My son and I played when this game was called Rogue Trader and tired of GW's crap over the years and quit with 5th Edition around 2010ish. This version has brought us back. Your channel is a breath of fresh air: no screaming, I can understand what you're saying easily, you're not trying to sell me something, it's more like two friends getting together for a fun gaming afternoon. Thank You and Great Job Gentlemen!!!
Some small rules hiccups I noticed to help out for next time! 19:17 - frag grenades have blast. They should be D3+1 each, not D3 each, because they fired against 5 or more models (all weapons fire at the same time). 33:40 - You can only command reroll damage for one of the warp blast attacks here, not both (it's not a single attack for 2D6+2 damage, it's two different D6+1 attacks). 1:02:42 - The take cover order improves the save characteristic by 1 (ie. the value on the datasheet). It doesn't improve the saving throw roll by 1. It's a subtle but importantant distinction here as technically it does stack with being in cover. It's the same as +1 BS vs +1 to hit.
At 24:23 Field ordinace battery have leatal hits due to Combined Regiment Rule and susteined hit due to datasheet abilities. one die are 6....so Guardplayer miss 1 hit roll and 1 autowound. At 29:13 Broodlord inflict 2 Wounds and 3 Devastating Wounds ( not MORTAL wounds) so only Five Guardmens dies. Any wounds make 2 Damage each at one guardman At 33:17 You cannot roll 2 d6 for Damage. COMMAND RE-ROLL" allows you to reroll a single damage roll, not two damage rolls from different weapons.
43:40 correct me if i am wrong, but i believe using expert bombadiers was useless here. No -1 because scout sentinal and +1 from heavy means the +1 from the strat is wasted.
10th edition is all about keeping hidden as much as possible and scoring those secondaries. Standing out in the open and pushing is a recipe for disaster.
what a great game, it looked hopeless one way then the other! really well put together as a report too, you captured all the important things, ive been into warhammer since about 1987 but i havent played a game of 40k since about 1994, so i dont know the rules at all but i felt like i knew everything that was going on without it all being too technical. loved it, gonna go check out the other vids on the channel, cheers.
@@mkntravelsmulti-charge requires you to succeed on all targets or it fails. Personally I would have liked to see a command re-roll when the charged failed
Great report guys, great paint work and terrain and kept it in a reasonable time, and clear explanations and narrative. Perfect, looking forward to the next 👍
Always glad to have you fellas back! The models and table looks so great, I started watching Jack Ryan while painting my new DKK Guard army, and you guys threw a game better than aeason3 of that show! Congrats on the addition to your family also, and For the Emperor! (Texas Guard!)
1:02:00 or so. What was the inspiring thing talked? Looks like it was shooting phase so presumably not the ignore battleshock stratagem from core book as that's only on battleshock phase? (so for example can't be used to negate shadow in the warp test nor any unit hit must take battleshock test rules)
Love the quality battle report as always. One thing I'd mention is that the lighting appears to have changed? There seems to be a lot more blur which can make it difficult to see things across the board sometimes.
1:36 you have to be careful with cover. Not being fully visible doesn't inherently give you benefit of cover. Like, pipes/barricades only give cover to infantry. Also 8:54 scout moves happen before the 1st battle round (in step 8), so you would determine 1st/2nd, then scout move (1st moving first if both players have scout), then the first battle round begins.
Awesome battrep guys! Love seeing some Starship Troopers themes fun 😍 Only question I have towards the end of the match. I thought models were not allowed to end a move on top of a terrain token because it is considered a “structure” if you will. So does that mean the trygon would’ve had to charge around to get in engagement range of the field guns? That said the trygon I’m pretty sure wouldn’t be legally able to stand on the connex boxes either because the base has to be fully flushed on whatever terrain it is sat upon.
Thank you! I was under the impression only certain types of terrain could not be moved onto. We had both agreed we could move onto the tanks, but I will have to go over the terrain rules again before the next game.
@@SliderGames no worries brother Not tryna knit pick just making sure I’m not messed up on my interpretation on it. But at the end of the day if both players agree that’s good enough for me 🤙🏽 Keep it going fellas y’all make this Uber enjoyable to watch!
Thank you! The MDF terrain (which is all of the platforms and that stuff) is now made by a company called Tymeagain. The resin stuff (pipes, vats, and some of the containers) is from Gamemat.eu.
I would check out @CadianSergeantSteel here on UA-cam for information specifically for Astra Militarum. As far as general tips for starting out go, I would recommend buying units and models you think are cool because they will always be cool even when the rules might not make them the greatest unit in the game. I have also found I am much more likely to build and paint models I am interested in rather than models I got just because they are "good." If you want to play as an established Regiment that is great, but don't be afraid to throw together your own paint scheme and make up your own Regiment. One of my favorite parts of the hobby is coming up with my own Septs, Chapters, or whatever, and making up their backstories and histories. Welcome to the hobby!

