- The Polara has been a standout in the Guild solid body lineup since the early 1970s. From hard hitting riffs by Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil to rock tones from Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein, the Polara is a versatile instrument with a vibe all its own.
The Polara Deluxe offers an upgraded trim package to the base Polara model, delivering classic aesthetics that recall 1970s design elements with modern enhancements. Where the base Polara model is stripped down, the Polara Deluxe is elevated-including a bound Rosewood fingerboard with block inlays, Guild Peak and Chesterfield headstock inlays, Guild compensated stopbar tailpiece, and color options ranging from classic transparent to modern metallic.
Hot-wound HB-2+ pickups with Alnico V magnets are featured on the Polara Deluxe, bringing an assortment of boutique quality tones with loads of character and voice. The Polara Deluxe has traditional Guild pickup covers featuring Guild’s classic dual rail design, with 2x volume, 2x tone controls and push/pull coil splitting for maximum tonal variety.
For those keen to the original 1970s look, a transparent Cherry Red finish over the Mahogany body never disappoints. A Vintage Sunburst option brings some of Guild’s hollow body aesthetics to this updated set neck solidbody, with a hand sprayed burst enhancing the body, neck and headstock. The Canyon Dusk metallic finish, one of Guild’s most popular new finishes, pairs perfectly with the nickel hardware and Rosewood fingerboard.

I've always been a fan of Guild and the Polara has long been a favorite. RJ does an absolutely superb demo, as always. You can hear what a guitar like this can do in the right hands.
Guaranteed high end demo. RJ kicks @ss.
Those pickups sound hotter than the original HB-1 pickups. They still sound good but different.
Absolutely deadly mon.. incredibly cool funky approach.. dig the style.. honestly Thank you 4 the influence n inspirational vids.. ur playing is 2nd to none.. 1 of the craftiest players on youtube. Imo.. that guitar looks n sounds great as well
For my first ever Guild, I went for the Kim Thayil signature Polara.
Good call. I got the same model, but I had to swap the nut on mine. Otherwise, a great guitar.
@@Zoso981 Enjoying it. Probably going to double up and grab the Vintage White one too.
@@Lean6 I considered that too, but the new Polara Deluxe looks really tempting. Different pickups with coil splitting.
@@Zoso981 The HB-2 pickups are standard sized. I like that in case I want to change them out.
Welp. No need to watch any other demos of these guitars! Holy smokes. 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Yes RJ pretty much nailed it as he always does!!
Just dig ur approach n style.. definitely bluesrock infused.. gotta say I appreciate the influence n inspiration.. u r just so incredibly tasteful n crafty.. a new tickle to the ears...Thanks much... oh.. n the guitarzan sounds great as well
Such a cool bridge design on this Guild.
RJ makes it look so easy. Definitely getting one of these in Canyon Dusk!!
I've been meticulously researching for an SG to replace my 2000 SG Special I lost to an unscrupulous pawn shop lady a few years ago. The Polara came up repeatedly during my investigation. I own a Guild A-150 archtop which I am completely in love with for jazz work, so I figured "why not?"
I have a cherry red Deluxe on order.
I ordered the vintage deluxe model I figured if it's half as good as my Bluesbird it will be a winner
Great demo. Think one of these in Guild Polara Deluxes in Canyon Dusk will be my guitar purchase next year. The one type of guitar I'm missing is a solid body humbucker than can smash it for hard rock/fuzz/psych/stoner/doom/metal tones. Was thinking Sire L7, but never been the biggest fan of the Les Paul aesthetics. The L7 sounds a more bright, plucky, attacking in the demos. This seems to have a fuller/smoother tone. More my style. Your bridge demos had a really nice singing, throaty tone. Easy to imagine Ozzy snarling over these tones.
RJ Rocks!!
Guild New HB2 pickups are made with alnico V I'm in!
Id rather have the old phase switch instead of coil splitting.
The out of phase was funky.
I am SO close to pulling the trigger on one of these. My only complaint/apprehension is that it does not come with at least a soft case. That would add at least another $100+. 😕
Calido Guitars, $60 for the gig bag, $99 for the upgrade gig bag. Free shipping. I've bought two guitars there and they a great to work with. Probably get one of these someday. Sounds great
Good looking guitar.. My budget friendly ( 140 $ ) Martin Lee sg100 , should arrive today.
Great demo! How are the pickups in the Deluxe compared to the Kim Thayil signature version? Thanks!
They're Alnico 5, the Thayil pickups are Alnico 2, I believe. So, they're gonna be a bit hotter
2 weeks buddy. Sunburst. Thanks.
I finally pulled the trigger on the Guild Polara Deluxe Canyon Dusk- should be in my hands by the 17th of May. I might come back with an update.
And.......?
@@PaulBradley-qi9ss You want to know my review of it?
@@albertmarkethinkpr1325no he wanted to know the current price of a dozen eggs
YES the guitar
@@GlennJimenez Great instrument, you get a lot of bang for your buck. It's an absolute hard rock machine but you can play anything you want with it. Mine came flawless out of the box, only needed the string heit adjusted and to add a bit of relief in the neck. I would rate it 7.5/10.
Why not 10/10?@@albertmarkethinkpr1325
Is there a switch to change the colors or is it on a timer? Can you have different colors for the I - IV - V chords?
Always loved this guitar but my poor wallet says You CAN'T!!! Amazing sg
Regarding the Canyon Dusk finish. I can't figure out what color it is! lol. Sometimes it looks more purple/lilac and other times more blue or grey. What do you all see it as?
I just got one a few days go. It is a little less purple than it ends up looking in photos on some screens. It is more of a purplish cool gray metal flake color. It's noticeably purple but subtle. Looks good.
I meant to say stop tail 😂
They been using that type of stop tail for many years. I have a 1978 Guild S300 AD with that same Stop Tail
