#CoreAndBlue #VFX #DaVinciResolve - Навчання та стиль
What are YOUR best practices to improve DaVinci Resolve performance? Editing only as the color and Fusion pages have their own workflow.
Proxies. I import all the media, then generate the proxies over night and on,h the next day I start editing.
That’s a good practice! Are you recording in camera with H.264 or H.265?
@@CoreAndBlue h.264. But I have a very slow / low spec laptop, so I need all the "help" I can get.
You helped so much. This tutorial made me like DaVinci Resolve 17 again. It's a bit complicated for beginners, but tutorials like yours are the reason I didn't gave up on this program.
@@gltchd_ That’s amazing! Glad we could make it a better experience for you.
You have absolutely saved me, thanks so much for this easy to understand tutorial. I have been struggling for months to learn to edit with Davinci and have been greatly hampered by the lagging and skipping in my timeline. Playback is smooth and I can now finally make cuts without going back over the same spot 6 times. I can't thank you enough.
Your ability to break complex things and delivery is very good. I learned a lot just from watching few videos of yours. Keep it up bro and Thanks ! 👍
Life saver! I needed this because lyric videos are hard to do ESPECIALLY when the playback is that laggy. Appreciate it.
Amazing tutorial, better explained than a lot of other videos out there. You've saved me from a heap of trouble. Thanks!
Glad that this video is helping that many users. Maybe it should come bundled with DaVinci Resolve. 😄
Thank you so much for the detailed video! Clearing the cache under Delete Render Cache really helped smooth things out during editing. The jumping and skipping in the playback were so frustration. Before I watched this video I looked like your thumbnails. 👏👏👏
Hey, glad we could help making the experience a little better. 😊
This was also my issue!
That's an extremely good tutorial. To the point, incredibly clear and left me feeling I got it all.
Wow! You save my day! Thank you so much! I just bought the R6 and use it to shoot a lot of videos. The shooting is fun. But, when I come to the editing part, it is so painful. The pain go away after I saw this video. Thank you again!
Glad this can make the editing part of your workflow a better experience. 😊
We love the Canon R6 and 10bits 4.2.2 is great for color grading. H.265 is simply not a suitable editing codec. Thank you for watching!
Wow. Really impressed with the speed and quality of your information in this video! You got me up to speed... with speed... quickly. Thank you.
Haha, thank you Jim! Really appreciated.
Guess i need the crash course on this subject... thanks for your hard work and sharing your knowledge, to think a person once had to go to college and pay an ass load to get training like this... and honestly this is way better than any class i took.
Thanks! Your video on caching and proxies etc was so instructive and clear. You have answered so many of my questions.
This is really appreciated! Thank you Phillip!
Maaaan you are so underrated, very well explained. I save up so much time now without these super annoying lags, big thank you man!
Greetings from Freiburg, Germany!
Thank you for the kind words! Glad this could help. 👊
So helpful, thank you!
Your content is always so well made - hope you have an amazing day! :)
Thank you for the very kind words! Glad you enjoy our work.
Day was great also. 😁
You've got a new subscriber! Great tutorial and delivery of information is as professional as can be.
Thank you!
Proxies with DNxHR SQ completely solved the lagging for me. I had never tried it before simply because it cost computing power upfront. My typical workflow includes browsing my library (5 terabytes) for clips and throwing them directly into the timeline. This wasn't amenable to generating proxies because I would have to make proxy files for everything I capture with my camera (encodes in H.265). I've rearranged my workflow to require a bit more planning for the clips I want to make proxies of. However, it's well worth it since I now get perfectly smooth playback - including massive timelapse files. Thank you, again, for taking the time to show the community the proper way to handle H.265 media!
Glad you found this helpful. 😊
Using low bitrate proxies can be a lifesaver, particularly when dealing with a lot of footage as DNxHR SQ is CPU friendly and doesn’t require an excessive amount of space.
FANTASTIC VIDEO. Thank you so much for your truly excellent explanation. Your teaching style is so clear.. i have been searching for days to find someone who could explain proxies and cacheing.. you have done it! The structure and logic of your video is the best..
That’s really kind of you! We do try to make those as instructive and clear as possible. Glad to hear that we are doing a good job. 😊
An excellent video! A must see for anyone starting out with Resolve. I can't wait to watch your other videos.
Thank you! It is definitely something that a lot users struggle with.
Straight to the point and lots of options. Very cool tutorial. Now a new subscriber.
Thank you very much for joining us! 😊
Thank you so much for your videos , I’m a new creator just started having trouble with the render que taking to much time ~ I watched many videos , just only your videos made me understand it well~ More Power! & God Bless ! ~
bruuuuh the rendering cache bit helped so much, I was actually able to see my fusion transitions. Thanks so much!
This helped me so much, I was getting so annoyed at the laggy playback and this really helped, thank you so much!!
This video was PERFECT. Thank you. Just turning on the Render Cache made a huge difference for me.
