    This lesson is on the first movement of the Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven. "Moonlight Sonata" refers to Sonata No. 14. The original key is c-sharp minor but for this arrangement, I transposed it to the key of A minor.
    This movement is composed in a quasi Sonata form, which I explain in the tutorial.
    One of my favorite movies is Immortal Beloved, a movie about the life/love life of Beethoven. Probably my favorite scene from the movie is when he lays his head on the piano and plays this movement. You can see a clip of it here:

    Beethoven noticed hearing loss at age 28, and did not entirely lose his hearing until he was ~45; so around the time he composed this piece he still had good hearing.

      @@snorungar70 idk why you're so mad lol. It's well documented, from Beethoven's own words, that he started noticing hearing issues at 28, and moonlight sonata was published around ~1801, when he was around 31. If he wasn't 'fully deaf' until 46, then it's not unreasonable to say he had hearing while composing this piece.

    Put your capo down on the 4th frat. You will change from A Minor to C# Major, which is the exact key the Moonlight Sonata is in.
    (For those not familiar with capo, just put it there, and continue using this Tab relative to it, not changing anything)

Ojos de la niña diciendo alborotada,!! La veo ,la veo la veo !!que linda es la luna ,según la propia leyenda así compuso el gran músico la sonata ( claro de luna)yo dudo que. Sea solamente leyenda debe existir algo más real que eso.

    Being a pianist & guitarist, BEETHOVEN is my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE CLASSICAL MASTER. Sounds nice on guitar, but you don’t get that ‘booming’ effect the piano gives it. It's insane how we transposed it almost identically, with a lot of similar sacrifices. I was curious how someone else would have transposed it. I transcribed this 21 years ago (time flies) and yah, Am must be an obvious transposition choice but still, a lot of similarities still. If I can suggest anything (didn't watch it all yet), near @ 17:35, I add the the G# on the 6th string to keep (from piano) that descending B -> A -> G#, which isn't really hard since you only fret two 7's (meas. 26) and switch the G# down an octave.
    One thing that I really appreciated from your video is that A7/C# (meas. 18) which I don't articulate well half the time by fingering that x-3-x-5-4-2 but using your barré trick on 2nd fret makes it so much easier!
    p.s.: Immortal Beloved, that specific scene you mention, I'd rewind it so many times on VHS back then and I'd get goosebumps.

    • @RobertLunn
      @RobertLunn  3 роки тому +2

      This one was a tough transcription because Beethoven was such a master of the piano and how do you do that on guitar?

    Well this is awesome, it's trickier than it seems.
    I took the liberty to change the fingering in bar 10, i'm switching the chord position in the second repetition to try not to leave a blank in the sustain. It's also easier for me to transition to bar 11.
    Thank you sir!

      It is tricky and that particular measure is tricky. I've always found it tough to make arrangements of piano pieces. Good luck!

    This is good. I can tell you’re a very knowledgeable musician but as a musician that plays entirely intuitively I can tell you it doesn’t need to be quiet as complicated as how you’re doing it and you can play notes on the fretboard simultaneously with both hands. There are tricks.
