  • On paper, the Capital One Venture X has been one of my favorite credit cards since it came out in November 2021. Now, it's time to see if I get accepted for the Venture X credit card.

One quick question. If I get 300 dollars travel credit and 100 on my anniversary that means that the first year I'll end up paying $95 dollars. Because if you would like to use it together you'll have to wait one year when the 300 dollars credit will also be available. Plus it is my understanding that you can accumulate the 100-anniversary points but if you don't use the 300 you'll lose them. Am I right?

The first year you also can earn the welcome bonus of 75,000. I think what you wrote about the $300 credit is true, you have to use it during the year, I don't think it'll accumulate. The 10,000 miles / $100+ would just be added to your total miles and you can use any time.

I was wondering if getting the card you need other cards with capital one. I have 2 already.

You don't need to have other Capital One cards to get the Venture X, but if you're already a good Capital One customer, it could help. Which Capital One cards do you have by the way?

Oof... A 28.24% APR on a $395 annual fee credit card. I know you said you definitely are not going to carry a balance on that card, but you should still definitely consider negotiating that down if and when as soon as possible. I just closed 2 of my own credit accounts because I had 25% + on them. Otherwise, congrats on the card man!

why close them? it doesnt hurt to keep them open if they have no annual fee and you pay in full.

@@ahmxddd I had the Amex BCP and the Capital One Walmart Card. My Amex has almost a 29% APR and the $95 Annual Fee and the Walmart Card was even worse with around a 32% APR. For me personally, both of those were pretty dangerous to keep open. It would have been fine if the Amex had been closer to 18-20%, I can live with that. However, if something happened and for some reason I had to take on credit card debt for a period of time, those cards would be the last ones I'd want to have that on. I severely regret getting the Amex BCP earlier on and should have waited until my credit score was built up A LOT more so that I can get the lowest APR.

Should never carry a balance lol

If you are carrying a balance then you already lose. The idea is to not carry a balance, so the APR is really irrelevant.
