Hopefully you filed off the sharp bits of metal on the pto shaft. If that is a disc-bine , with high-speed "spinning turtles cutter-heads" on it, be careful it doesn't through out bits of rock or gravel to hurt you. They recommend protective see-through puckboard at rear of cab. Nice looking soil and crops there.
With the swinging gate then you can have them secured without having to rush to raise the ramp....I also have a boat winch mounted to raise and lower the ramp
Another great video Tay.😊 The girls will love having all that room to run around. That is terrible with what happened to the corn, been there before with flattened corn ugh Glad to see your still haying I’m trying to get more done as well. 🤗
You had me at doughnuts again Taylor! And then ya really messed up by sacrificing them to the bears. You’ll know the ones though…they’ll have white snouts!😂 Great video, those heifers weren’t haven’t! Strong little buggers! Stay well and safe. 😊
Nice to see the heifers checking out the stalls right away, like when you go to a hotel people check out the bed right away. They will enjoy all the room and 8 year old hay must still taste ok after a long (LOL) drive. Hopefully Ricky Racoon finds your donuts so someone can enjoy them. Sorry your scenic drive the other day was cut short but lucky it did not happen when you needed to be someplace. Stay safe and healthy. Thank you for all your efforts videoing and editing the videos for us.
That’s a great analogy! Yeah hopefully someone got a tasty treat 😂. Thanks so much for commenting and it’s my pleasure to make these videos and share them with you!!
Cool Taylor the calves are moved and all is well with them. You need a head strap for your camera. Good to see your getting one last field of hay in. God bless as you and Brent get everything ready for winter.
On the donut topic, TastyKake brand Caramel Apple mini donuts are great if you can find them in your area. These a limited seasonal product for fall. I think the winter variety is Salted Caramel. KandyKakes are another of my favorites.
Moving those young cows was entertaining. Brent pulls and you push. At one point it looked like you were going to fall and need the cows tail to prevent such.
Really beautiful heifers Taylor. You and Brent have them looking very well. You both have very good animal husbandry skills 👏. Well done again folks and thanks again 👍. Regards pat Brazil 😊.
Morning Taylor, hope your able to salvage most of the corn. Thanks for sharing the move to the new barn. Will be fun to see the heifers grow and settle in there. Best wishes, D
Good morning! It’s actually not our corn that’s planted just land rented from us. But I do hope they can harvest most of it. Yes! I can’t wait to see the girls get big and come back to the milking barn! Thanks so much for watching 😀
Hi Taylor, it great to see Brent is raising replacement calf's for the herd. You look happy with the though of looking after them, especially in the original calf barn used by Brent's family. More grass bailed to add to your stock pile and I was wondering when the big unveiling of barn sign was going to happen? Thanks for the video. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.
Are that few calves going to generate enough heat to keep the barn heat up above freezing? That is a large barn and nothing above them to hold the heat in. We had to run a ventless LP heater to supplement there body heat.
Good afternoon Taylor. Hope you are having a great day. I think I will call you the Calf Whisperer. Great job on moving those calves. You seemed to be able to calm them down. I had to laugh whe they got into the new barn and just looked like they were disinterested. Sorry about your donuts. But tomorrow is another day. Have a great day and God bless.
Hi Taylor It's so enjoyable to watch your videos because I just keep remembering myself doing the same jobs This is the true definition of TIME TRAVEL Thank you Stewart!!!!!
Awesome 😎 video that sucks all that crop got blown over corn head should pick most of it up heifer's are definitely going to be happy in their new spot.. have a great day ✌🏻💯😊💚🌱
Hey Taylor, nothing better than a pack of little powdered sugar donuts with a hot cup of coffee. How do you like that Kuhn disc mower? Is it expensive to maintain? I’ve been looking at the drum mower they make. A lot less moving parts to worry about. Thanks for the ride along.
When I was a kid, we were hit with a hurricane that blew over the corn crop days before harvest. Two other farmers, whose corn was similarly blown over, teamed up with my Dad to cut the corn one way, against the way the corn had blown. Then circled back to chop another row. All three farms managed to salvage their corn that way. Lots of wasted time but saved the crop.
@@tayfarms There was some corn that laid flat. We kids were tasked with stripping the ears and piling them on a hay trailer. Dad ran them through the chopper which cut them into the blower and blew the pieces into the silo.
Also can you film the process of feeding the haylage from beginning to end ? When you unwrap the bales the hay is it still damp ? Wet ?.... what does it look and smell like ? is the nutritional value much more ,same ,or less than dry hay ?..... it has to be much easier😊 than worring about the hay drying down?
