, Sherman shoots the angled side of the tiger and bounces, tiger shoots the Sherman's side and it explodes. End of the story
Wrong. 76 armed shermans can penetrate a tiger through the front at normal combat ranges. also the tiger advanced on the shermans because they couldn't see through the smoke.

Mind you that tigers armor was near flat. Also, some shermans with the 76 carried HVAP rounds. HVAP M-93 shot can penetrate 135mm of armor at the same 30° angle, from 1,000 yards. The same HVAP ammunition penetrates 116mm of armor at 1,500 yards from the same angle.

Fun fact: the tiger had 82mm of armor on its sides and rear, the rear armor is technically more effective than the side armor, due to its angle, plus it's impossible for a Sherman to shoot through the engine block.

Technically this movie is inaccurate. Nonpenetrations, inaccurate and dumb enemies etc. But historically it's one of the most accurate. It's tough to find a movie about western front which shows everything from Hitlerjugent with panzerfaust knocking out Shermans and fanatic SS to American soldiers looting and desperation among american tankers because of superiority of german tanks in terms of armor and guns, from local ambushes to hardcore last stands, committed by few in everyday war rutine. Actually my good sirrrr, the Sherman VC Firefly, which had the british 17 pounder (76.2mm) main cannon was able to penetrate the lower glacis of the tiger 1 with HVAP.

My point is, the tank that the Fury crew has is a M4A3 HVSS 'Easy Eight' which has a 76mm, loaded with HVAP, though rare, could penetrate the lower glacis.

the Sherman 76 without the muzzle break isn't a Jumbo. its just an early M4A1 Hull.
The tigers commander would firstly, yes there was smoke so he would command the tank to move out of the smoke, not fully rush the Shermans. Secondly he would have ordered for “fury” tank to have been shot first because it was the superior tank, any commander would know that. That is not how anyone would use a tiger lmfao...
