Japan is my favourite place on the planet. I found eating out a challenge.. I cant read much kanji and my language skills are super basic.. But everyone was so lovely and helpful. I'm ready for trip #4 after seeing your video!
That peach looks incredible 😍 my husband is Japanese and says people in Japan rarely eat the skin and was truly shocked when he saw me casually biting into one
But wait I want to know what else you did in Japan haha. I love hearing you speak Japanese with your mom haha. I feel so weird saying that because I always feel self conscious about my Viet with my family, but I totally get it now XD It's like seeing a different side to you
Wow!!! I eat mostly vegan, like 98%, and this was so awesome to watch. I love how you can pretty much easily be vegan in Japan. All of these foods I sort of eat already- except for the specialties of course, like that tofu cream!!!
saute the okra before eating directly 🤪. i usually eat okra after oil frying it with a lil bit of coconut shreds and peanuts and eat it with rice. its yummy!!
Did you ever find that tofu cream in Canada???? Curious, looks so good

Great video! Im soon going to Japan and I'm curious how to find vegan food, especially if their labels only are in japanese. But its going to be amazing to explore the country!
Japanese sweet potatoes, kabocha squash, baguettes, shiitake mushrooms, apples, natto, tofu that tastes like mochi, vegan sushi, and eggplant!!!!! 🍎🍆🍠🥖 Those are the BEST!!!! You make me want to go back to Japan A-FREAKING-SAP! I wish I got to try the vegan ice cream and the cream tofu. There are so many wonderful vegan restaurants there that I still dream of till this day!
What store did u get the tofu cream and apple jam from? I’m going to Japan probably next year and I wanna try that. Also where did u get the baguette 🥖 from?
What do you mean by fussy vegan lol??? Depending on how long you stay in Japan, I'd recommend hostels. It'll be the cheapest form of accommodation and hostels in Japan are a bit more private than what you would find in most countries. There are a bunch of free things you can do in Japan like walking tours and some museums have free admissions on certain days. The Imperial Palace East Garden is located in Tokyo and is free all year round. There are also some activities you can do for less than $10.00 like going to a botanical garden or an onsen. Some onsens don't allow tattoos, so be sure to check if they do if you end up going to one. That's just a quick sum of what you may find in Japan that is affordable. Hope that helps!
It really depends on what you like to eat. Fruits can be really expensive, bananas and apples being the most affordable. But tofu and other soy products are really affordable. The grocery store that was close to my apartment when I lived in Tokyo had a block of tofu for like 30 cents each. (This is on the cheaper end) Greens and other veggies I would say are similar in price to the USA and Canada. They don't have many mock meat options, so you'd be saving more money eating a whole foods diet. The vegan instant ramen is more expensive than non-vegan version but can only be found in certain convenient stores like Natural Lawsons. Hope that helps at all. I lived in Tokyo for 3 months on a low budget and I did just fine.
How long do you cook them in the microwave? These Japanese potatoes come from Egypt or Morocco here in France and they are huge, I usually steam them but microwave seems like a quick clean method
were you not able to find vegan sushi? or make a vegan curry at home? altho each to their own, I guess personally I wouldn't be able to have too many fruit sugars/sweet things since they give me the ick after a while
I love all the stuff you recommend. My next travel to Japan I will make sure I taste all of that stuff. I really appreciate this video. Thank you so much. You seem to enjoy the sweet potato as much as I do hahaha😋
I live in Tokyo and I’m trying to figure it out how to be vegan because meat, milk egg are basically everywhere and for example in conbini or most of supermarket there is nothing non vegan.. so you have to be careful and translate every ingredient! It’s so difficult and a challenge...Also I’m not good at cooking which make everything more difficult, so I guess this is the right moment to learning how to cook so I don’t need to buy food outside everytime
Japan seems like they understand the power of whole foods. Everything looked really good, made my mouth water even more on my fast. You cut your apples? You making fruit bowels? If not, you're a heathen!
Cream tofu, is it available in 7-11 or any convenience stores? Or only special stores? Thanks. I need all the vegan help I can get when I go there. Great video. So much going on. You disnt skimp out on details
surya krish tofu is soybean curd which is very high in protein. it comes in a range of textures eg firm or silken. it doesn’t have much taste but can be flavoured very easily
@straberryshinigami15 It's a fermented soybean so basically vegan. You should be careful with the sauce that comes with because sometimes it contains fish broth. You can just add soy sauce instead and that will be fine.

Fermented soybean. It's really healthy. It tastes really bad if you're not used to it, it's more of an acquired taste.

If you’re gonna be a vegan in Japan, better say goodbye to sushi, wagyu beef, eel, and plump scallops.
