I received my 2022 Working Horses With Jim calendar. Let me tell everybody it is not only a great calendar it is a “ KILLER AWESOME” calendar! Everyone on this channel will love it. The pictures and the quality of printing was way beyond what I was expecting. I would suggest you order soon before they run out they are that good! Thanks Jim and family. Greatly appreciated!
I'm hoping they'll still be available after my bank completes the switch to the new company! Wouldn't you know, it's a royal mess and I won't be able to make transactions using a debit card until the switch it completed. Inconvenient, to say the least!
@@kimfleury That new bank/debit card is a hassle. I'm supposed to enter ssn on my phone to access online banking; that bank's website says they'll never ask for ssn. (Not typing/telling ssn so will prob have to go to the bank.) Best luck to everyone "transitioning" to a surprise new bank. 🤔 Calender sounds great...after debit card is activated.
Glad you didn't edit that out of the video when Lady got scared . Now those of us that are not around horses all of the time got to see how fast things can change .
You're right! I am no expert but a friend of mine used to drive her mini horses all the time. She said her first rule was always, always have an exit strategy in case they do spook and take off.
I love how you tube pops up old thumb nails like this she was so good looking in team with bill once lady got prego i then realized how special bill is all of jims horses are my favorit horses every one is amazing their like dogs they all have personalities
I know nothing about their harness, and definitely dont know anything about Eaveners. But wish to knew how their harnesses work. Im paralyzed now. Thanks for your filming and narrations. You guys help me know your horses. Love you guys❤❤
I believe the linkage was not at the same on each horse. Love watching you work with the horses and love your care of those beautiful animals! Just wonderful!
I was always impressed by the strength a horse would display when concerned about an issue. Particularly sheep. Driving these two beauties via a vlog is such a treat.
It was an uneven evener :) because bill didnt step back enough and you had to make up the difference pushing on the wiffel tree with your knee! We had horses for a long time, my old boy would jump in the back of a truck like a dog...in and out no ramp and still did when he was blind....communication was key and very effective. He died at 35 years old. We grew up together. I envy your life, great channel!!
8:15 - the evener is pulling more on the right side meaning his rear chains could have been one link longer ;) which would even out the weight each horse is pulling.
Learned to hitch up a team at age 10, to either the manure spreader, or to a hay wagon, and drive them. Nice team of Belgians, owned and used by the farmer who rented our farm to us. He used a tractor also, but preferred his team on hilly hay fields. They don't tip over like a tractor does.
You handled that spook with Lady so calmly, it shows you know your horses and they know and trust you. It’s a beautiful relationship that takes lots of work, patience, persistence, love, and time. My horse flips out over goats if she can hear them but not see them. I guess she doesn’t like the sound they make 🤷♀️ And she is also terrified of mammoth mules. I think its the long ears lol.
Jim, very impressed how accurate you are at backing the horses when connecting the pin for the manure spreader. I have a trailer for hauling ATVs and I need my backup camera to get it that good. Now, you don’t need a backup camera but you have to use verbal commands instead of having a steering wheel, brakes and an accelerator. That’s really impressive. Also, when you were backing up to connect to the round bale you are definitely in a tricky spot if the horses come back a bit hard or too far. You sure could get crushed with your own rig. You must have great confidence in your horses and your ability to get them to stop on a dime.
Was shocked to see Lady skittish of the sheep. Hahaha. It was neat to see how Jim handled them. Anyway, love your videos. Thanks for taking us along. 💕
I always wore a wide brimmed hat tilted back, when spreading manure. The slinger or beater on our spreader had a tendancy wing a sticky clod or two forward. Before the hat I had been hit in the back of the head with odorous clumps. That always made my dad laugh.
I think it was nice for Jim to take "His Honey," out for a ride on the Honey wagon!. such a nice guy!. thoughtful. And I guess we could say that Lady was a little "Sheepish" about Sheep!. And Jims day was dragging by. I know, 20K comedians out of work and I'm cracking Jokes. thanks for sharing. ECF.
Jim you drive your horses better than I drive my car hope you and your family enjoyed your Thanksgiving by the way your daughters have nice singing voices if I ever get married would like them to sing at my wedding God bless you family
WOW! I can't believe it! I had a spreader the same year and model as this one , for my small horse farm. I had it rigged up to pull it with my yard tractor. SWEET.🐴🐴