What ?.....ok ?.......I'm use to dry hay and not familiar with haylage or wrapped wet hay does it ferment ?......does the color stay the same ?.....and the cost compared to simply rolling the hay dry ?
Beautiful day to be outside .Taylor WE truly appreciate your dedication .you and Brent make it look easy and it’s not so let Express my Thanks to you both much Respect And never forget America needs Honorable Dairy farmers like you.🙏💪💪💪
When I first started watching your videos. Brent did not like being in videos now He's been in quite a few videos. He must've warmed up to the videos. But you're doing good work, and it's surprisingly. How much work that you actually do? That no other lady, whatever would think of doing. So keep up the great work thanks Taylor
Good morning Taylor Great to see how you an Brett move the hefiers , the old barn is a great place for them , An great to see that your bailing more hay hopefully you have reached your yearly goal of hay Look forward to seeing the next video
Hi Taylor, I thought for a while there that you looked a little sad when your heifers weren’t in the barn anymore. It’s great that you are planning ahead by raising your replacement heifers to replace some of your older cows and I know it’s going to be hard for you when that time comes because you are so attached to them. And I think as viewers we’ve become somewhat attached to your girls too. Great video again and keep farming.🐄🚜😉
Hi, it was a little sad to see them go. Almost like they’re growing up 😌. But it’s great to them with more space! You are absolutely right it’s alway hard to see the old girls go, knowing you’ll always remember them fondly. Times change and it’s always difficult to part with them but having some new heifers to bond with will make it easier. Thanks so much and have a wonderful day!
Nice video Taylor. You handled the heifer transfer pretty well. From your thumbnail I thought there was a jail break some ended up in the cornfield. Hope the neighbors can get the corn off as silage. When I was a kid, we had some pigs escape and they spent a few weeks in my uncle's cornfield. You ever try too track down pigs in a cornfield? They weren't real big yet. Thanks for the ride-along mowing. I hope you get it in before the rain starts! 🤠🐄☘🚛🚜
Good Morning Taylor, Thank you again for another awesome video. I was sitting here thinking that you would be posting a video today so I reached over, picked up my phone and there it was….the notification of a new post. Yaaaaaay!! Although the calves weren’t excited, I’m sure your subscribers are or will be with the new post. Just so down to earth and funny too. Have a wonderful upcoming week and be safe. Thank you again.
Hi Taylor thanks for sharing another awesome video, it was a bit of a anticlimax putting the calves in the barn, I thought they would be jumping around. The smell of the tractor and fresh cut grass bliss 😊, know wonder you love your job. Thanks again take care and stay safe 👍 😊.
Always fun to follow ur farming adventures!! I fully identify w/ ur calves about moving....I'm very apprehensive about going to a 'new' place!! Hate to hear about the corn. Due to all the various weather challenges around the country, seems like farmers have had a very tough season!
good heifers shifting # when cattle resist to move grab the tail from the base & turn it at 180 degree , animal will move # the 7 yeras old hay should have been removed from the barn & if water is too old as well # 👍👍 🇵🇰
Good morning Taylor. Thank you for sharing your journey! The calves did pretty good for you all. It could have been worse. I hate you lost your doughnuts. I eat a pack of the white powdered doughnuts that come in a pack of four every morning. I have done this for the last twenty years. I enjoy your video content a lot. You do a great job!!! God bless you all !!! Eddy
It’s good to have an extra gate around even if it’s not perfect. You never know when u will need one. I ruined one this morning while I was feeding. Backed right into with the feed truck. The down corn isn’t good. We’re having trouble getting it picked up. We will be out your way soon. Maybe we can get some close up chopper action for your channel if you would like. Another great video. Have a good week.
Hi grate video like the way u explain thinks before u do them like moving the calves. Heads up though the water tank for calves the girls might chew on the hose ,float pull it out that would not be good they are very curious at that age. coming from x dairy farmer.
moving those calves went way easier than it ever did for me! way to go guys, seeing that corn is another god reason that you decided to stop yourselves a lot of work and machines goes into that just too see that i think grass fed is the way to go better for the cows. by the way how is the hunt for a tractor coming?
Thanks for the video! Always entertaining to wrestle with the heifers!! 🤣🤣
GOD BLESS TAYLOR ALWAYS
Loved the homemade cattle trailer good job keeping them in 😅
Watching you and Brent move those heifers was very entertaining lol. Glad that you and Brent still can laugh after these episodes