Thanks, Core and Blue, I was looking for a solution to bring smooth playback and now got it after correcting my settings. you are awesome 😍
That’s great! Glad to hear that this was helpful. 😊
Thank you very much for this video. As someone who is relatively new to editing, this was a huge help.
I don’t normally comment on UA-cam but after watching numbers of videos about this issue i found this video which is agame changer to me you deserve my subscription with a like and tap a bell in that I don’t miss any of your videos thank you bro from another mother
This tutorial should come bundled with DaVinci. This helped a me so much. Thank you!
This is the most detailed video about this subject. New user struggling with Davinci Resolve, and this video is gold.
Glad you found it useful! Thank you for posting a comment. :)
Thanks a lot, this improved playback speed immediately. Can't recommend the video enough! Great job!
There are quite a few videos on this subject but taking time to explain what everything does is what helped me fix my playback! Thanks
That’s great! Glad we could help make things smoother.
Thank you so much, I swear to god ive watched so many bloody videos and this is the only one that fixed my issue, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! clicking render cache color output fixed it, it was driving me crazy!
Excellent! Glad we could help.
💛 Best guide ever, and amazing clarity to let us understand what's going on. My compliments good sir.

Wow!! This is the best video I’ve seen in years!! Wow! Keep them coming.
That's some serious praise! Thank you very much!
Thank you this was amazing and the most easy to understand and fastest way I have learned to speed up my work in Davinci - This one was the best - Thank you for making it so easy!!!!
Ayyyy Core and Blue at it again!!
Thank you! We haven’t talk for way too long my friend. Hope everything is going well.
Just came back to it after I followed instructions. Thank you bro it worked like a charm

Thank you so so much!! This is an incredible and super useful video for so many of us 🙏
Super helpful for someone brand new to the software as well as editing 4k in general!!! Thanks
Once you find the right settings for your setup , it does make editing 4K+ footage a lot easier. Glad we could help.
You are helping understand this complex issue. You made me smarter)) I like that you write notes on your hand)
Man this video is awesome you had great in depth knowledge of the program. i had watched a ton of videos on davinci to speed up and stop lagging while playback but i was not able to find the root cause but this video really helped me to solve and understand the program. thank you soo much Mann . keep going don't stop. 😍😍😍❤ from Travel with Mr delilvery.
Thank you very much for the love! Glad you found it useful. 😊
@@CoreAndBlue yes bro it brought my hope back and got trust for my laptop 😇😅
I have been searching for a fix to my lagging and stuttering issues for SO damn long now... NEVER did it occur to me that having my recorded clips on a HDD would course such issues. Swapped them to my SSD and now it runs as smooth as butter. Cheers mate.
Great advises. I just starting with DaVinci and this video helped me a lot.
This is definitly one a nice and productive Christmas present for me..Thank you and yeah thanks again
Glad we can help.
Merry Christmas and Happy editing! 🤟🎅
Excellent video. Really helped sorting out some playback problems I was having.
That's great! Glad it helped.
Thank you so much for your video !!!! It's really help me !! I was thinking of buying a new computer but in reality i don't need a new one
Really helpful , Thanks a lot for such video :) Keep creating
Best video about the subject on UA-cam!
Awesome video, thanks for the help! I would be interested in a video where you go through how you store the media, where you store the source media, the proxies, where the cache is being stored etc. :D Also how you go about handling your media in general, I struggle a lot with having things organized, Everything is such a mess that I get discouraged before even starting editing haha...
Thanks again!
Amazing! Thnx! When everybody is like “which machine to get to work with 12k braw” this kind of knowledge is more than gold! Thank you excellent!
Thank you very much for the appreciation!
Thank you so much. I just started to learn video editing. I used to work as an audio engineer so I got the basics for video editing, but this is really helpful to get a better workflow in video editing. I just downloaded Davinci 2 days ago and learning it. I’m very lazy with video editing. I’d like to try vlog while riding my bike. See how I go. Again, thank you so much. 😊🙏🏽
Hey, happy to help. Just like for most things, good preparation and organisation gives a much better workflow and make for a much more enjoyable experience. DaVinci Resolve is a great tool that offers a ton of features to make editing faster and easier.
A great first step to get familiar with the software and making sure that you don’t develop bad habits is the free beginner course offered by BlackMagic on their website. They provide all the ressources to learn while building a proper project.
We’ll also have more practical tutorials coming soon. 😊
Same exact scenario here, audio engineer learning video editing. Great video!
@@stayover7315 Audio is such a fascinating topic! Glad you like this video.
Thanks for this, idk why I didn't lower time timeline resolution to begin with! I render in 1440p, but having the playback the same was making DaVinci lag quite a lot.
It was so helpful!! Thanks a lot
Great informative video, thank you for sharing.
