    The SA-35 with stock factory parts and untouched with aftermarket, is the very BEST “Hi Power” straight out of the factory box and ever made by anyone.

    I bought one of these earlier this year. Mine was hitting about four inches low at 15 yards. After several hundred rounds I had an extraction problem. I sent this pistol back to the factory. I asked them to change the sight out so it would hit dead on. They fixed the extraction problem and the point of impact issue. Kudos to Springfield.

    This is an excellent pistol. The mod that I highly recommend is the Safe Fire System from B&H Spring Solutions. It makes it safer, self-cocking and eliminates any chance of hammer bite. Lots of vids here about that.

    I got mine with the soft case and four magazines for $649 online. None of my local area shops would order that package. Only the standard w/ two mags for the same cost or more.
    Zero complaints on mine after 1700+ rounds.
    Must be your grip style on the bite as you said.

    I had a "real" one with the bad trigger (mag safety), tiny military sights, and short tang. Looks like SA has fixed the ejection problems on the early ones, so this is now my favorite clone. Thanks for the excellent review.

    I was looking at getting the SA-35 for a while and then I found a great deal ok a FEG Hi Power clone and snagged it up. I will say that the 15 round mag looks to be a mec gar mag and those are solid hi power mags. I have a few of those and a few 13 round mags as well.

      The Hi-Power was designed to take a 15rd mag. They reduced the capacity to 13rds to reduce weight for the French trials. Why everyone kept using the 13rd mags, with the dimples to reduce capacity, is beyond me.
      The Mec-Gar 15rd mags will fit a standard Hi-Powers. It's the same design as the original 15rd. Fit flush. Argentina also offers a 15d mag without the dimples.

    When measuring trigger pull, the scale arm MUST be placed in the exact same position on the trigger at all times. Going lower or higher up and along the trigger, will give a different pull weight on the scale. This is due to the laws of physics with regard to movement arm length along the trigger from the crucible, which in the SA-35’s case is the trigger pivot point.

    Nice Hi Power. Truly very nice shooting guns. Despite the wonky trigger on mine (ended up with 5 altogether. Three in 9mm and two in 40S&W) it's actually one of the pistols I actually shoot halfway decent. The grip, the proportions, just the way it feels (for me) is near perfect. These 5 are all 1980ish vintage with three having the SFS trigger. Two or three of them Matt are marked Fredericksburg, VA which I thought was pretty cool also! Great vid once again!

    I handled the FN guns a few days ago and man..........I didn't want one but now I do BAD. They are fit TIGHT in a good way VERY smooth and the trigger is amazing....the tan one is more handsome than I thought it would be too. I'm eyeing the SA-35 at a local shop but the FN's down the road are so sweet. Hell I may get both........pick up the SA35 and put the FN in layaway. I was raised shooting my buddies dad's Browning N.A.M era high-power. I think it was the first 9mm I ever shot ....well no, I shot a tec9 first but still. The first actual serious pistol I fired was a high-power.

    Mine is bone stock... I found it to be the softest shooting 9 mm pistol, I've ever shot.
    In fairness, I have never shot a 1911 in 9 mm. I'm told they are extremely soft shooting also.
    I now understand the argument, by 9 mm guys, that the hi-power was JMB's best pistol design... I still disagree, but I can definitely say that they have a strong argument.
    I'm glad to see the "clone market" offering affordable options for entry into this amazing platform.

  • @dalekidd420
    @dalekidd420 3 місяці тому +4

    Honestly... any pistol designed and intended for serious "social" purposes SHOULD be sold with THREE magazines! If I'm buying a pistol for EDC or home defense, I NEED those spare mags. The gun companies need to quit effing around, and give us everything we need, up front, when we buy their product. I don't give a damn if they incorporate the cost into the pricing, but I DON'T want to have to screw around trying to source spare mags for a gun I may be needing to put into rotation NOW!

    • @gnosticnight
      @gnosticnight 3 місяці тому +6

      You opened up a real can of worms with that question. Springfield's 1911 has been American made for a number of years, since they moved production from Imbel of Brazil. They don't own a foundry, of course. I suspect they might use Cardinal in Rochelle, IL, not very far from Geneseo, IL, but that's pure speculation. As for the SA 35, the internet rumor is that everything is made in Turkey (Tisas keeps coming up), and is hand finished and assembled in Illinois. The gun does not look identical to a Tisas 1911, so if true, it's being made to SA specs. Last I heard, Springfield will neither confirm nor deny.
