  • #waterfalls Hiji Falls is a National Park and a popular tourist destination on the island and prefecture of Okinawa, Japan. It is located in the northern part of the island, approximately 20 kilometers north of the city of Nago and close to the national park of Yanbaru National Park. There is an entrance fee of 500yen and toilets, cooking area and drink machines at the Hiji falls camp site. From there the hike in will take you about 40mins depending on your pace and is quite undulating with lots of stairs, so be prepared with enough water and good footwear. There is also the option to trek through the river for a short section of the trail, which I personally prefer as it puts you more in nature, just be aware of slippery rocks and the fact you will get your feet wet. Also, since you are not able to swim at the main lagoon this area gives you your only options for a refreshing dip in the cool mountain waters. Over all Hiji is a great waterfall to visit, we recommend you take your time to really enjoy the beauty of the forest and all the smaller waterfalls along the way.
Nestled in the forest, the Hiji waterfall is about 26 meters tall. The sound of the running water and the tranquil atmosphere of the forest make the waterfall a good spot for a rest.
