Hi Daniel. Another impressive and very enjoyable video. I hope you are feeling better now. I have been in the same situation as you on a long trip once. It's not pleasant. You just have to pace yourself and keep in mind that tiredness and poor concentration are joined at the hip.
Thanks for taking me to a part of the Tambora Peninsula that I'm yet to visit. I've only been along the west side as far as Calabai and I've travelled the east side (from the south) as far as Piong. That beach at Kilo looks fantastic. I'd love to camp there.
I find your observation about local people and the frequency of their contact with bules on motorcycles to be at odds with my own experience garnered over many years. I have only come across three other foreigners on bikes in Sumbawa since 2008. It is a place you can have all to yourself. I find the locals to be very honest and friendly. Not very curious but always helpful about the road conditions that lay ahead.
Speaking of that, about how many kilometres of umpaved road are there between Hodo and Pantai Kilo? How many hours ride is it and how do you think the road would be in heavy rain. It looked to be very hard baked with not much mud present.
Re your physical condition, you have to banish those negative thoughts. Come on Daniel, you're just a youngster. I'm 75 and in Feb/Mar this year I did a 2500km ride from Kuta, Lombok to Waiterang Beach, 30km east of Maumere, and return. It was the height of the monsoon and a fantastic experience which I enjoyed immensely. Keep on riding Daniel. Your best years are ahead of you.

Thanks for your kind encouraging words Steven. I totally agree that the people I meet are always courteous, helpful and friendly. I guess a month in my own company is making me miss meaningful deep conversations and interactions with others.
The main road around the peninsula is more than manageable. The roughest path on the video was off the main road to the waterfall. I’m still pushing on, enjoying, and being grateful for every day. Cheers!

@jekyllsride Hi Daniel. I think in your situation you might consider camping less and spending more evenings in homestays/ peningapans. I'm not sure what your intentions are re the amount of time you want to spend in Sumbawa but I can tell you that you are unlikely to find much deep and meaningful conversations with the surfers who frequent Hu'u Beach via Dompu . But the ride there is really good and then there is a great trip along the "Road to Nowhere" east of Hu'u. You get great views of the coast.
Another spot worth visiting is Wadu Pa'a. It's on the west coast of Bima Bay and is the site of the furthest east evidence of Hindu-Buddhist settlement in Indonesia. It was a hermitage and you can see Buddha carvings, lingams and menus in a cliff by the sea. I've never met anyone else who's been there. To get there you turn left in the town of Sila. It is signposted "Dou Donggo* or "Soromandi" from memory.
The Dou Donggo consider themselves to be the "orang asli" of Sumbawa. Although nowadays they have mostly adopted Islam there are still some Christian Churches in the hills west of Bajo village. I believe the people were converted by Dutch missionaries in the late 19th century

Thanks for sharing your adventures - very motivating and inspiring. Glad I stumbled across your channel .... I will be coming to Indonesia in a couple of weeks and will be riding from Maumere in Flores back to Bali and your videos are giving me an idea of what to expect. I don't have a lot of experience off-tarmac and will be travelling by myself and am a little anxious. I am planning to ride around Tambora as well, when you say the main road was 'more than manageable", what was it like? Also the road that both you and Steve have taken in the South-west to Lanyuk, how difficult was it?

Hi Zen! First of all, thanks for watching. I’m glad you’re enjoying the ride. With regards to both the ride around Tambora and the ride to Lunyuk on the south west coast, I reckon both can easily be ridden by riders with little or no experience. You will occasionally come across pot holes, or unpaved sections, so I recommend riding slowly to avoid surprises but other than that, you should be fine.