Need to take in one more link on the near side of Lady, , I think. The bar is not even, and Lady's bar is not even. Whatever, its all about the links and how many to take in or let out. Sheep! Either offer to feed them for a few days at your place, or ask to put Lady and Bill in with them. She needs to live with them for a little while. Maybe she's really never seen sheep. And they smell funny. Worst shy I ever had was a camel, last thing one might expect to see just on the edge of Canberra, it was way away but the smell blew off it. They literally bolted, pack horse beside me, across a road and lucky no car, then pulled up blowing raspberries. Greetings from Australia. Great to see you all well and lively again. Must be nice to have Brenda at home all day.
I need to be schooled on the terminology, tugs, eveners, trace lines, etc. I know what the collar is. So maybe Jim can do a video if he hasn't already explaining the parts of the harness.
It is so wonderful to see you working with horses instead of a tractor. I grew up with neighbors who worked horses on their farms. Always loved watching them. Your horses work well and are clean and shiny. They look happy to work. Thank you. You have a new subscriber .
I always wanted to know how anyone could use one of them round bales. Cow hay. Hahaha. Now i know. Ive learned Baron by his tail now. Which one is Lady?.
I was shocked when the video notification came over my phone. With all that Lady has done and been around I couldn't believe her fear BUT if she has never seen/smelled sheep, it makes sense.
the farm I grew up on was a stop over point on the geese's way north every spring in April just outside of Sault Ste Marie, Canada. They would rest overnight in our fields (eating up all the new shoots of the coming pasture or hay crop but Dad refused to scare them off and was adamant that they were here long before we were and it was just a cost of business. around 10 am, they would begin to get excited and by 10:30 they were streaming skyward, circling and getting sorted out into their skeins of vee shaped streamers before heading out to the waters of Lake George or Huron. They would start trickling in around 5pm. they usually stayed for around 2 weeks, waiting for the northern lakes to clear of ice before heading on towards the Artic Circle. in the fall, on their way back, our farm was posted as no hunting and they would stop in again, though they didn't stay as long. When I married and left the farm I fell into a severe depression a few years later, that continued to worsen with each passing year. a chance spring visit to a park with a lot of geese coming in solve the reason for my depression. All my life, the geese had herald the arrival of spring and without them, spring never came. so thereafter, I'd take some lettuce scrapes and head off to a local lake and welcome the geese back. My heart still soars to see the vees overhead.
The strap is not through the pole🤔 Good evening to you both, how wonderful it is to see you both feeling so much better and out working with Lady and Bill.Oh Lady a big strapping girl worried about little sheep 😆🤣😄 but horses can be like that, another one is pigs a lot of horses bolt at the sight of one,l know this as l was on a 18hh hunter that just flipped....boy did l have to hang on and it was on a busy road,he never got over his fear of pigs..? he could smell them befor he seen them.So Good to see you both one again 🤗💐 all the very best 🌱🌱🌱💕🇬🇧
Yes, funny that Lady was so scared of a helpless sheep. She doesn't like pigs either. Sorry you had such a time with the horse you were riding and the pig. Thanks for watching.
50 years ago, a friend worked as a mechanic for a John Deere dealer. He said they stood behind all their farm equipment except their manure spreaders. Makes sense to y
Oh this brought back childhood memories of watching ( and helping) my daddy work a team of large mules. Different animals indeed, but so many things the same, the harness, etc.
Our good old team at home would spook from the strangest things, a mineral feeder they had walked by a hundred times one day just scared the heck out of them
You have a beautiful farm! Very interesting video. Lady didn't freak out that bad. My riding horses have spooked worse and they hardly ever did. I hope you are feeling better💙
I knew a farm family that sadly had their Dad get caught up in a manure spreader . He was by himself and spent hours stuck in that thing he had to use his pocket knife to cut off one of his arms. He ended up with no arms and his legs were badly messed up as well so it was a wheel chair for him after that. The spreader was not one pulled by horses but instead a tractor . I don't know it he tried fixing it while it was going or what . Still that was a terrible thing for anyone to have happen.
Great video,,with some leaving hanging, was surprised too of the sheep .maybe lady thought they were coyotes,,or dogs...she seems to protect Bill somewhat..glad to see you getting fresh air in your lungs up the way. Everyone says hi
The steers look delicious. When the cattle in our area lie down in the field on a cloudy day, as yours are on this day, it usually indicates rain will come soon. Just an old wives tale that is more true than not. Odd how animals can sense weather changes.
Lady didn't freak out. She was just letting you'z know what's what and who is really boss! Did any of the family ever read Gulliver's Travels btw? Horses play a pivotal part.
I know here in Wisconsin the Amish do have SMV signs on their buggies and equipment although I belive their was kind of a fight over it years ago but a few bad accidents changed the attitude towards using them

