Thank you for this little turorial. I just wanted some simple easy method to run lights in my trailer. Not wall plugs or any of that. You nailed this as i couldnt find any other tutorials out there. Thank you again!
Glad it helped!
as someone building a trailer myself, this is fooking badass
Glad you liked it, it was a fun build and has been super useful. Good luck with yours!
I just bought a small 5x8 trailer for goofing around. I customize everything lol. I want to do this so bad. My wife is going to kill me. Haha. This is awesome.
Yeah it was a fun project, it is now very functional!

Good video. You could have run a grounding wire to your frame, then only run the positive wire from the switch to each light. You would then just ground each light to the metal frame they’re mounted on. This is the way we do it in large tv trailers. Simpler than running two wires everywhere. Otherwise well done.
Yeah i considered that method as well
Thank you for the video and for the parts list links in the description. Very helpful and informative. I was thinking of doing something similar and your video gave me some better ideas. I'm curious if you considered connecting a charging circuit out to the trailer emergency brake battery? Would need a diode or isolator to keep from draining the emergency brake battery from the interior cabin lights. Or maybe use your larger battery to be the emergency brake battery? Would appreciate your thoughts if you have time. If not, no problem and keep up the good work on the videos. Thanks again.
I have thought about the emergency battery and I'm not sure how the wiring would go but it would make the most sense to run it off of the main big battery that I have installed. Anyways, thanks for the comment.
Nice build.
Thanks for watching!
Great job
Thanks for watching
Great install video. I am working on a 6/12 that I haul my Harley in. Do you have a link to the power switch you put by the door to turn all the lights on with. Thanks😎😎
I used an existing switch that was already in the trailer, but here's one that is similar amzn.to/4468uK1
Did the fuse block or the battery need to be grounded to the trailer anywhere?
I didn't, I just used the negative on the battery
thanks or sharing. How did you power the strip lights?
Same as the other lights, off of the 12v battery
@@Myksgarage so you just run a switch to the fuse block then to the lights?
awesome vid! thanks so much!
Yeah Buddy!! Your trailer turned out great!
Any chance you might know where or what brand that spare tire mount is? That think looks solid the best I can tell!
I found it on eBay and I can no longer see it on there.
@@Myksgarage OK thanks for replying and trying anyway! Those things are hard to find!
@Myks Garage
If you took the wire going to the original light switch and ran it to the battery would that be an appropriate way to charge the battery when hooked up to a truck?
It sounds logical that it would work that way.
I just recently commented on your other lighting video for the other trialer , I have the same dual light switch, so do I just need one pos a one neg from oneof the switches then t splice the main pos and neg wire for the lights and a pos and neg wires going to the fuse block
I'll see if I can do another video for you that explains this more simply. Stay tuned
@@Myksgarage awesome, but I think you got me corrected and sorted out on your other video, as you mentioned that it should be 2 positive wires coming from one switch. One to the fuse block and one to the lighting
@@Myksgarage also I was asking if the negative wire for the lights has to go to the battery or can it just run to a negative terminal on the fuse block
Is it possible to have the battery charge when it's hooks up to my truck?
Yeah, but I’m not sure how to wire that
Im building a 6x10 for hare scramble racing this year, any details on the ramp fold out piece ?
I haven't done that yet, when I do, I'll make a video of it. Good luck in your build!
Amazon snowmobile trailer accessories has them.
Could u run an outlet off of that to run a dewalt battery charger
Yes, you could run a inverter off the battery and be able to plug in chargers and such,
Like this one: amzn.to/3gUayT0
@@Myksgarage thank you
Another question for you. Is it possible to add an 3000 watt inverter to it to bypass having to get a generator?
Yes that is possible, it will just hook up to the battery directly. You just might need a bigger battery bank so it will last longer and probably a way charge the battery quicker. good luck with your build!
What's the brand of light rods you used and does the light switch have 2 pos and neg wires to it, one to the circuit box and the other ran down to the lights etc
amzn.to/3ccQRU9 these are the lights I used. The switch used only has 2 connections, positive in and positive out to the lights.
So if I am doing something similar, going to run a 16ft strip on each side of the trailer. So would I just tie the LED light strips into a 14 gauge wire which that will then run to the control center I am setting up?
That sounds right
Very helpful!! Quick question, if I don’t really want the external plug to charge at home, do I still need the NOCO external plug and onboard battery charger? Will I need everything else listed? Thanks!
Yes, you don't need the charger or the external plug, just the battery and everything else
What kind of lights are those?
These ones here
amzn.to/4dpHSJU
Giant battery for just a few led lights.
I will have other things running off it as well so it will be good to have extra capacity
Is it possible to add an outlet to also run off that that can power a work light?
Yeah you could do that
Can you link those bins please?

Love your videos. I purchased a 6x12 trailer last year and used your ideas to build it out as a dirt bike trailer. Im thinking about upgrading to a 16’ long trailer. Is the 7.5’ wide trailer worth the extra cost?
The 7.5" width trailer is nice, but only for a-little bit more in cost.
Do you have a link for that outlet?
Yes, here it is: amzn.to/3heRvD7
The wheel chocks are not installed?. Do they bolt to the floor or the E-Track?
The wheels chocks mount into the e-track on the side
Etrack bens. What's the brand. Can't find them

@@Myksgarage no way. The ones you have are way bigger. They're exactly what I need
When will you make dirt bike videos again?
We've got a trip planned for this weekend, should have some good content to post!
@@Myksgarage okay can’t wait!
What type of solar panel are you using? Specs? Mount?
