Schubert/Liszt Ave Maria is an unbelievable song. Perhaps the greatest classical song of all time. I feel like I'm on cloud nine listening to this. And Benjamin is one of the best to play it.
You have such long slender elegant yet powerful fingers
Bravo!
I don't think it's possible to play any better than this. Just wonderful.
Go check Marc Andre Hamelin
I just did. Beautiful beyond words, and with the score on the screen you can see just how difficult this arrangement is. Impossible for someone like me. We are all privileged to have the opportunity hear performances such as these.
Great talent, so modest. Love the combination of showing the musician and the Steinway at work!
A very rare talent and so modest. This is a very difficult transcription of which the listener is totally unaware, just breathing in the beauty and power of this twice divinely inspired creation of Schubert and Abbé Liszt!
Beautiful. As good as this piece gets.
What a pleasant thing to see when i cant sleep :)
I just saw this extraordinary young man play at The Meyerhoff, I had a front row seat, right in front of his Steinway…still on cloud nine! His playing is sublime! This one gives me chills, the good kind! ❤️
Aw, Benjamin that is/was exquisite. Thank you!
Превосходно. Я плачу.
Beautiful, like liquid gold
It's been a unique experience for me to see B.G. win Young Musician at 11 and then develop into the mature artist we now see & hear before us. I think he's wonderful.
Could anything be more lovely.
Pianiste parfait
So beautiful! Your hands are gorgeous
I had never thought much of Grosvenor before, but that all changed when I stumbled on his Liszt recordings. He has an ability to make Liszt sound grandiose and majestic, but not overbearing and overly virtuosic. One of the highlights for me is definitely his recording of Reminisces de Norma. I will definitely follow Grosnevor in the future, it seems he definitely is one of the musicians to look out for in the future.
so so beautiful music from heaven
Great as always. Benjamin and Yunchan are my favorite pianists.
Exquisite musicianship. Bravo.
He's amazing and a great musician
Excellent 👏 bravoooo!!!!
Just Beautiful. Enjoyed it very much. Thank you.
An exquisite musician. Looking forward to see him tomorrow in Gran Canaria.
Music at its finest. Beautiful rendition young man.
Love it!
Beautiful. Such a gorgeous, rich tone on that piano. Just lovely.
Its almost a bit like a Bosendorfer, but its just a really amazingly full and rich steinway.
Beautiful
Heard this version on spotify a few weeks back. Delighted to find a wonderfully shot video that pairs with it. Unbelievably beautiful work.
I AM ATHEIST, BUT I LOVE MUSIC WITH RELIGIOUS INSPIRATIONS, ESPECIALLY THIS.
Phenomenal performance! Amazing talent!
СПАСИБО!!!
Beautifully done, Benjamin.
Outstanding.
I know exactly where and what I was doing when I heard this beautiful rendition on the radio - "glad" to find it, if only to remember
Soooo beautiful!!! I could listen to this all day.
Maravilha! Grande pianista! Parabéns!
Buena dulce melodía alimenta él alma y nutre mi fortaleza
Bravo
Bravo! Thank you!
Well played
Lovely. We must remember that Liszt was being helpful and forgive the heavy burden he placed on Schubert's Lieder.
雪国
you mean for making his songs known and famous throughout europe? don`t forget that liszt lived in vienna at a time when schubert was still alive, meanwhile all those who started the schubert revival, mendelssohn and schumann being the most noted, became acquainted with schubert`s music long after his passing. and schubert was not unknown in the musical scene in vienna, after all he was one of only 6 people who had the honor of carrying beethoven`s coffin at the master`s burial, which was attended by tens of thousands of viennese people.
bravissimo
I really liked his dynamics with the melody. A lot of pianists voice it too loud.
Wonderful simplicity. Where is it filmed? It looks like a carpark but reminds me of a stripped-down, empty Barbican!
This performance is not lyrical, it is lumpy and is pulled about dynamically. Listen to Valentina Lisitsa, she has it nailed.
I have just followed your suggestion to watch / listen to Vl’s video playing this same piece.
I prefer Benjamin’s performance here in this video. There is no comparison ! He touched my soul. VL could not and I could not even finish listening to hers.
Matter of personal taste.
I just set “loop play” on this video, so that I can keep listening to this performance non-stop, sending me into sleep and when I wake up, his sound of this piece is still singing around my ears…..