Awesome tutorial! Helped me a lot! Thank you ☺
great video. I have an HP Pavilion 2020 Laptop. Had some problems with 4k video playback. Was very frustrating but your video helped my problem. I will have to use proxies. Do you think my laptop is adequate enough to handle 4k or will I always have to do proxies?
oh thankfully, within the 3minutes of your video, my playback finally smoothen after checking youtube ang searching google on how to work on it as I am trying to preview a video collage of 6 videos. wow such a help. thank you
Great video. Recently I’ve been thinking about learning how to use DaVince Resolve
Thank you! Definitely recommending it as DaVinci Resolve is a powerful all in one tool that scales up to all kind of workflow and projects.
thanks for your hard work and sharing your knowledge❤👌👍
Great tutorial. Learnt a lot today. Many thanks.
Well done buddy! Thank you for this information!
Glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching! 😊
First video I watch, subscribed.
👊🏼🔥
je viens de découvrir lla chaine. Félicitation. super qualité ;)
Amazing vidéo man, thank you
I love how he speaks in french using english words! :D.
Thanks for the video, I didn't grasp much as a total noob but generating proxy media solved the issue.
Haha thank you! 😅
Proxies give the best performance so you got the essential. The rest is particularly useful when you start adding effects or heavier color grading.
Thank you. This video helped a lot!
Awesome, glad this could help.
bro. the proxy render setting is a complete game changer!! feel like that setting alone could have been the whole video with a mic drop... I have a mac pro 12 core and was wondering why I was still getting all that lag... thank you so much for the help!!
Saved the day brother, god bless you!
taught me so much in 10 mins, thank you!
This helped a lot, thank you.
Everithing was perfectly explained by you. Thank you very much for this video. Regards

DUDE THANK YOU I SPENT A WHOLE HOUR ON THIS
Thank you very much for watching! Glad it helped. 👊🏼
This was very helpful. Thank you.
Glad we could help! 😊
You're a lifesaver. Additional question though, do you color grade usung the proxies or is there a way to revert them back to their original files before color grading? Thank you!
Very useful guide, thanks!
Glad you found it useful.
you're truly good! thank you
This was needed. Thank you!
Glad you found it helpful. 😊
Thanks! Best video in space!!!
Your video helped me so much! Thank you, man!
I'm trying to make some videos for my music, but really struggling with it every time 😖
Hopefully, this will make the experience a lot better. 😊

Yooo! I thought is wasn't real until I tried it and it's crazy unbelievable, thank you so much! 🎉
thank you. this is relly helpful
Thanks a lot this will mike it so so much better
Hi, this is he best video about Davinci timeline playback. You saved me a lot of time. In the middle of the video you show that CPU is struggling with real-time playback, will the CPU upgrade will help with it somehow or even maxed out CPU will still work at 100% ? Cache takes time and it is a bit annoying when the timeline starts to lag during editing process. I am looking for way to have it seamlessly. Usually I have material from 3-4 different cameras with 4K resolution and all of them have different codecs.
Hi, thank you for your comment!
A CPU upgrade can’t hurt but first, you need to pin point where is the bottleneck in your hardware and workflow.
Footage access (Disk) -> Frame Decoding (CPU if no dedicated decoder) -> Effects and color grading computing (CPU and GPU)-> Image processing (GPU) -> Cache Writing (Disk).
So depending of the type of footage you are working with (H.264, H.265, ProRes, Raw?), you will have vastly different results and as shown in the video, the CPU will max out no matter what if it has to decode H.265 footage even before it can compute anything else. You can brute force the decoding with a very powerful CPU but this will always be an intensive process and why the industry works with proxies.
If you are a one man shop handling Editing, color grading and VFX, this is be a balancing act between visual quality and playback performance as pages like Color and Fusion are not designed for smooth playback but pixel perfect image processing.
Amazing video thank you so much
Thank you for the appreciation Andreas!
Awesome video. Amazing shirt 🕹
Thank you very much !! I learned more from you in 5 minutes than in months from other youtubers 😉👍 sub
Thank you for those nice words! Very appreciated!
Absolutely fantastic video! Have seen a few videos before and no one explained this topic so great like you. Just simple, clean and straight to the point. Subbed, thank you very much! :D
Disagree. He spends 11 minutes talking about codecs and stuff, like, get to the point. We want to know how to fix the issue, not a documentary on file types.
Bien joué! Gros! très bon travail! Merci beaucoup!
Excellent! Ravis que cela ait pu t’aider.
Great video... Subscribed Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the sub! 👊
Great video! Thank you for the help! ✊
Glad we could help. Thank you for watching! 👊
BIG BRAVO IT HELPS A LOT THIS
An excellent video! Keep it Up! Thanks!
Thank you very much Hirobi!
Is there no way for many text in the timeline? I want to edit it & when I render it in place I cant do that.
Great video, thank you very much!
Hey, thanks to you for watching! 🖤🤟🏼
This was a great tutorial, thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Sorry for the late reply.