Imperial Guard player saw danger and immediately turned into a star wars alarm sound at 28:01
My lord this is too funny.
I was typing this out and trying to timestamp this exact thing! Amazing! 🎉
That was such a good battle report. There were a bunch of close and clutch moments. Keep up the good work. Please more Guard!
Thank you! It was a very fun. The Guard will return!

Good catches! I definitely should not have rerolled both of those.

That man, seen him before, and he always has the wildest Guard lists; and they always look phenomenal. The effects on the flamethrowers, very nice.
His Guard are totally amazing. All the little details he gets on there are crazy.

Great video. Well presented with rules explained. Great painting on the armies too!
Thank you!
Welcome back and congratulations. I think you will love 10th Ed.
Thank you! I really enjoyed this first game. I am definitely liking the changes.
It's like watching an American Winters. Great batrep gentlemen.
Thank you! WintersSEO is who inspired me to start my channel.
@@SliderGames it would be great to see battrep head2head at some point.
I would love to do that! It might be a while before my channel is big enough for him to consider something like that.
NIcely done. I watched the whole thing from start to finish. Armies were well-painted. A pleasure to watch.
Genestealers are 2 wounds in this edition.
Thanks for watching! And, yes, I totally missed they had two wounds. Knowing that would have been helpful.
- Genestealers have 2 wounds each.
- You still could have charged that scout sentinel, you are allowed to multicharge
Wow. I totally missed genestealers having two wounds. Thanks!
No worries mate. Again, great show :)

Great looking guard list.
Great game! Congratulations on the new addition to your family. I don’t think Officers/Commissars can’t come back with the squad with reinforcements
Thank you! The squad that came in with the Commissar was from strategic reserves and not the unit that was revived with Reinforcements.

10th seems a new breed, hope you enjoy.
Thank you! So far so good for 10th. I like it a lot after one game.
If you spend a CP to reroll a damage dice, then you don't get to reroll both of them, because they were separate attacks.
Yep, it totally slipped my mind at the time.
Very nice batrep, loved the vibe you guys have!
Thank you! We enjoy playing.
Welcome back! A great batrep to kick off 10th edition.

It is actually the new camera. The lighting hasn't changed. I am going to have to do some work before the next video to work out the kinks.
that terrain is awesome
Thank you!
so are the army paint jobs and the players themselves 🤣

Also, 10:33 scout sentinels have to be within 18" of the enemy model to use their spotting ability, not just visible anywhere.
Yeah, the scout move was after first player was determined, and the sentinels were both marking things within 18."
Maybe I missed something but why didn't Sarge use the grenade or tank shock strats? On my table Guard are using that all the time to great effect!
I am not familiar enough with Guard stratagems to answer that. Maybe he will stop by and provide an explanation.
Top one!
Really enjoyed this lads. I like your format for filming the bat rep. Flower nicely 😊

Personal Opinion Warning, read at your own peril:
Make it 40-45min battle report and you've got winner level content!!!
Great feedback! I do try to keep them to an hour, but the last several videos went a bit long long. Thank you!
Keep at it, the charisma is right up my alley!!

I mean, its not Play on Tabletop but it'll do. haha love the terrain good BR.
Thank you! Our budget is pretty limited at this point. Haha!
36:30 What about the objective the tall bug is standing on?
13:29 Doesn’t overwatch only hit on sixes? Or did I miss something with the Astra Militarum abilities?
It does. They attacked with a flamer which auto-hits, so there was no roll to hit.
Subscribed! Pls make more 10e content. Maybe blood angels ?
Thank you! More content (including Blood Angels) will be coming!
