Interviewing The ILM Modeler Behind Sentinel Prime & Topspin, Shaun Stephenson

- In this episode of "Theorymus' Transformers Tribune," I had the pleasure of interviewing Shaun Stephenson, a former ILM 3D modeler who worked on Transformers: Dark of the Moon. He is most famous for modeling the traitorous Sentinel Prime, as well as the Autobot Wrecker, Topspin. Additionally, he crafted the new parts we see on Optimus Prime, (the abs and forearms), and modeled new elements for Bumblebee. He was also responsible for Optimus Prime's jetpack and armored weapons platform. Moreover, Mr. Stephenson designed the weapons for Crankcase and Crowbar, as well as the building that collapses in the film!

don’t know Mr Stephenson worked on the Force Unleashed games when he was still at LucasArts, some of my favorite Star Wars games from back then, awesome stuff to hear that but then shame he got laid off after production wrapped and while working on a top secret project with George Lucas which was in pre production for a long time. I’m going to assume this was maybe around the time Disney bought Star Wars in 2012?

Random thoughts about Dark of The Moon
1: why does Simmons say only 9 Autobots are being deported when there's a total of 11 counting Wheelie and Brains, why does he exclude the Minicons?
2: just how large is the Xantium and it's booster rockets?
The main ship itself does seem capable of holding at least 10 bots in Vehicle Mode but the booster rockets should be smaller yet The Wreckers mention that they were all hidden in the first booster rocket. So how did all 9 full size bots and 2 Minicons fit inside the rocket?
Video idea (if you want to): what if ratchet tricked lockdown by ratchet lying to lockdown of where prime was and managed to survive?

I still don't understand where do those triangle chest windows go during transformation of Sentinel Prime
Looking at original Rosenbauer Panther 6x6, it's obvious that the triangular chest windows are the parts located in front of the cab doors.

I'm not sure if you will see this, Mr. Stephenson, but I do have a question. Did you know Sentinel Prime was gonna be revealed as a traitor, and if you didn't know when modeling him, would you have changed elements of his character to foreshadow the reveal in the film?

Hi Luke. Yeah we did know that. Honestly, we didnt really have too much creative freedom as it's not our licence / IP /character so we would always need to follow the requests and guidance of the movie studio. Great question tho!