You need a permanent swing gate on the trailer that is mounted inside the ramp...that's what I have on my stick trailer and works great
Brent sure is opening up to the camera!! Love seeing y'all and your farm!
With the swinging gate then you can have them secured without having to rush to raise the ramp....I also have a boat winch mounted to raise and lower the ramp

Always enjoy coming along on the journey with you Tay 💜💜🇦🇺
Always enjoyed your videos Miss Tay. And a big 👍's up! 👍
I’m so happy to hear that! Thank you 😊
Taylor you and Brent need to put a gate in side the cattle trailer it will work better Kim Jones Gretna Va
Great video, keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing.😊
Gettin' your kicks on the 1066!
Maybe some old shingles would help on the ramp
Your videos are special. Thank You 😊
Thank YOU!!
I always enjoyed cutting grass and brushing cows, sure miss being on a farm. Please put a guard on that PTO shaft.
I really thought the heifers would put on a show in their new barn.😮😮😕🙄🙄🙄😁👍👍🐄🐄🐄⚘🙏🙏🙏
Love the new barn

Like to see you are a great worker
TIM from Canada, you should have backed up a horse trailer to that side door. It would’ve made your job a lot easier. 😊

Why do you wrap the hay

Thanks Taylor, 🙋♂️🐈🐈

Getting the heifers into the trailer is about as bad as getting the kids into the dentist
😅😅😅
Hi Taylor great video you are a great lady for explaining ever thing in great detail 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
..."" failure to thrive "" of sorts when the calves dont care ..?!! .. thank you Ms Taylor you do nice work ..!
First!!! 🆒 VIDEO...Taylor!!!!

Another great vid! Nature can be a life saver or a killer! Stay safe
Nice work accommodating the heifers in the old barn and thanks for that tour in your last video. You’re a sweet farmer.
Thanks so much!

Good job on the hearing protection! Now if we can get you and Brent to wear seat belts!
can you connect them and sit on them to stop the buzzer ? while just transporting to the fields ?
I've heard you can often salvage a good bit of downed corn by coming at it perpendicular to the direction of fall.
Would love to know where in Maine you are located 😅😅
I ran through a cornfield once with shorts on. Never knew how bad you itch after that. Just a completely random city slicker observation.
😅 yeah it’s got some weird little hairs on it that can be quite irritating on the skin
If we had one that didn't what to go forwards we use too push them backwards less restance lol good job guy's love from the UK 😊
😅 makes sense!

14:52 why don't you open up The wings on that haybine so that you can have a wider.windrow so you wouldn't have to tedd the hay
Could you use that trailer to move the skid steer back and fourth to the new barn?
I’m not sure if it would hold it but it might 😀

Miss Taylor. What is the difference between "almost" and "no quite" 5 months in age? : )
Absolutely nothing, just my crazy brain 😂
Should get some beefers to grow and sell. He has the land for it help pay the bills
What brand and model disc mower are you using
It’s a kuhn fc302
3:41 Almost or not quite... What is the difference?
What is the lake we see in some of your videos? Do you have access to it?
Do cows bite?
love your video
much older organic farmer in wisconsin, we also fix our tractors every day we feed pasture n0 corn We milk 60 cows god bless
At what percent moisture do wrap your hay when making haylage ?.....immediately after cutting ? And what do you do with the plastic after ?
We try around 48% which in Maine means letting it sit for a few hours before wrapping. Plastic is recycled. Thanks for commenting
Does Brent live on the farm with his wife? Have not seen anyone in the videos besides you two
I thought you didn't grow any corn?
We don’t it’s corn on our rented land
👍
👍👍
I'm curious about why Brent waddles when he walks, does he have arthritis?
I suspect so. I catch myself waddling from achy hips.
If U do A job...U love ...U never work A day in UR life...or somethin' like that..... Taylor loves her job!!!!
Nicccccce vedo🎉
Moving calves and young stock was easily one of the most frustrating job on the farm.
It can definitely be a challenge 😅
Still considering a diffrent tractor?
Yep, still looking but haven’t seen anything lately 😀
Fasten your seatbelt Taylor!
A doughnut a day helps you work rest and play.