I check it out
@@kathydoyle9939 usin ssn is total normal while purchase online. I would not be afraid of it
Jim, I'm sure you heard it before, but I love the fact that your horses have nice tails to swat flys with.
Glad you didn't edit that out of the video when Lady got scared . Now those of us that are not around horses all of the time got to see how fast things can change .

Why did farmers do away with round hay bales? They said livestock ain't getting a square meal. LOL!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I always love seeing horses working and listening the hoofs and the jingles. Its peaceful
i hate that sound its annoying
It was an uneven evener :) because bill didnt step back enough and you had to make up the difference pushing on the wiffel tree with your knee!

Tranquility of the team walking along the road.

Lady's fear was a surprise but Jim handled it like the professional that he is. Thanks for sharing.
I love hearing the horses clip clop down the road. Our road was hard dirt though and it sounded a bit different,
I sure do enjoy watching your horses work! They are so intelligent.

Brenda and Jim are lucky to have each other.
I love watching those horses work
Was shocked to see Lady skittish of the sheep. Hahaha. It was neat to see how Jim handled them. Anyway, love your videos. Thanks for taking us along. 💕
Watching these horses do work is simply amazing
I just love watching the horses. God-bless you and your family and keep safe.
I always wore a wide brimmed hat tilted back, when spreading manure. The slinger or beater on our spreader had a tendancy wing a sticky clod or two forward. Before the hat I had been hit in the back of the head with odorous clumps. That always made my dad laugh.
That was fun...good ole s___t spreader...they don't make like they used to. Thx for taking ud along! 🐎🐾😎💞🐎

Thanks so much 😊
Jim you drive your horses better than I drive my car hope you and your family enjoyed your Thanksgiving by the way your daughters have nice singing voices if I ever get married would like them to sing at my wedding God bless you family
Lady looks very beautiful
Hi Jim is there any particular reason that you have the spreader tyres the wrong way round. Andrew U.K.
This man knows his wheels!
I never noticed that, I didn't think they were
LOL! The first time my mule saw a calf he just freaked out. There was no way in the world he would go near that calf. And he never did!
haha, funny what they are scared of
WOW! I can't believe it! I had a spreader the same year and model as this one , for my small horse farm. I had it rigged up to pull it with my yard tractor. SWEET.🐴🐴

Greetings from Australia. Great to see you all well and lively again. Must be nice to have Brenda at home all day.
You don’t have the tug straps hooked the same. You are very good with horses. Love watching your channel
i hope you understand my English, the answer to the question. the middle string of the right horse is upside down. Greetings from the Netherlands.
twist in harness
The trase chains aren't hooked the same on each horse.
Good to see you 2 feeling a bit better than last weeks video!
I need to be schooled on the terminology, tugs, eveners, trace lines, etc. I know what the collar is. So maybe Jim can do a video if he hasn't already explaining the parts of the harness.
I would love a lesson on how to hook them up
I agree!

I love horses and to see them do the work the have done in the past is so cool
They really had some spring in their steps today!
Is it the chain links on Bill? They looked uneven
What a great show loved watching
Video looks great here in Michigan. Looks just like a normal day here. Great video!
Thanks 👍
my Morgan mare is convinced that sheep eat horses for lunch, can appreciate Lady's reaction
I was shocked when the video notification came over my phone. With all that Lady has done and been around I couldn't believe her fear BUT if she has never seen/smelled sheep, it makes sense.

