So glad that she was safe from being murdered which is heartbreaking that we still have kill shelter. Thank you for adopting. Thank you for not giving up on the one dog with all of his issues. I'm so happy that he's with you and you make him feel safe and you're working through his issues. And they found their loving forever home.
Blame the people who abandoned them.
Plus many shelters have limited space and even less financial resources.
What needs to be done, is,convincing more people to adopt animals from those shelters.
Thank you adopting him. Owners sometimes would only want the dogs when they are cute but once they encountered problems they would leave them in the shelter. Dogs have feelings and they know when they are being abandone.

I used to believe that euthanasia is murder too. After volunteering and fostering for years now, I understand why it's done. The people who work at kill shelters do everything they can to save as many as possible. They take in abandoned, neglected, abused, and unwanted animals. Give them vet care and food. That's one thing I can say is that they won't be cold or starving..
Until you've worked in the animal rescue community it's easy to call it murder and blame kill shelters but the fault is with the people who want to breed their pets or refuse to fix them. There are just so many and not enough resources to go around.
Caddo Parish Animal Services is the big shelter in my area. They spend endless hours networking dogs to get pulled. But They are desperate for donations. Rescues come in and pull dogs on the euthanasia list but not all can be saved. So each dog that is euthanized receives their own name and a big meal then lots of love. That's something that I worked to establish there. Because every dog and cat deserves a name.
Out of respect for the people who do their best to give these animals a good life.. please don't call it "murder". And if you want to be angry with someone... blame the people who brought the animals in this world and making others deal with their mistakes.
This owner understands everything important in life. These two pups could not be luckier. To be understood, like her Gus, is such a gift for any sweet soul. What funny, personable and adorable dogs!
I wish more people realised that some rescue animals just need time & patience to show their true personalities. My 2 cats were terrified of everyone when I met them at the rescue charity. The people looking after them explained they weren’t at all aggressive, they just wanted to hide from the world. The thought of them being overlooked was heartbreaking so I adopted them & just followed the advice from the rescue. Took a little time but once they realised they were somewhere safe they both did a complete 180 & became the sweetest, most loving cats anyone could wish for. 13 years on & they’re still my constant shadows who will even go to my visitors for some attention. Seeing a scared, shutdown rescue animal learn to trust & love is one of the best feelings in the world.

I adopted a “vicious” pittie off of death row. Had to sign a waiver to get her because she “shouldn’t be adopted out.” Turns out she loves everyone-big dogs, little dogs, cats, kids, adults. She was simply terrified in the shelter.
I adopted two JackChis (siblings) from my local, overcrowded, city shelter when they were both one year old. They were bonded and the shelter was overcrowded (around 500 dogs) and having trouble finding someone to adopt them together. They were super hyper and TERRIFIED and had so much separation anxiety that they destroyed my couch the first day I went back to work. Now they are the calmest, happiest, sweetest snugglers in the world. My kids and I are SO LUCKY to have these two sweet dogs. Thank you to everyone who adopts instead of shops! 🐾🐩🐕🦺🐕🐾
Our family adopted a cat called penny. She didn't come out for 2 weeks as we were strangers but then one day just this cat came out to say hi. You could tell she was still scared but was brave enough to come to say hi. She was a good cat.
@@Oddballkane not gonna lie, the first time Charlie (the slightly braver of my 2 cats) jumped up onto the sofa & climbed onto my lap for some head scratches, I had a little cry! I was just so happy that he felt safe & trusted me enough to do that. His brother took another couple of months to come to me for some pets but once he did it was like someone had flicked a switch & he became a serious cuddle monster. The lovely thing was I became friends with the woman from the rescue so she got to see them change over time. Even after all these years she still can’t believe how much my boys have transformed.

@@lisabelle7553 Some people do the best they can by surrendering their pets to shelters. I couldn't do it, and it must be extremely difficult for those who have no other choice. Then there are those who think of animals as disposable after the novelty wears off or when they find another toy. They're heartless.

The woman is so wonderful. Best shot in this was the really happy face on one of the dogs. I love the way the first dog she saved, Lady, worked to make the second dog feel comfortable. Hearing stories like this helps lessen the anxiety of hearing the hate and rancor of the news.

So many people don't give newly adopted dogs time to decompress and they end up right back at the shelter. Thank you for saving Lady and especially Gus when it didn't prove to be easy right away. Most people want everything easy and would just give up. Our rescue came to us as a foster the day she was scheduled to be euthanized. She was full of anxiety and didn't like our first dog at all, but with time, patience and love she is now living out her senior years loving and being loved (foster fail) as a happy and adjusted member of our family.
Animals really are the best thing ever for our well being, let's give them the love and respect they deserve.

What a wonderful woman! I love people who love animals, and so much of what she said is exactly the way I feel about my adopted dog. She is my heart ❤️, my best friend and my constant companion. I'm so glad she saved the first dog from being killed. I can't even wrap my head around putting a perfectly healthy dog to death, or giving a dog away simply because you don't want them anymore. Dogs have feelings and emotions, not to mention the abundance of love they have inside them. They just want to be loved and return love so unconditionally! What a great lady she is. I never thought of rescue dogs in the words she used. Those dogs had families that THEY loved, and they were brought to the shelter and by doing that saying I don’t want you any more. Breaks my heart. I will hug my rescue dog a tighter tonight.

It's the best thing ever to see dogs who have been let down by their previous owners find happiness again and feel loved. Time and decompression is so important. Too many dogs are taken back within days because 'things are not working out' It can take months for these dogs whose hearts have been broken to trust again. There are many dogs like Gus. I have one. There is a backstory to every shelter return or drop off. Despite long and good intentioned efforts by families, some dogs don’t make progress. It’s so nice to see a dog like Gus change. If it weren’t for his new owner’s good will and Lady’s unusual sense of emotional altruism, Gus wouldn’t trust anyone. Trust is foremost in transforming a dog. Great ending. ❤🐕

GOD! When you look at those two happy, happy faces it just hits you that they might have been lost in the system. Maybe put down, who knows? Frightening to think about, but the blessings they have in their life now make me so happy for them.
