Having been to Indonesia twice I'd say you had a very typical Indonesian experience (outside of the MotoGP). AND there is nothing wrong with hiring a car driver or motorbike driver on the fly, to take you around - I've done it dozens of times in SE Asia with no problems what-so-ever. Great video!
i was about to say the same thing i have traveled to a lot of SE Asia as well in early 2000s and a lot of it was by a local hired driver. sometimes its a car/motorbike/moped hell one of the local hire guys i took in the Thailand was a Tuk-tuk. Most of these people are great and friendly but you know always be careful there are scammers everywhere.
Please for foreigner who watch this video, we indonesian people DO NOT RECOMMEND you to drive motorcycle/scooter while Vlogging, its Dangerous, please be safe while driving, other than that ENJOY INDONESIA, Thanks.
@meargod I'll also add to never rent any vehicle as a tourist, just use public transport like taxi from BlueBird or privately owned taxi like Go-jek make sure you pay digital. I said this to keep you from other potential scammers. If they asked you to give them a your passport, I suggest you find another place because when you return the vehicle they'll find any minor scratches and force you to pay for the damages, at this time you wanna just go back home so you have to pay no matter what. I have never seen this happen in Indonesia, India is the culprit here. if you have no other options, then I highly suggest you take a video before you leave with the bike. Make sure you cover all the details in depth on the crevices.

We used to have direct flights to Lombok from Australia. Hopefully they will come back at some stage, I think the Indonesian government is keen to spread tourism beyond Bali, hence things like the MotoGP in Lombok.
Yeah. I'm currently watching Kristian Hansen, a Danish man who's traveling Indonesia only by himself and his motorcycle. Based from what I've watched, it seems like slowly but surely there are more and more tourist destinations outside of Bali that starting to get more attention. Like Sulawesi and Sumatra really want to expand their tourism.

I recommend you switch around resorts to get the most out of your vacation, especially in Lombok. It's a missed opportunity to not hike up Mountain Rinjani and camp for a night near the peak. A view of a volcano inside a volcano with a lake surrounding it as the clouds disperse while the sun is slowly rising behind your back at 3000mdpl is something you only get in a fantasy book. Granted, you gonna need to spend at least a few hundred more per person and hike for 2-5 days, it's not a popular destination for the average tourist.
You should get Gojek while in Indonesia rather than taking random car. They would guarantee your price, and protect you. Also you should find Pertamina pumps for gas. Pertamina is our local pump. Not Rupee, but Rupiah bro.. Happy holiday in my country
Thanks! I'm really enjoying it.
600 k dang as an indonesian that ride is expensive af idk is that price gauging or because its a tourist region

If you come to Indonesia make sure to install gojek application for transportation (car or motorcycle )
This looks exciting....buuuuttt I do get the beginning of the movie The Beach, vibes 😂😂
What a nice vlog, Dude...
Welcome 2 INDONESIA
❤👍🏼
Thanks! I had a great time.
been to indonesia 2,5 months this year and the area around the motogp track was the worst of all... mafia and scammers everywhere, even worse than anywhere else in south east asia
so you have been lucky with that cash payment
I am sorry for what you experienced earlier, I apologize if you were uncomfortable when visiting Indonesia,🙏
@octavvarrd2006 it was just around kuta on lombok, anywhere else i had a great experience
It They Tradition Call Pungli,You Very Lucky Did Not Meet Maling,😂😂 Beautiful Country Fill With Many Pungli,And It Worst Nightmare For Me From Brunei Because I Meet
Maling
Life it is what it is, as long as you enjoy it. Lombok better than Bali for vacant.
Government along with investors are still struggling in improving the infrastructure, the tribune might not as great as other races but the view around is amazing tho
I think it's still a great experience!
@DownieLive glad to hear you enjoyed it. Next time we would love to hear more from you around Indonesia, The eastern part is worth exploring. like raja Ampat or Labuan Bajo.
njir sok tau pdhal tribun philip island nya australia aja lbih parah assen belanda sachsenring jerman motegi jepang dll buanyak gk beda jauh tribunnya kek mandalika, lu pasti taunya tribun sirkuit cuma sepang doang 😂
sirkuit" f1 malahan yg pertama banyak ngadopsi tribun semi permanen kaya mandalika terutama di street circuit contoh nya monaco singapore dan baku itu modelnya sama kaya mandalika itu udh standar internasional soo tribun semi bgitu bukan brarti not good ya toh gk ada bedanya duduk di tribun beton ala sepang sama duduk di tribun semi ala mandalika bedanya apa sih gak ada kursinya jga kurlebih sama kecuali kursi nya sofa baru beda

Welcome to our Country, slight correction our currency called Rupee-AHH with an AHH in the end :)
Mandalika International Street Circuit is a motorcycle racing track located in the Mandalika resort area on Lombok island, part of the West Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia

Such a great trip! I like it! 🙂
I can tell you about a more budget friendly MotoGP: Riding Scooty Activa in Goa. There’s no start and no finish. Only chill vibes.
(Jk it’s great to tune into your adventures)
0:25 BRB getting pink banknotes because they look awesome
Welcome to Indonesia brother 🎉🎉
Thank you!
I was concerned for a moment about going to a hotel that only takes cash and is located over an hour out of town down a dirt road - it all sounds pretty sketchy. But I was glad to see it all turned out great - nice suite, nice people.
Most guests pay by bank transfers rather than physical currency 😂
Actually, there are alot private or luxury resort in Asia located in a remote area with limited access road i.e. Manjaga bay, Amanwana, and others.
Looks like the spot Leo stayed before he went to "The Beach"!
given how the staff was filming the cash payment, what you're spending is BIG DOLLARS for the locals. i had similar experiences in thailand, but even moreso in south africa. you can even see their frustration when parking near the places where vacationers are going, but locals are too. (for anyone watching that isn't Downie :)