Yes, funny that Lady was so scared of a helpless sheep. She doesn't like pigs either. Sorry you had such a time with the horse you were riding and the pig. Thanks for watching.
Nice to see you and your daughter working together, love the video keep up the good work thanks...
Picked up a few more links on Jim's left heel chain than on the right, looks to me.
I'm not going to say how much better he just backed the steering bugy to the manure spreader, I can't back my Jeep that accurate !
That is one gorgeous teem lady and bill are such amazing anamals
Absolutely love every video you put out. Lady now has a sheep or two she needs to get to know.🐑🐏
50 years ago, a friend worked as a mechanic for a John Deere dealer. He said they stood behind all their farm equipment except their manure spreaders. Makes sense to y
🤣
Wow a lot of hard work. Beautiful horses. Thanks for taking us along
That's awesome that Jim can control them Hugh horses with just simple voice commands.
Oh this brought back childhood memories of watching ( and helping) my daddy work a team of large mules. Different animals indeed, but so many things the same, the harness, etc.
Glad it brought back good memories. Thanks for watching
Love it ...Ladys reaction..here In Oz some call sheep "Ground Lice"... could be a combination the sight and different smell..
Jim I think one pulling thing are one is longer than another
Brenda that was so worth you getting covered in manure I always wondered how a ground driven spreader works
The right-most chain was not cinched up as short as the other three.
Thanks for these videos!
Just found your channel. Loved it. Nothing's more relaxing than the steady gait of a horse going down the road.
Welcome!
I give up. What did you do wrong when hitching up the spreader?
In New Zealand we call it silage and it has a sweet pungent smell, but the cows absolutely love it 😁
Chains were not hooked even!
For anyone curious, that’s silage, essentially ya wrap ya hay bale and let it ferment over time it goes a black colour sheep and cows love it
Our good old team at home would spook from the strangest things, a mineral feeder they had walked by a hundred times one day just scared the heck out of them
You just never know sometimes!
Could have been a mouse , rat or snake under it !
You have a beautiful farm! Very interesting video. Lady didn't freak out that bad. My riding horses have spooked worse and they hardly ever did. I hope you are feeling better💙
both steers look good
Good to see both of you out working but Jim doesn’t sound 100% but hopefully getting stronger every day. 🙏
We had our first large flocks of Pinkfoot Greese flying over yesterday here on the North Norfolk coast UK stay safe and well everyone ,
The horses seemed to be happy to be working. They too seem to realize something was out of alignment I certainly have no idea of how to fix it.
They are not equally balanced in the harnessing. Great work all, GOD Bless.
I love watching the horses
Where is Baron
One of the clasps on the right side should be facing out .
Tugs hooked in different link so not equal pull.
Good to see you all back stay will and health.
I knew a farm family that sadly had their Dad get caught up in a manure spreader . He was by himself and spent hours stuck in that thing he had to use his pocket knife to cut off one of his arms. I don't know it he tried fixing it while it was going or what . Still that was a terrible thing for anyone to have happen.
the tug on the right side horse is not strait
Nice to see you folks well and back at it thanks for video
Thanks for sharing your day.
To pull all that wait there withers must be killing after that!
Looks like the traces another hooked even
Great video,,with some leaving hanging, was surprised too of the sheep .maybe lady thought they were coyotes,,or dogs...she seems to protect Bill somewhat..glad to see you getting fresh air in your lungs up the way. Everyone says hi
Leaves changing...opps
I was wondering why no back and side rails on your seat on the carts, surely it be more support for the reins controller.
Thankyou so much. Terrific video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lady was ready to do battle! But she follows your lead, so I'm sure she'll learn to ignore the sheep in good time.
I miss seeing the last part of your video. If I can't skip the add, I skip the videos. Happy to see Jim feeling better.
The steers look delicious. When the cattle in our area lie down in the field on a cloudy day, as yours are on this day, it usually indicates rain will come soon. Just an old wives tale that is more true than not. Odd how animals can sense weather changes.
Love them Belgians, always have
Lady didn't freak out. She was just letting you'z know what's what and who is really boss! Did any of the family ever read Gulliver's Travels btw? Horses play a pivotal part.
Traces arnt the same length and not in the carrier’s
Good one.You never can tell when one will get excited over some thing new. Must be nice to have a steady helper.
Thank's for sharing Jim I missed your videos I'm glad you guys are feeling better
Thanks so much
Lady is sheepish lol. Can't wait to see those fall colors.
That’s amazing how those horses follow commands.
Do you have to have a SMV sign on the back of your cart in that state your in?
Probably and I should.
Although the Amish in our area don't
I know here in Wisconsin the Amish do have SMV signs on their buggies and equipment although I belive their was kind of a fight over it years ago but a few bad accidents changed the attitude towards using them
