Hey, just wanted to say thank yall so much for the amazing and super helpful guide. I read the first 20 chapters before hitting a slump. keep killing it thanks
Yeah, I was 13 or 14, and had read Misery, Carrie, Salems Lot, salems lot, eyes of dragon, (was dark half out?), and gunslinger 1 and 2. Just like a couple years before that I would read Naria downstairs in the kids library. Ice cold strong water fountains in the Air conditioned library in the summer is an oasis to a kid on a bike from dawn to dusk. :)
Wow, the New York family returning home from Florida by way of east Texas threw me. So much that I had to grab my copy of the book and check. I always read it as them driving from New York to Disney Land in California and back and happened to come into the story when a little over halfway home but sure enough. It was Disney world. Quite the meandering path to get back to the Big Apple but whatev.
"Pocket" in music jamming means with the funk. We went from PENNSYLVANIA to Whistler, but went to new orleans then west across texas to southwest. I knew about this book and love driving out west. But mid Atlantic to west coast we went through Texas via New Orleans.
My favorite SK book and the 2nd book of his I read. Primarily because the characters he created and were engaged with each other. King went on and got better at writing and creating characters who are memorable. Now it is just nostalgic compared to better written books since.
I know you guys are young but for your edification Captain trips was Jerry Garcia's nickname. He was the leader of the rock band The Grateful Dead. I think that clears up where Steven got the name from
25:00. I read 1990 version... thought it was radiation at first having read On the Beach already...
I reread the stand right after the pandemic started. It was eerie
As did I!
I had just happened to read it for the first time about 3 months before the pandemic first started and I was oh no what the fuck its happening
Awesome! I re-read this book over and over as a kid, looking forward to this exploration of it.

I've so been looking forward to this. One of my all time favorites, and a fascinating book to do a deep dive on.
