- James Kalm slinks through the back streets and alleys of New York City, looking for significant artistic production. In his quest, he often comes across artists who deserve greater recognition. Joan Snyder and Joyce Kozloff are icons of various branches of feminist art. With careers spanning from the late 1960s until now, these painters have been engaged in resisting and subverting the paternal hegemony, and the investigation of truly, authentic Feminist art. “Come Closer” Snyders latest presentation at Canada displays the artists lates developments. Extravagant collage of straw, rose buds and burlap are enhanced with a luscious pallet of rosy magentas. Kozloff with “Collateral Damage” present viewers with decorative maps that diagram current political conflicts that are destroying cultural and social legacies throughout our fragile world. This program was recorded January 12, and February 2, 2024. #jameskalmreport #jameskalmroughcut #lorenmunk

GOOD stuff from J. S.
Whoa, I didn’t hear anything about the Kalm report getting into trouble - with UA-cam? Any particular video? Anyhow, thanks James!
Yes @singlespies the James Kalm Report was terminated after 18 years and over 800 vids by UA-cam for violating the "Nudity and Sexual content" community standards. My appeal was denied, and I had to spent two weeks mounting a defense. The New York Times headline (from 2011) and Jerry Saltz's plea for viewer's complaints got me back on line (for the time being)...JK
Thank God! You are needed!@@jameskalmroughcut
Joyce Kozloff is a part of the Ornamentalism movement. 👍😊
Two eye-catching shows. Much thanks!
Bits of cy twombly keeps popping up.. very lovely..
Just another rendition of Joan Mitchell, instead of full Expressionism, Snyder uses shapes and other detritus. 👍🙏🏼
Really enjoy seeing From the Sky by Joan Snyder. Something there that's captivating.
Joyce Kozloff's maps are pure treasures.
Nice pairing of the two exhibitions very thought provoking and Woke paintings by Joyce Kozloff without
overstating the issues, beautifully done.
Snyder proves that women can’t paint to save themselves.
Kosloff is marginally better, though still tragic.
The JS show was one of my favorites, along with Ross Bleckner at Petzel, this season. Two totally different approaches and styles but both very compelling eye candy (in the best sense of the term) and very well crafted.

Loved these works, there’s something feminine about them, they seem to me to be made by a woman, I love them..
Karaoke busker.. really?
These performers are following their dreams (?)...JK
