Everytime I hear this track, I recall the radio DJ in the UK who nearly got fired from his job. He was late for work because the police had stopped the traffic on the motorway, because some guy was threatening to leap from the motorway bridge. He said he hoped the guy was happy he’d messed everyone’s day up, and this song was for him, and yeah... he played “jump”. 😮

Because it actually took a degree of talent. Nowadays they just find a pretty face and let computers do the rest of the work. Not saying no musicians today are talented but the standard was much higher back in the 80's

We covered Jump! in my former band Second Heat back in 1989, using a Juno 106. and later MIDIed to an U20 when that came out :) I don't recall any of the lower voice on the pre-chorus, as it's inaudible on the record...pretty awesome to hear what it really was!. We went for the higher voicing instead, that you let out. as I arranged a guitar part in the lower register. I had to come up with guitar parts for the rest of the song, as only the solo and ending are present in the mix. Also, the keys behind the guitar solo are new to me, our Keys-man played Root 5th chords in sync with the bass guitar. However, listening to newer live versions now, by Van Halen, we weren't that far from the truth...

I don’t know if you’re kidding but yea it was cool the day he premiered it. If you really want the sound Arturia actually launched the Ob-Xa on the same day so if you want to get the synth it’s on their site. You can get the demo like me if you’re broke. Demo or paid version you’re gonna get the Jump preset. You can also buy it if you have some spare moola $$ but when you open the synth it’s the first preset believe it or not go ahead and check it out www.arturia.com/products/analog-classics/ob-xa-v/overview

You might wanna have a look at OB-Xd - which is free to use - at www.discodsp.com/obxd/
It's of course debatable if it sounds 90/95/100% like the original or better/worse than Arturias, but in my opinion it is excellent.
