I really had an amazing time talking with this extraordinary lady and fellow Canadian who is really given’er! Let us know if you enjoyed this chat we had. And also let us know if you want us to do that Part 2 mentioned in the video.
Yes, please, to part 2!
@@bebopisthetruth She’s very busy, but I’ll try.
I was the "local" guitar player that taught Jocelyn up to when she auditioned for the University of Manitoba. I taught for the Prepatory Studies Dept at the University and she had a lesson pretty much once a week for a year with me. I could tell she was going to go on something big early on. She was very serious, had a great ear, worked hard and was smart.
That’s cool, Mike! Thanks for watching and sharing. I have to agree with that last bit.
Jocelyn is great! I saw her over on Benedetto Guitars and was way impressed.😁👍👍
You should have been. She’s a great player.
I'm glad that we now have MANY WOMEN playing jazz guitar, because there are many girls who are now picking up jazz guitar. In the past, we've had Mary Osborne, Carol Kaye, Leni Stern, Emily Remler, Mimi Fox, Sheryl Baily--took some online lessons with her, Amanda Monaco--she taught at my college, Mary Halvorson, Camila Meza, Eleonora Strino... there's many more that I will have to come back to the list and edit. Sorry to harp on gender, but Adam makes a great point.
I teach high school (not music) and there are many girls picking up jazz--I think that the climate is changing for the better. Everyone is bringing a new creative vigor and rigor to the artform! Thanks Jocelyn for being a contemporary inspiration to future jazz guitarists to come! If you look back at the early history of guitar-through painting-guitar was a uniquely female artform.
The more we break stereotypes about how gender is performed (Judith Butler, et al), the more voices and advancement we can bring to jazz!
Wow! Thank you for your comment. It’s great to hear from someone that has “boots on the ground” experience. I hope the change continues.
Not forgetting the incredible Molly Miller who is one of my favourite players and the totally unique playing of Lari Basilio.
@@rocketpost1 I don’t know much of Molly Miller. But Lari is fantastic. There are a lot of amazing female guitarists around nowadays. It’s about time!
Thanks Jocelyn and Adam for this great conversation!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!
Really nice conversation. Thanks for sharing this, Adam.
Adam! Thanks for watching. Hang soon?
Yes, please.@@JazzRockswithAdam
@@AdamLevyGuitarTips I’ll be in touch.
Jocelyn is incredible! For now she should be touring. There will be plenty of time to teach when she gets tired of the road.
That’s probably what she’s thinking too. Thanks for watching.
Way to go, Jocelyn!
Thanks for checking it out!
She's absolutely amazing! I had no idea she won an award! Absolutely deserves it! She's so amazing! Her singing and playing together, showing virtuosity in her musicianship. It's a sight to behold if anyone gets to see her live.
I agree. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Out of the 20 people (as per today) who have commented, I wonder how many have actually listened to her play in various settings... "Lady of the Guitar" ? ... Not so fast...
Only they would know or not.
What’s the time code of “Thirds Rule of Learning? I watched most of the video but missed this topic!
Hi Martin. Geez, I’m not sure give me a bit to see if I can find it…
Try the 21:00 mark.
Many thanks and great video. Can't wait for part 2.
@@martinjazzwebster Thanks for watching and for your comment.

Sorry, don’t know if you caught it in the interview but her audio was not cooperating and her guitar couldn’t be heard so we had to unfortunately couldn’t make that part of the interview work.
