Something underrated imo is the travel portal They usually suck and are overpriced, but Capital One has a nice UI and more importantly, price match So you are actually guaranteed that 10x or 5x back on what you buy. So you can actually tack up points on not just everyday purchases
The Capital One travel portal is for real! I’ve booked a trip and gotten $20 in credit from price drop. It’s a solid redemption rate. Great that you can buy in cash and pay the purchase off with points as well
@@TheRDGuaranteeIve found the Hotels are significantly more expensive than on their website or what other travel sites offer. For example The Opal Sands Resort in Clearwater Florida is more than $100 more expensive on the Capital One Travel site.
Price match is only good for 24 from the time you book your flight. The cheaper flight has to match exactly to get the match. Even then it is almost impossible to get paid by then because Capital One is dishonest.
Thank you so much for your video! Because of your explanation of the benefits, I went ahead and applied and was approved by the end of your video. I wish I had known about this 2 years ago, I did a lot of traveling.
That is awesome. First of all congratulations! Second of all, I think we all have a bit of FOMO after realizing what some credit cards can do for us. I know I did. Enjoy the new VX.
Hi, great video and at the optimal pace. (I really don't like youtubers that talk fast and loud). Don't change anything as it is very pleasant to listen to your tips and instructions.....You really have a talent for explaining things in a easy and a simple way... Thank you!!
The SavorOne and Venture X combo is going to have most people completely covered The dining and grocery store 3% is really good and the Venture X is your catch all card + has all the travel benefits you need. I still think the Venture X is the best travel card for the money so getting that locked down makes this a great duo.
It's up to you. I value the welcome bonuses that comes with starting a fresh application. Thats where you earn the vast vast majority of your points. However, the Venture X is a unique card that has such good value I wouldn't say it's an absolute necessity to grab the welcome bonus (compared to some other cards where if you're not getting a SUB the card is kind of weak.)
Cell phone insurance only works if you have a postpaid phone plan. Which is usually more than twice the prepaid plans. That's how they get you. You probably will pay much less if you purchase phone insurance separately and get better service. So it's worthless to me. I just use a Chase free card for my bill for the Insuramce
For the travel partners with Capital 1, do they have any airlines that fly domestically? I want to get one of the Capital 1 credit cards but only interested if the points go towards domestic flights and not international.
@TheRDGuarantee thank you for your response! I ended up settling for the CSP. Venture X would of been the perfect card for me if it focused more on domestic flights.
First of all, appreciate you watching! I'm not sure I have another video to direct you to but I'll take a stab at wording it differently. For example, if you have Capital One miles and go into the travel portal and use your miles to buy a hotel stay for a few nights, you don't earn any rewards on that transaction. Your miles are simply deducted from your account. However, if you go into the travel portal and buy that same hotel stay instead using cash, you'll earn 10X miles back on your purchase. Then, after that purchase shows up on your credit card statement you can go back and use the "Cover Travel Purchase" feature that I mentioned in the video to erase the purchase using miles. In the end, you used miles to cover the purchase in both scenarios, but in the 2nd scenario you're walking away with some extra miles from your initial purchase.
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video! I think you'll love the VX - I know I do. When you go to apply, if you feel like supporting the channel, it would be greatly appreciated if you used the following link. No pressure either way! rdguarantee.link/Capital-One-Venture-X
If you book in the portal using cash, which in this case means your card, then you will EARN five or 10 X miles for that purchase. Then you can erase the cost of that using some of the miles that you already have saved. If you decide to book using your miles in the portal, you won’t earn any rewards for those purchases
@@TheRDGuarantee thanks a lot for the explanation. I figured this was the case but got confused when you said cash. I think in the future capital one will probably fix this issue. What do you think? 🤔
Yeah those are great stats! It also depends on how many other cards you have. Sometimes capital one likes to favor people with fewer accounts. If you do decide to apply, it’d be greatly appreciated if you used the link in the description of the video! No pressure either way, just a free way to support the channel.
In the portal when you select a flight, rental car, or hotel it lets you choose between paying for the item with Capital One Miles or actual money. If you choose actual money and pay for the item with your Venture X, you'll get 5X-10X miles back on the purchase. Then, when that purchase settles on your credit card statement, you can go back into your Capital One account and "Cover The Travel Purchase" with Miles (1CPP) to remove it from your statement. So, in essence, you will have gotten 5-10X in rewards for the purchase (really great) but used existing Miles in your account to go back and erase the purchase so it didn't cost you a single cent!
@@jaxepticeye3649 you lose it unfortunetly, but the VX also comes with an anniversary credit which is valued at $100, or 10,000 points, and it can rollover every year.
Hey Collin - the Venture X will be treated separately from your Capital One Platinum card and you will likely need to apply for it as a new card. It's important that you do not close out your Platinum card! Keeping that credit history is VERY important to your credit score as a big factor in that is the average age of your credit profile. If you closed that out you would lose that and your score would drop. Additionally, the Venture X requires excellent credit, so I would only recommend applying if you've had your Platinum card for over a year or two and you have a credit score over 700. If not, it may be a good idea to continue building your credit. If you have that credit score and feel comfortable applying, we'd love it if you used our link and supported the channel! So wait… you’re telling me that all I need to do is pay for my phone bill with the VX and as long as I do, I don’t need apple care?!
Better not have tmobile though, they don't like credit cards

Don’t you have to pay transaction fee?
Beware that this will not extend your warranty, which means that they will not cover you if your phone is dead due to normal wear and tear or battery

Just pay regularly with your Venture X, thats how you "qualify" for coverage.

Cultivist is no longer free for 6 months
what is the credit card acceptance worldwide? is this better than Visa card?
This is a Visa Infinite card, so you'll get the same worldwide acceptance as all other Visa cards. So pretty good!
Lots of cards with no annual few that pay 2X on everything. Capital One has terrible customer service.
Going with a simple 2% or 2x card may be the better option for some!
How would the cell phone protection work if I have 4 phones on my phone bill?
They're all covered. However, I think you can only process 2 claims per year up to $800 per year in claimed value if there are accidents.

Nope. When I hit my Venture X welcome bonus, it gave me the rewards points as soon as I crossed the spend number.
